  • Malin Akerman Ape-Covered Topless In Maxim Pictorial

We do so dig funny hottie girl Malin Akerman. Something about that deadly combo of a girl who can make you laugh in between non-stop rounds of imagining her nekkid in your bunkbed giggling as you try desperately to find her happy spots.

Okay, so it's mostly my personal dream, but I'm sticking with it so long as Malin Akerman keeps producing new rounds of visual delights, as in her covered topless pictorial for the upcoming edition of Maxim magazine.

Razzle-dazzle and she-damn, Malin is looking super extra fine these days.

Kendall Jenner Bikini Pictures of Forever Hot

Whoa, need to be careful about what is said here of these bikini photos Kendall Jenner herself shared on her website. For although Kendall is more mature than most girls twice her age, definitely richer, more professionally involved, driving a Range Rover or Mercedes, depending on the day of the week, jetting around the world, and, as a Kardashian, responsible for pimping the shizz out of shizz for money to feed the family kitty, she is but an innocent teen girl, just trying to make her way quietly through life. Well, kinda sorta.

In these Sinisha Nisevic shot photographs for the Frenchie periodical, Flavor magazine, Kendall shows precisely why though she's already a good earner for the family, her life remains in constant peril from her older, chunkier, shorter half-sisters who must see her as an obvious threat to their narcissistic queendoms.
If Kendall can make it to her 18th birthday, then things are going to get really awesome, and we're taking off the censorship gloves.

Teachers Are Facing Death Threats And Rape Accusations From Pupils Online

Teachers are facing death threats, abuse and allegations of serious crimes by pupils and parents through social networking sites, a poll suggests.

One was even told her throat would be slit, while another was accused of being a rapist.

Online abuse of teachers is widespread, with more than two-fifths (42%) of those questioned saying they had been a victim of it, a survey by the NASUWT teaching union has found.

Of those, more than three-fifths (61.2%) said a pupil had written an insulting comment about them on a social networking or internet site, while more than a third (38.1%) said a student had made comments about their competence or performance as a teacher.

And nearly one in 10 (9.1%) said they had faced allegations that they behaved inappropriately with pupils.

One teacher told the survey that a student had posted that they were going to "slit my throat", while a second said a pupil had written "my English teacher should actually die" and a third said a student had posted that a teacher "is a rapist".

Another teacher had faced claims that they were unable to do their job and should be sacked. The teacher told the survey there had been "lies about me: saying inappropriate things to pupils, insulting pupils, having sexually absurd behaviours. Generally defaming and insulting me, spreading rumours about me throughout the school."

In some of these cases, action was taken against those responsible.

The poll, which questioned 1,522 teachers, found that the majority of pupils responsible (60%) were aged between 11 and 16, although some teachers reported comments by primary schoolchildren.

At least five dead in 'disaster emergency' as tornadoes hit Midwest

At least five people have been killed in Oklahoma and a disaster emergency has been declared in Kansas after a severe storm system moving through the Midwest spawned a number of strong tornadoes.

Oklahoma Dept. of Emergency Management information officer Keli Cain confirmed there were five deaths in the Woodward area of north-west Oklahoma.

Two of the dead are children, according to NBC News affiliate in Oklahoma, KFOR.

In Kansas, governor Sam Brownback issued a declaration of disaster emergency to help speed relief to areas affected by the storms. "We are continuing to assess all the damages across the state," said Brownback, "and signing this declaration clears the way for making state aid available to those counties that need help with clean-up and recovery."

Dozens of tornadoes were reported Saturday as baseball-size hail shattered windows and tore the siding off homes in northeast Nebraska and one twister damaged a hospital in Creston, Iowa. Several homes were wrecked in Kansas.

NBC News reported there were 112 recorded tornadoes in Kansas, Nebraska, Indiana and Oklahoma.

Forecasters had warned of "life-threatening" storms in the nation's midsection. No serious injuries from Saturday were immediately reported.

A tornado was reported on the ground near Wichita, Kan., late Saturday and power in the city was going out, NBC station KSN reported. Homes were reported damaged on the city's south side, but details were not immediately available.

KSN also reported that one building at airplane-maker Spirit Aerosystem collapsed in the storm. At the Wichita airport, winds gusting to 84 mph blew open hangars and overturned luggage carts, The Weather Channel reported. McConnell Air Force Base, which relocated aircraft to other bases before the storms moved in, reported hangar and housing damage, KSN said.

The National Weather Service office in Wichita temporarily turned over operations to the Topeka office Saturday as storms threatened to destroy its building.

Grand National 2012: Showers And Hail At Aintree

Racegoers should wrap up warmly and bring an umbrella today as thousands flock to Aintree for the 165th John Smith's Grand National.

A northerly breeze will keep the air icy cold as 40 runners and riders compete in the world's most famous steeplechase.

Racing enthusiasts should also prepare for rain, forecasters warned.

"It will be pretty chilly at the Grand National today, reaching about 9C. There will be showers this afternoon with hail mixed in," Paul Mott, forecaster at MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said.

The rest of the country will not fare much better as the South West faces heavy showers.

Mr Mott said: "There will probably be some thunder and hail mixed in and there will be heavy showers in the North East too. There could be some snow on the Pennines first thing in the morning, leaving a slight covering on the hills, but that should melt by 8am.

"Last night there was light snow over Aberdeenshire and the Highlands leaving maybe a centimetre or two on the ground.

"Tonight will be cold and dry, reaching -4C in rural parts of Scotland. It will be zero degrees in the south east and quite a sharp frost will be enough to kill off any flowering plants."

Mr Mott said Sunday night would be even colder.

"It will be about -4 to -5C in rural parts of south east England, which is very cold for this time of year."

Arizona Abortion Bill: Senate Reportedly Passes Late-Term Termination Ban

The Arizona state Senate on Tuesday voted to ban most abortions performed after 20 weeks of pregnancy, according to news reports.

The bill was passed by a mostly party-line 20-to-10 vote in the Republican-dominated Senate, Capitol Media Services reported.

Only one Republican joined the body's nine Democrats to oppose the measure, which now goes to Arizona's House of Representatives for consideration.

The bill marks the latest salvo in the long-running national battle over late-term abortions.

Six states in the past two years have enacted late-term abortion bans based on controversial medical research suggesting a fetus feels pain starting at 20 weeks of gestation.

The U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortions nationwide in 1973 but allowed states to ban the procedure, unless it risked the woman's health, after the time when the fetus could potentially survive outside the womb. (Reporting by Tim Gaynor; Editing by Steve Gorman)

Adele, '21': Album Set To Top The Charts Again For 24th Week

Is there anyone having a better year than Adele? First, she topped the Sunday Times Rich List of England's youngest stars -- after making more $31.8 million in the last year -- and now, her global smash album 21 is poised to take back the top spot on the U.S. chart.

If you've been counting, that's 24 nonconsecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200. While it's too early to tell how many copies the album will sell by the end of the week, Billboard is reporting that anywhere in the range of 110,000 to 130,000 is possible.

Adele's good news comes just days after Madonna's MDNA album sales plummeted, resulting in the biggest sales drop for a No. 1 album in Billboard history.

Perhaps even more impressive than spending 24 nonconsecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200, is that if Adele's 21 does return to the head of the charts, it will become one of only eight albums to spend six months leading the list. Prince and the Revolution's 1984 Purple Rain soundtrack was the last album to lead the charts for 24 weeks.

The West Side Story soundtrack, which was released in 1962, holds the record for the most nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1, with 54 weeks. Holding down the No. 2 spot is Michael Jackson's iconic Thriller album, which spent 37 weeks out front.

21 has now sold 8.64 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Hayden Panettiere Bikini: Actress Spotted Kissing Boyfriend In Hawaii

The bikini photos just keep on coming! Hayden Panettiere is the latest actress to show off her bikini body this week, following in the footsteps of Beyonce, Brooklyn Decker and Lea Michele.

According to Bauer-Griffin Online, Panettiere sported a coral bikini while vacationing in Hawaii with her boyfriend, New York Jets player Scotty McKnight. The pair was spotted kissing and later hit the tennis court for a workout, with Panettiere wearing just a small black bikini.

The cozy couple is headed toward their one-year anniversary -- they began dating in June 2011 -- and we saw Panettiere in the stands with McKnight at a Jets game last season while he was injured. From the look of their PDA, it seems like we might be seeing Panettiere at many more NFL games this fall.

Check out photos from Panettiere's beach day below. For more, head over to Bauer-Griffin Online.com.

1 Dead, 4 Missing After Yacht Race Accident

The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for four crew members from a 38-foot sailing vessel that ran aground during a yacht race near San Francisco.

At least one person from the "Low Speed Chase" vessel died, and three have been rescued, Petty Officer 2nd Class Levi Read said. He said a total of eight people were on board.

Read said the boat ran aground during a race around the Farallon Islands on Saturday afternoon.

The three rescued crew members were retrieved from the Farallon Islands, according to the Yacht Racing Association of San Francisco Bay. The association said the accident happened during the 2012 Full Crew Farallones Race.

Late last month, the Coast Guard rescued racers taking part in an around-the-world contest when a giant wave damaged their yacht off the coast of San Francisco. The Geraldton Western Australia was on the sixth leg of an eight-leg, 11-month race when it was struck on March 31.

Adam Mabery Allegedly Broke Into Thrift Store And Danced In Red Dress

A convicted sex offender who was just released from prison didn't show much goodwill for the Goodwill Thrift Store in Sherman, Texas.

Authorities say Adam Mabery smashed through the glass at the store early Monday morning -- naked -- and put on a red dress and heels and proceeded to dance around the thrift store, dripping blood on the merchandise. The footage -- shown at RightThisMinute -- shows the gender-bending perp causing more than $30,000 in damage in the process.

"It just makes you wonder what the heck somebody can do," Bill Williams, Goodwill's operations director, told KVUE-TV. "Just for one person to tear up what he tore up... It kind of looked like a war zone in here."

Mabery recently moved to Sherman from Houston after being released from prison.

According to local police, Mabury broke through the glass window of a nearby motel, then cut himself on the head and arm before running amok in the second-hand store.

The front desk clerk at the Executive Inn where Mabery was staying called Sherman police after he broke out, according to hotel manager Jai Demla told KXII-TV.

Sherman Police Sergeant Bruce Dawsey doesn't know if the accused was having a mental breakdown.

"Not sure what his mental state was at the time -- if he was intoxicated on alcohol or some other substance," Dawsey told KXII-TV.

Mabery's bloody ballet caused a lot of damage, according to Goodwill spokeswoman Lisa Gann.

"We had eight barrels of donations that hadn't been processed yet, and every one of those had to be thrown out," she told KVUE-TV, adding that the charity had to spend $8,000 on a HazMat crew to clean up the blood, which also required the store to be closed for a few days. The glass counters, carpeting and front door must all be replaced.

Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift to collaborate on new song

Justin Bieber has revealed that his upcoming album "Believe," his third, will feature a songwriting collaboration with Taylor Swift.
The U.K.'s Capital FM Radio posted audio yesterday from a recent conversation with Bieber on the program Vodafone Big Top 40 in which Bieber announced the country-pop singer-songwriter will join Believe's all-star guest list.
When asked whether the Swift collaboration would have a country flavor, Bieber replied in the affirmative and explained that "Believe" will reflect a diverse range of styles.
"It doesn't stay in a box," he explained. "Everything is so different and that's why I'm so happy with this album."
Other "Believe" guests include Drake, Kanye West, Timbaland and Diplo. On Monday, Bieber announced on Twitter that the album will also include a duet with Usher. "Believe" is expected to come out this summer.

Canada and U.S. singled out at summit over drugs, Cuba

Canada and the United States are finding themselves at odds with Latin American countries on two thorny issues — the war on drugs and the exclusion of Cuba — at a summit of hemispheric leaders in Colombia.

The event's host, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, delivered a frank speech Saturday to the assembled heads of state and government in which he said it would be "unacceptable" to hold another Summit of the Americas without Cuba. The communist country was suspended from the Organization of American States, the main organizing body for the summits, in 1962.

Canada and the United States are the only two countries in the organization that have not lobbied to invite to Cuba to the events.

"The isolation, the embargo, the indifference, the looking the other way don't work," Santos said in the coastal resort city of Cartagena. "It's an anachronism that keeps us anchored in a Cold War era that was overcome decades ago."

Three Latin American leaders are threatening not to sign Sunday's summit declaration unless Canada and the United States agree to allow Cuba to attend the next one, the CBC's Terry Milewski reported from the summit.
    Divided over drugs

The Colombian president also said that the war on drugs isn't working and that he would like to see a debate on decriminalizing them.

Violence related to the drug trade has pushed murder rates in Central America and the Caribbean to the highest in the world.

But Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's office has said he won't entertain any policy changes that would lift the prohibition of illicit drugs, while U.S. President Barack Obama repeated at the summit on Saturday that the White House believes "legalization is not the answer."

Saturday's focus on Cuba and drug enforcement policy clashed with Harper's agenda at the summit, which was to sell Canada as an attractive destination to do business.

The prime minister went looking for investment dollars from across the region during a speech Saturday to assembled leaders, where he boasted of Canada's economic stability and strong resource industry.

Harper also told a forum of CEOs his government's budget promises to speed up the regulatory process to develop major natural resource projects is a key reason they should invest.

"We cannot allow valid concerns about environmental protection to be used as an excuse to trap worthwhile projects in reviews without end," Harper said. "What matters is that the relevant facts are fully considered. That need not take years."

Scandal mars Obama's wooing of Latin America

A prostitution scandal involving U.S. security personnel in Colombia and an unprecedented regional push to end the isolation of Cuba threatened on Saturday to eclipse President Barack Obama's charm offensive to Latin America.

In a major embarrassment for Washington at the Summit of the Americas attended by more than 30 heads of state, 11 U.S. Secret Service agents were sent home and five military servicemen grounded over "misconduct" allegations in a hotel.

Prostitutes were taken to the hotel, according to a Colombian police source.

The widening controversy was overshadowing a host of weightier topics at the two-day summit that began on Saturday.

"I had a breakfast meeting to discuss trade and drugs, but the only thing the other delegates wanted to talk about was the story of the agents and the hookers," chuckled one Latin American diplomat in the historic city of Cartagena.

Locals were upset about the bad publicity for their city, and the scandal was raising eyebrows around the region.

"Obama's guards expelled in Colombia over prostitution - shame the gringos think that Latin America is a brothel and they act like it too," commented left-leaning Venezuelan political commentator Nicmer Evans via Twitter.

Obama's rapprochement with the region - already undermined by the titillating headlines from Cartagena - also faces a rare display of unity among both leftist and conservative-run nations in Latin America in allowing communist-run Cuba at the next summit.

Argentina's foreign minister said the final summit declaration was stalled over the issue of Cuba, with 32 nations supporting its inclusion in the next Summit of the Americas, but the United States vetoing that.

"We have decided not to participate in future 'Summits of the Americas' without the presence of Cuba," said the leftist ALBA block of nations, founded by Venezuela's theatrically anti-U.S. president, Hugo Chavez.

Man Flees After Woman Demands Too Much Sex

Agence France-Presse reports that a German man in Munich allegedly had to flee to the police after a woman demanded too much sex.

After several amicably agreed upon rolls in the hay, the man reportedly tried to leave the woman's apartment. But she wouldn't let him exit and instead allegedly insisted on more sex. That's when the man ran to the cops for help, according to authorities.

Perhaps the woman in question was unaware of a study reported on by Forbes that found that, while women can, for the most part, never have too much sex, men can.

    From Forbes:

Penile tissues, if given too roistering or prolonged a pummeling, can sustain damage. In cases you'd just as soon not hear about, permanent damage.

And the German man might not be alone in his desire for a bit less sex.

Reuters reported on a study that found 12 percent of men aged 16-24 wanted sex less often. It's not a perfect comparison though, since the German man was 43.

What People Earn: Then & Now

Doug Olsen found his calling early: teaching science to middle schoolers. In 1983, he appeared on the cover of PARADE 's first issue dedicated to American salaries. He stood before a blackboard in Seattle, chalk in hand, 30 years old, earning $18,700 a year. He was happy and hopeful. He said, "I wouldn't dream of doing anything else."

[Related: How happy are you at your job? Take the job happiness survey now.]

Since then, America has faced an economic seesaw like few generations have seen. Three major booms and as many busts, unemployment veering from highs and lows not experienced since the Depression, new industries created, new kinds of help wanted, old industries --- and job titles --- relegated to history books.

Like the early 1980s, many of us today wonder what the economy has in store, how jobs will evolve, how salaries will change, and how to best carry on the pursuit of happiness in America.

If you could start over, would you pick the same field? Take the survey now.

To mark its 30th What People Earn report, PARADE contacted hundreds of people previously featured to see how their careers have fared over the years. Many had lost their jobs or quit them, while others had become the boss. Some relocated to find work, others embarked on a new path entirely. Almost all of them faced challenges from an American job market in transition.

[Related: Signs You're in the Wrong Job]

In 1983, Doug Olsen's career goal was to stay in front of a blackboard. Despite tough years of downsizing and restructuring, he achieved it. Three decades later, PARADE found him at the same school. He had recently retired --- at a salary of $58,000 --- and now volunteers there daily. “My passion always has been kids' education. I'm grateful for my 31 years of teaching, and I'm happy to say my daughter has followed my footsteps.”

The Three Stooges Condemned By Catholic League President Bill Donohue

The Three Stooges" opens around the country today (April 13th), but there is one group that has already deemed the film a stinker.

The Catholic League's President, Bill Donohue, has put out a statement condemning the movie for its disrespectful portrayal of Catholics, specifically nuns. Donohue claims that the movie is more evidence of the increasing hostility towards religion and Catholics in Hollywood:

In the 1950s, Hollywood generally avoided crude fare and was respectful of religion. Today it specializes in crudity and trashes Christianity, especially Catholicism. Enter the “The Three Stooges.” This movie is not just another remake: it is a cultural marker of sociological significance, and what it says about the way we’ve changed is not encouraging.

The film pushes the envelope with its portrayals of two unusual nuns portrayed by the bombshell Kate Upton, and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" creator Larry David. Both are potential causes for offense for different reasons as MovieFone reports:

In "Stooges," David portrays Sister Mary-Mengele. The name is a nod to the late Nazi Josef Mengele, an SS Officer who decided prisoners' fates at Auschwitz. As for Upton, it's not so much her character's name -- Sister Bernice -- as it is her attire. During one scene, the SI swimsuit model dons a very revealing bikini along with a large rosary around her neck.

Larry David probably didn't help the situation when he said his dressing as a nun made him understand why they are so mean. David explained:

"You know, the outfits might have something to do with that. Forget about the fact that they never have sex. If you gave me a choice of no sex or having to wear that outfit the rest of my life, I would definitely take the no sex... No wonder they're so crazy.”

'Cabin In The Woods,' 'Three Stooges,' 'The Client List' And More: The Week In Ouch

The reviews for Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard's new horror flick "The Cabin in the Woods" have been mostly positive. However there was one critic who wasn't so impressed with Whedon's "nightmare spoof," claiming that it's not as scary as the movies it seems to copy.

"A testament to the wonders of writing under the guidance of crystal meth, this nightmare spoof of everything from 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' to the 'Scream' franchise totally defies logic, and pretty much eludes description," wrote Rex Reed of The New York Observer.

Meanwhile, the return of Fox's "Glee" made teenage girls squeal with delight -- and HitFix's Ryan McGee cry out in frustration. As for ABC's "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23"? Well, even James Van Der Beek (playing The Beek himself!) couldn't save this new comedy from The Washington Post's wrath.

HuffPost Entertainment has rounded up the week's snarkiest reviews just for your enjoyment in this week's installment of our "Week In Ouch" series.

This week, critics from Empire to The New York Times and HitFix all had something nasty to say about the latest movies, music and TV shows.

Let us know what you think deserved the harsh critiques, and which ones you think critics should ease up on in the comments.

Meet Allan Hill, the man who lives In Detroit’s abandoned Packard Auto Plant

Perhaps the biggest shortcoming of Detroit "ruin porn" is it inherently ignores the very real people who still live in the city. Now there's a convergence — the amazing story of Allan Hill, the man who legally lives inside the city's abandoned Packard Auto Plant.

What's most surprising about this moving mini-documentary is Hill's "quality of life" doesn't look as terrible as you'd imagine, nor does his reasoning for choosing to stay in the largest abandoned factory in the world seem so unsound.

The whole creation is a huge gut-check to our biases. Yes, the Packard Plant is so giant and empty and strange they shoot Michael Bay movies there. And, occasionally, kids push a dump truck out a window.

Yet, Hill has power, Internet access, a welding setup, and a small kitchen. He even maintains a webcam. The owner apparently gave him his blessing so long as Hill works as a custodian of the property.

He reminds me of the Prophet Amos, whom God appointed to tell the Israelites to stop letting the wealthiest few prosper at the hands of the poorest. This was not a popular message as it came at a time when Israel was doing fairly well. Amos also told them to prepare themselves for judgement, especially from a foreign nation.

    4) Humans continue to make new neurons throughout life in response to mental activity.

    5) Alcohol interferes with brain processes by weakening connections between neurons.

    6) Altitude makes the brain see strange visions – Many religions involve special visions that occurred at great heights. For example, Moses encountered a voice emanating from a burning bush on Mount Sinai and Muhammad was visited by an angel on Mount Hira. Similar phenomena are reported by mountain climbers, but they don’t think it’s very mystical. Many of the effects are attributable to the reduced supply of oxygen to the brain. At 8,000ft or higher, some mountaineers report perceiving unseen companions, seeing light emanating from themselves or others, seeing a second body like their own, and suddenly feeling emotions such as fear. Oxygen deprivation is likely to interfere with brain regions active in visual and face processing, and in emotional events.

    7) Reading aloud and talking often to a young child promotes brain development.

8 ) Information travels at different speeds within different types of neurons. Not all neurons are the same. There are a few different types within the body and transmission along these different kinds can be as slow as 0.5 meters/sec or as fast as 120 meters/sec.

    9) The capacity for such emotions as joy, happiness, fear, and shyness are already developed at birth. The specific type of nurturing a child receives shapes how these emotions are developed.

    10) The left side of your brain (left hemisphere) controls the right side of your body; and, the right side of your brain (right hemisphere) controls the left side of your body.

    BAD HABITS--Progress Breaker

Days to Create Habit, 14 Days to Break the Habit
We all have vices, even though we may not all admit that we have them. Some people smoke, other people go shopping too much, and still others sit in front of their laptop every night eating a full bag of nacho chips while writing articles.
There's an old saying that it takes 7 days to create a habit and 14 days to break a habit. I don't know how true it is, but it does.I know we can start bad habits in 7 days or less, but breaking them is always harder.
Bad habits come in many forms and there are many factors to the bad habit. Determine the triggers of the bad habit first and foremost.
The first question you should ask when you plan to break a habit is how serious are you about breaking it? If you are really committed to getting rid of it, your chance of succeeding is much higher than if you lack this commitment. Be aware that breaking habits requires focused energy and you need to concentrate on observing your behaviour over a period of time.
In which situations are you performing the habit you want to get rid of. How often are you doing it and are there special things from your environment that trigger your behaviour? You should set aside a period of time just to observe yourself and your behaviour. Write down and keep track of when you do the unwanted behaviour. It is also important that you find out exactly what your thoughts and feelings are each time you perform your unwanted behaviour. When you write this down, you will be much more aware of when and why you perform this habit.
Now, take your notebook, read what you have written and ask yourself, "Which function has this habit for me? What does it really do for me? What pleasure does this habit give me? Which pain do I avoid with this behaviour? Does it prevent anxiety, stress, nausea? Does it make me feel more confident?
Think about this and write down some alternative behaviours to the habit you want to get rid of that would be a better and more positive way to handle the feelings or the situation that is associated with it. How can this new behaviour or new habit make you feel pleasure or prevent you from feeling pain as well as the old one. Select one or a few alternative behaviours or habits and start to practice them.
Be careful to observe your behaviour and as soon as you notice that you are practicing your old habit, stop yourself and start the new alternative behaviour you picked out previously. Work with this every day in the beginning one or two times a day, and increase it as the time goes by. To break an old habit and replace it with a new, isn't done overnight, but the more you practice your new behaviour, the more it becomes fixed and the more of the old one is erased.
Tell your family and friends that you are working with yourself to get rid of a habit you don't like, and they will probably help and support you in your endeavour to get rid of .
There are many ways to self improvement. Here are some tips for getting rid of a bad habit. Habits are as we all know some sort of automatic behaviours and most of us employ habits that are far from good, thus we want to change them. There are lots of examples; smoking habits, the habit of over-eating, the habit of forgetting certain things like umbrellas and gloves, the habit of interrupting other people when they talk etc.
Though there are many different bad habits, breaking a habit has certain things in common, whether it is a smoking habit, an over-eating habit or whatever. The tips below cover how to break a habit in general and can be applied on whichever habit you want to break.

DOJ May Sue Tech Company Over eBooks As Early As Wednesday

The Justice Department could sue Apple Inc as early as Wednesday over alleged electronic book price-fixing, while settling with several publishers as early as this week, two people familiar with the matter said.

The Justice Department is investigating alleged price-fixing by Apple and five major publishers: CBS Corp's Simon & Schuster Inc; HarperCollins Publishers Inc; Lagardere SCA's Hachette Book Group; Pearson and Macmillan, a unit of Verlagsgruppe Georg von Holtzbrinck GmbH.

A lawsuit against Apple, one of the parties not in negotiations over a potential settlement, could come as early as Wednesday but no final decision had been made, the people said.

Apple declined to comment. The Justice Department and the five publishers could not be reached for comment.

The Justice Department is investigating whether deals Apple cut two years ago with the quintet of major publishers - when the consumer electronics maker launched its iPad tablet computer - were done with the intent of propping up prices for digital books, sources have said.

As part of those agreements, publishers shifted to a model that allowed them to set the price of e-books and give Apple a 30 percent cut of sales, the sources have said.

Talks between the Justice Department and some publishers had been proceeding, with settlements expected as soon as this week, one of the two sources familiar with the matter said on condition of anonymity, because the discussions were not public.

Md. Civil War Museum Gives Severed Arm A Good Look

Long after the guns fell silent at Antietam, the earth yielded up gruesome reminders of the bloodiest day of the American Civil War: bodies, bones, buttons and entire severed limbs – one of which is now the focus of intense study at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine.

A Sharpsburg-area farmer is said to have found the human forearm while plowing a field two weeks after the 1862 battle.

Officials at the museum in Frederick, Md., are trying to learn more about the limb in hopes of verifying that it's a relic of the Battle of Antietam and exhibiting the well-preserved specimen during the battle's 150th anniversary in September.

The muddy-looking right forearm, with skin and hand attached, was donated anonymously to the museum earlier this year, said Executive Director George Wunderlich. It had been displayed for several decades at a private museum in Sharpsburg in a glass-topped, pine case with a placard reading, "Human arm found on the Antietam Battlefield."

Though there is little hope of identifying the young man who lost it, Wunderlich said forensic experts may be able to discern his nationality and whether the arm was, as Wunderlich suspects, torn from his body by a bullet or artillery round.

"Being able to put the story of this unknown person before this country is very important to us," Wunderlich said. "His remains will tell a story that will relate us back to his sacrifice. This was what they gave for what they believed. If done properly, it's a very poignant story."

The unidentified farmer who found the limb put it in a barrel of brine, according to Thomas McGrath's 1997 book, "Maryland September: True Stories from the Antietam Campaign." The farmer reportedly gave it to a Boonsboro physician, who is said to have more permanently preserved it with embalming fluid.

The arm eventually ended up in a private museum that was sold in the 1960s to John G. Ray Jr. After Ray died in 2001, his widow had the museum's contents sold at an auction, according to battlefield historian Ted Alexander.

Alexander grew up nearby and remembers seeing the arm on display.

"It was quite an attraction," he said. "It was macabre and something to see as kid."

The arm's owner was probably a small man less than 20 years old, said William Gardner, a former Marshall University forensic medicine instructor who examined it in March.

10 Research-proven tips for a better memory, recommended by Harvard Medical School.

    1. Believe in yourself : People who are exposed to positive messages about preserving memory into old age do better on memory tasks.
    2. Economize your brain use : Take advantage of calendars, planners, maps and file folders. Designate a place at home for your glasses, keys and other items of frequent use.

    3. Organise your thoughts : Information broken into smaller chunks such as city code and area code of a phone number is easier to remember than a single long list.

    4. Use all your senses : The more senses you use while learning something, the more of your brain will be involved in retaining the learning.

    5. Expand your brain : Widen the brain region involved in learning by reading aloud, drawing a picture or writing down the information you want to learn.

    6. Repeat it aloud : Repeat it aloud, something which you just heard or thought about.

    7. Space it out : Spacing out your learning instead of cramming in a short period is very valuable especially while learning complicated information.

    8. Make a mnemonic : Mnemonics such as acrostics is a creative way to remember information. Another helpful mnemonics is to create story linking the items you want to remember.

    9. Challenge yourself : Engaging in activities that require you to concentrate and tax your memory will help you maintain skills as you age. Do crossword puzzles, try new recipes, travel and undertake projects or hobbies that require skills you aren't familiar or comfortable with.

    10. Take a course : Memory improvement courses are becoming more common. Select a course that focuses on practical ways to manage everyday challenges. Stay away from courses that center on computer or concentration games. Choose one, run by health professionals or experts in psychology or cognitive rehabilitation.

Darlene Mayes, 73-Year-Old, Sold Pot And Had Illegal Guns In Oklahoma, Cops Say

This granny's ganja wasn't for glaucoma -- turns out she might have been the biggest pot dealer in town.

When cops kicked down the door of an elderly woman's Oklahoma home on Monday, they said they knew they'd find some marijuana. What they didn't expect was that 73-year-old Darlene Mayes was packing 4 pounds of pot, $276,000 in cash, a semiautomatic pistol and a revolver, The Daily reported.

Investigators had been following Mayes' alleged drug ring for years, but they didn't know she was the kingpin until Monday, KJRH-TV reported. They believe she supplied about 40 percent of the marijuana circulating in the vicinity, which includes Tulsa and parts of Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri.

"That was quite a surprise," Vinita Police Chief Bobby Floyd told The Daily, an iPad-only news site. "She is in very good shape for her age."

Cops alleged that Mayes had plenty of dealers working for her -- including her son Jerry, who was arrested Monday, accused of carrying thousands of dollars in cash and nearly 2 pounds of pot that he intended to sell.

In Mayes' house, cops found the supply in her bedroom, which reeked of weed. A vacuum-sealed bag full of the stuff was found in the closet, and bundles of bills labeled "$15,000" were found under her box spring. They found a pipe and another bag of weed in the bathroom, and a total of $200,000 in more vacuum-sealed bags in a guest room where Mayes' grandchildren reportedly slept.

Mayes allegedly first told officers that the money was for her retirement fund.

"She knew exactly what she was doing and supplying and exactly who she’s profiting from," Mark Woodward, spokesman for the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, told The Daily.

The granny was charged with marijuana possession with intent to distribute, maintaining a dwelling where drugs are kept or sold, and firearm possession in commission of a felony.

    Eight Memory Improvement Technics

It's a general situation - you meet someone new, and then moments later you've forgotten their name! Names, passwords, pin and telephone numbers... the list is endless - with so much to memorize is it really possible to improve how much you can remember?.
Everyone either he is student or a layman want to improve his memory. We always in the search of some technics or any method that can be beneficial in improving our memory. Before you study for your next exam, you might want to use a few strategies to boost your memory of important information. There are a number of tried and tested techniques for improving memory. There are some technics or tips can be useful to improve your memory.

    1. Focus or concentrate your attention on the materials you are studying.
Attention is one of the major part of memory. In order to improve short memory to long term memory you need to actively read this information. Try to study in a place free of disturbance such as television, music, and other diversions.
    .
    2. Avoid cramming study regularly
Many research has shown that students who study regularly remember the material far better that those did all of their studying in one marathon session.

    3. Structure and organize the information you are studying.
Always structure and organize the information you are going to remember for a long term. Try grouping similar concepts and terms together, or make an outline of your notes and textbook readings to help group related concepts.

    4. Utilize mnemonic devices to remember information.
Mnemonics are techniques for remembering information that is otherwise quite difficult to recall:Mnemonic devices are a technique often used by students to aid in recall. A mnemonic is simply a way to remember information. For example, you might associate a term you need to remember with a common item that you are very familiar with. The best mnemonics are those that utilize positive imagery, humor, or novelty. You might come up with a rhyme, song, or joke to help remember a specific segment of information. The idea behind using mnemonics is to encode difficult-to-remember information in a way that is much easier to remember.
Our brains evolved to code and interpret complex stimuli such as images, colors, structures, sounds, smells, tastes, touch, positions, emotions and language. We use these to make sophisticated models of the world we live in. Our memories store all of these very effectively.
Unfortunately, a lot of the information we have to remember in modern life is presented differently – as words printed on a page. While writing is a rich and sophisticated medium for conveying complex arguments, our brains do not easily encode written information, making it difficult to remember. The key idea is that by coding information using vivid mental images, you can reliably code both information and the structure of information. And because the images are vivid, they are easy to recall when you need them.

    5. Elaborate and rehearse the information you are studying.
In order to recall information, you need to encode what you are studying into long-term memory. One of the most effective encoding techniques is known as elaborative rehearsal. An example of this technique would be to read the definition of a key term, study the definition of that term, and then read a more detailed description of what that term means. After repeating this process a few times, your recall of the information will be far better.

    6. Relate new information to things you already know.
When you are studying unfamiliar material, take the time to think about how this information relates to things that you already know. By establishing relationships between new ideas and previously existing memories, you can dramatically increase the likelihood of recalling the recently learned information.

    7. Visualize concepts to improve memory and recall.
Many people benefit greatly from visualizing the information they study. Pay attention to the photographs, charts, and other graphics in your textbooks. If you don’t have visual cues to help, try creating your own. Draw charts or figures in the margins of your notes or use highlighters or pens in different colors to group related ideas in your written study materials.

    8. Teach new concepts to another person.
Research suggests that reading materials out loud significantly improves memory of the material. Educators and psychologists have also discovered that having students actually teach new concepts to others enhances understanding and recall. You can use this approach in your own study by teaching new concepts and information to a friend or study partner.

    FIVE LEARNING TIPS

    Learning Tips 1
One sure way to become a more effective learner is to simply keep learning. An article reported that people who learned how to juggle increased the amount of gray matter in their occipital lobes, the area of the brain is associated with visual memory.1 When these individuals stopped practicing their new skill, this gray matter vanished.

So if you're learning a new language, it is important to keep practicing the language in order to maintain the gains you have achieved. This "use-it-or-lose-it" phenomenon involves a brain process known as "pruning." Certain pathways in the brain are maintained, while other are eliminated. If you want the new information you just learned to stay put, keep practicing and rehearsing it.

    Learning Tip 2.
    Learn in Multiple Ways
Focus on learning in more than one way. Instead of just listening to a podcast, which involves auditory learning, find a way to rehearse the information both verbally and visually. This might involve describing what you learned to a friend, taking notes or drawing a mind map. By learning in more than one way, you’re further cementing the knowledge in your mind. According to Judy Willis, “The more regions of the brain that store data about a subject, the more interconnection there is. This redundancy means students will have more opportunities to pull up all of those related bits of data from their multiple storage areas in response to a single cue. This cross-referencing of data means we have learned, rather than just memorized.”

    .Learning tip 3
Teach What You've Learned to Another Person

Teaching can improve your learning. By teaching to the rest of the class, your teacher hoped you would gain even more from the assignment. You can apply the same principle today by sharing your newly learned skills and knowledge with others.

    Learning tip 4
Start by translating the information into your own words.
This process alone helps solidify new knowledge in your brain. Next, find some way to share what you’ve learned. Some ideas include writing a blog post, creating a podcast or participating in a group discussion.

    Learning Tip5.
Utilize Previous Learning to Promote New Learning
Another great way to become a more effective learner is to use relational learning, which involves relating new information to things that you already know. For example, if you are learning about Romeo and Juliet, you might associate what you learn about the play with prior knowledge you have about Shakespeare, the historical period in which the author lived and other relevant information.

Raspberry Pi Release: Model B Units Finally Shipping This Week

    Raspberry Pi

Those lucky few who were able to order a Raspberry Pi before the mini-computer sold out the day of its February 29 launch will finally be receiving their $35 credit card-sized, Linux-based PC this coming week.

One of Raspberry Pi's distributors, RS Components, announced on April 12 that it had taken its first delivery of a Raspberry Pi shipment.

In addition, a spokesperson for Premier Farnell, the other of Raspberry Pi's distributors, told the BBC that it will be receiving a "large batch of machines" on April 13 and will be sending them out to customers later in the day; they should expect their devices within seven days of them being sent.

Unfortunately, everyone else who wants to order one will have to wait. Those who had registered their interest in the device on RS Components' website following its sell-out on February 29 will receive an invitation to place an order for the Raspberry Pi in order of when they registered, according to a press release; however, RS Components also noted that it would only be inviting orders when delivery of a Raspberry Pi can be guaranteed and that the one-per-customer rule still remains. It's unclear whether or not Premier Farnell is following the same procedure, though customers are still able to register their interest on the company's website.

Shipment of these $35 Model B Raspberry Pis -- which can plug into a TV and keyboard and come equipped with 256 MB RAM, 2 USB ports, and an Ethernet port -- has experienced quite a few delays in the past several weeks. Ars Technica reported last month that the Raspberry Pi's manufacturer used Ethernet jacks without integrated magnetics, or "built-in transformers that provide DC-isolation and help filter noise," so they had to be removed and replaced. Previously, the Raspberry Pi had suffered from a more minor problem with its manufacturer, who, according to Ars, "had difficulty sourcing a component."

More recently, shipment was delayed because, according to a March 29 ZDNet report, Raspberry Pi's distributors refused to sell the device until it received "the Conformité Européenne (CE) mark, which consumer products sold in the European Economic Area need to bear."

The Raspberry Pi Foundation -- the UK charity who developed the cheap mini-computer in order to inspire kids to program -- finally announced on April 6 that the device had passed EMC testing and would be ready for delivery. In addition, the Raspberry Pi complies with regulations in the US, Australia, and Canada.

Now, nearly six years after the device's inception, the tiny Raspberry Pi will soon be reaching the hands of thousands of people everywhere. Even Eben Upton, executive director of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, was surprised by its success so far. He told The Huffington Post UK:

Apple Releases New Update For Flashback Trojan

Apple has followed through with its promise to develop software that will detect and remove the malicious Mac Flashback trojan, which infected more than 600,000 Mac laptops worldwide.

On April 12, the company released yet another Java update that "removes the most common variants of the Flashback malware." While the update is meant only for OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6, Apple suggested previously that users with Macs running Mac OS X v10.5 or earlier disable Java in order to better protect their devices from the Flashback trojan.

When the company on April 10 announced it would be developing a malware removal tool, Apple also mentioned it is currently working with Internet service providers (ISPs) across the world to shut down the network of computer servers presumably hosted by the malware authors and currently supporting the Flashback trojan.

This is Apple's third software update to Java in nine days; however, this latest update release is the first one actually designed to detect and remove the Flashback trojan from Mac laptop devices, as well as patch up the Java vulnerabilities of which the trojan took advantage.

According to PCMag, another function of the update is to "disable the Java plugin on all Web browsers (not just Safari) and turn off applet execution by default." In addition, Apple explained in its support document for the Java update, "Users may re-enable automatic execution of Java applets using the Java Preferences application. If the Java web plug-in detects that no applets have been run for an extended period of time it will again disable Java applets."

The Flashback trojan has been around in various forms since last September, but it wasn't until recently that it seemed to become a huge problem, prompting Java developer Oracle to release a security update back in February.

While Apple has been criticized for its slow response to the Flashback trojan, at least it seems its Java security updates have been working.

On April 12, ZDNet reported the results of a study conducted by security software developer Symantec, which found that the number of infected Macs has dropped to around 270,000 from more than 600,000 just last week.

Sony Android SmartWatch And inPulse Pebble Compared

On Wednesday a Kickstarter campaign for the inPulse Pebble, a smartwatch that is compatible with both Android and iPhone, met with almost instant approval and reached its fundraising goal of $100,000 in just two hours. Now, Sony has announced its own smartwatch that is designed to sync solely with Android.

The devices are similar in that they both run applications that sync with smartphone operating systems and allow for control of those apps from a convenient wrist-mounted display. So is there an advantage to buying a smartwatch that works with one leading device instead of two?

    In short: No.

Let's be realistic -- the mere fact that the Pebble works with two operating systems puts the Sony watch at a disadvantage, especially since the watches are both priced at $149, according to the Web sites of inPulse and Sony. A user who wanted the flexibility to move from Android to iPhone or vice versa would be better served by the Pebble.

There are other key differences. The Sony watch has a snazzy touch display, but the functional e-paper watch face of the Pebble is viewable in direct sunlight. The battery life of the Pebble claims to last for seven or more days, while a CNET review of the Sony device puts its longevity at two days, max.

In terms of aesthetic differences, the Sony watch offers a variety of colored watch bands to liven up its product, while the Pebble so far only comes in three colors -- with a fourth to be decided -- but has customizable watch faces.

The watches appear to offer similar apps, such as remote controls for music and stats displays for jogging and cycling, and both companies plan to release a software development kit so that more applications can be created.

However, in a video (above) by the Wall Street Journal's Digits blog, Ina Fried of AllThingsDigital surmises that developers "are only going to build [apps] if [the watch] starts selling well." With the competition offered by the Pebble, that might be a big if. The only thing that Sony seems to have going for it is that its Android-compatible watch is already available for purchase.

Tina Fey Reportedly Joins Nancy Meyers Comedy

Interns are so hot right now. On the heels of the news that Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson will co-star in the comedy "The Internship," comes word that Tina Fey will lead "The Intern." Deadline.com reports that Fey is attached to star in the new comedy from writer-director Nancy Meyers.

The film will apparently focus on a platonic friendship between a businesswoman and her 70-year-old male intern. No word yet on which elder actor will star in the film, but apparently Meyers already has someone on her radar. Considering she's worked with Jack Nicholson in the past, just start crossing your fingers now that the soon-to-be 75-year-old actor is Meyers' choice. After all, who wouldn't want to see Fey battle wits with Jack onscreen?

This is the second Meyers project announced in the last day. She's also going to direct "The Chelsea" with star Felicity Jones. That film was written by Meyers' daughter. Whether "The Chelsea" or "The Intern" will shoot first is unclear, but the idea is to start filming "The Intern" in the first quarter of 2013.

For more on the project, including why Meyers wanted to make the film with Fey, head over to Deadline.com.

Illinois boy, 12, dies after being hit by baseball while warming up for game

A 12-year-old sports fanatic has died in Illinois after being hit in the neck by a baseball while warming up for a game this week.

Eric Lederman, a sixth-grader from Oswego, Ill., roughly 50 miles southwest of Chicago, was hospitalized after being hit while throwing a ball with a teammate Wednesday night before a league game in Wheaton, the Chicago Tribune reported.

He died Thursday night, leaving his local community in shock.

"He was an inspiration to his teammates, coaches and baseball family," Brian Zacker, the coach of Eric's baseball team, told the newspaper. "He played with an infectious smile and played the game with tremendous passion and heart."

Oswego Softball and Baseball Association executive director John Thorson told the Chicago Sun-Times that officials were working on plans to set up a memorial for the Lederman family.

"I've played baseball many years and in college and I've never seen anything like this," he said.

Secret Service officers sent home from Colombia, involvement with prostitutes alleged

A dozen Secret Service personnel providing security for President Barack Obama at an international summit in Cartagena, Colombia, have been relieved of duty because of allegations of misconduct.

The Associated Press said it received an anonymous tip that the misconduct involved prostitutes in Cartagena, site of the Summit of the Americas. A Secret Service spokesman did not dispute the allegation.

The Washington Post reported that Jon Adler, president of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, told the newspaper the accusations relate to at least one officer having involvement with prostitutes in Cartagena.

A U.S. official, who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter and requested anonymity, put the number of personnel at 12, the AP reported.

Leftists protest Obama visit with bombs?

Adler told the Post that the entire unit was recalled for the investigation. He later told the AP he had no specific knowledge of any wrongdoing.

The incident threatened to overshadow Obama's economic and trade agenda at the summit and embarrass the U.S. The White House had no comment.

Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan would not confirm that prostitution was involved, saying only that there had been "allegations of misconduct" made against Secret Service personnel in the Colombian port city hosting Obama and more than 30 world leaders.

“The Secret Service takes all allegations of misconduct seriously,” Donovan told the Post.

Colombia president to Obama: Don't ignore your neighbors

Donovan said the allegations of misconduct were related to activity before the president's arrival on Friday night.

Obama was attending a leaders' dinner Friday night at Cartagena's historic Spanish fortress.

The personnel involved had been sent back to their permanent place of duty and were being replaced by other agency officers, Donovan said. The matter was turned over to the agency's Office of Professional Responsibility, which handles the agency's internal affairs.

"These personnel changes will not affect the comprehensive security plan that has been prepared in advance of the president's trip," Donovan said.

Rakhi gets emotional, says Dhanush insulted her

We did not really see this coming. Rakhi Sawant, who usually carries an 'I-don’t-give-a-damn attitude' on her sleeves, has become quite emotional about a particular topic now. But still the item queen has not shied away from being outspoken about it. She was supposed to perform with the ‘Koleveri Di’ sensation, Dhanush, recently but he reportedly ditched her at the last moment. And hence, Rakhi was left terribly miffed and resultantly said that she was heartbroken and felt humiliated due to the same.

Rakhi Sawant, who is the original tantrum queen of the industry, is known to say it as it is. She was visibly emotional about something recently, and when the media asked about it, she revealed that she was very disappointed due to Dhanush’s gesture. Dhanush, who found instant fame courtesy his track ‘Kolaveri DI’, was scheduled to perform on the song on stage with Rakhi, but he cancelled his appearance at the last moment. Rakhi, on the other hand, was all prepared and ready to go. She was left in the cold and lashed out by saying that he treated her as an untouchable.

The Richest, Fattest Nation on Earth

This Connecticut-sized nation, sticking out like a loose tooth in the Persian Gulf, is one of the most obese nations in the world, with residents fatter, on average, than even those of the United States, which often takes the cake in such competitions.

According to recent studies, roughly half of adults and a third of children in Qatar are obese, and almost 17 percent of the native population suffers from diabetes. By comparison, about a third of Americans are obese, and eight percent are diabetic. Qatar also has very high rates of birth defects and genetic disorders -- problems that, along with the prevalence of obesity (PDF) and diabetes, have worsened in recent decades, according to local and international health experts.

So what's going wrong in little Qatar?

To misappropriate a well-worn phrase: It's the economy, stupid. In September, Qatar officially became the richest nation in the world, as measured by per capita gross domestic product. It also recently became the world's biggest exporter of natural gas, and earned the title of fastest growing economy in the world. By international development standards, all this growth has happened virtually overnight, making Qataris' lifestyles much more unhealthy, and at the same time leading many to hang on resolutely to what's left of their fleeting tribal traditions -- practices that include inter-marriage between close family members and cousins.

"They're concentrating the gene pool, and at the same time, they're facing rapid affluence," said Sharoud Al-Jundi Matthis, the program manager at the Qatar Diabetes Association, a government funded health center in Doha, the capital. As a result of these factors, Qataris are becoming obese, passing on genetic disorders at an alarming rate, and getting diabetes much more often than others around the world. They're also getting diabetes a decade younger than the average age of onset, which is pushing up rates of related illnesses and complications, like hypertension, blindness, partial paralysis, heart disease, and loss of productivity. "It's a very, very serious problem facing the future of Qatar," Matthis said.

Over the course of two generations, most native Qataris, who number only 250,000 in a nation of 1.7 million, and enjoy the benefits of a robust welfare state, went from living modest, tribal lifestyles in the Arabian desert, to living in air-conditioned villas with maids, nannies, gardeners, and cooks. Doha has mushroomed from a mere blip of beige buildings on a scorched spit of sand in the mid '90s, to a glistening glass metropolis populated by luxury hotels, fleets of shiny new Land Rovers, and fast food joints, where the young people huddle after school, sheltered from the famous Arabian heat, with temperatures hovering above 105 from late spring to late fall.

Nirmal Baba breaks his silence: 'I'm special' accepts turnover of R 235 crore

Controversial spiritual guru Nirmal Baba has broken his silence. Reacting to several media reports doing the rounds on his income and raising doubts over alleged ability to perform miracles, Nirmal Baba told a TV Channel in an interview that he had never claimed to be a miracle worker.
Nirmal Baba said that he was just an ordinary person who had been 'blessed' by God.
'I am against all forms of superstition. People follow and believe in me because I tell my followers not to believe in any form of superstition', Nirmal Baba said.
Nirmal Baba said that he was fortunate to have been 'blessed' with the ability to help people, and it was because of this that thousands believed in him.
Nirmal Baba also hit out at his brother-in-law Inder Singh Namdharee, saying he was spreading false information about him.
Nirmaljeet Singh Narula aka Nirmal Baba accepted that he did indeed start his career as a brick kiln owner. Unable to give any convincing answer as to why he was allegedly able to spiritually help people, Nirmal Baba only claimed to have been 'lucky to have been blessed with special powers'.
Nirmal Baba also refuted allegations that he paid people to pose bogus questions at his samagams and prayer meetings.
Nirmal Baba also refuted allegations that he was making exorbitant amounts of money by making people pay to ask him questions for Rs 2000, he said that all that money was used to pay off expenses and was not done out of a profit motive.
Nirmal Baba conceded however that Nirmal Durbar had a turnover of Rs 235 crores.

Bharti Airtel launched 4G LTE Network in India

Bharti Airtel launched 4G LTE (4’th Generation Long Term Evolution) network in India, starting from Kolkata. They have released the data plans, tariff details, required devices like USB modem or Indoor Wireless Gateway etc.

According to the Airtel 4G webpage, the company is going to offer 40Mbps download speed to its customer as 4G LTE-TD (Time Division LTE) technology is capable of offering up to 100 Mbps download speed and 40Mbps upload speed. But the question is whether customer will get this much download speed on their 4G devices while surfing the web? Answer is very straight, No

4G LTE is already available in different parts of world like United States, UK etc. And if you go by the experience of People already using 4G network on their devices, you would find that they actually never get a speed near to even 20 Mbps.

Here is a video demo showing Verizon 4G LTE network speed (download and upload). We should expect the same from Airtel 4G LTE as well.

Apart from the above mentioned factors, the distance between your device and the mobile tower does also play an important role. In case of LTE, a single tower may cover area around 100 KM but of course the coverage and signal strength will diminish in metros and cities where you find lot many distractions in between.

Mamata has changed after becoming CM: Kabir Suman

Trinamool Congress leader Kabir Suman has expressed shock at the actions of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said that she has changed after becoming the Chief Minister. Talking to CNN-IBN, Suman said, "I'm quite surprised, I'm amazed myself. The government of West Bengal is suffering from paranoia and a persecution mania. The moment she became the Chief Minister of Bengal, it seems that she is scared and afraid when she has no reason to be so."

Suman said Mamata would have gone against these actions, had she been in the Opposition. "Had someone else done this and she been the opposition leader, she would have opposed every step at every second, like the removal of Damayanti Sen. But the moment she becomes a ruler, I don't know how it's a total turnaround," Suman said.

Suman's strong reaction comes after a host of controversial actions taken by the Mamata Banerjee government. It comes close on the heels of a Jadavpur University professor and his neighbour being arrested for sharing a satirical anti-Mamata cartoon with others through the university e-mail system. They were later granted bail.

Academician Sunanda Sanyal also reacted strongly, saying, "Mamata shouldn't have been so touchy, if touchy people are declined to dictatorship it becomes difficult." "Actually, this is a change for the worse. Because, Mamata Banerjee is the head of the party, it should be blamed on her," Sanyal said."

Not just that, the West Bengal Police is now also probing a complaint of defamation against social networking sites, including Facebook. The complainant alleges malicious campaigning against Mamata Banerjee on social networking sites.

Artist makes George Zimmerman mug shot out of Skittles

An artist in Denver has turned an infamous 2005 mug shot of George Zimmerman into a piece of pop art.

Andy Bell, 31, used 12,250 Skittles to create a 3-by-4-foot portrait of Zimmerman, who was charged with second-degree murder on Wednesday in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

Skittles have become a small but indelible part of the shooting. Martin, 17, was returning to his father's house in Sanford, Fla., after buying iced tea and Skittles at a convenience store. It was then that Zimmerman, a volunteer neighborhood watchman, began following the teen, which later led to a confrontation and the fatal shooting.

Bell told the Denver Post that he started the piece, called "Fear Itself," after initially hearing about the killing. "I wanted to do all I could to raise awareness about the case," he said. In recent weeks, of course, the case has received no shortage of national attention.

The artist says he mapped the candy design in Photoshop before having his wife and friends assist him in gluing the hard, fruity candy onto plywood. "It became family puzzle night," he told the Post.

The work, is being featured at the RedLine Gallery in Denver, Colo. Despite the ominous look of the artwork, Bell tells the Post that he has sympathy for Zimmerman, and that he's not rushing to judgment on the case. Meanwhile, the gallery's executive director, PJ D'Amico, marveled at the creation, saying it's a "crazy, terribly beautiful piece," that is "profound beyond measure."

The Associated Press points out that Skittles joins a list of other snack foods that got sucked into less-than-favorable stories. Twinkies, Kool-Aid, and Doritos all have had to deal with becoming parts of controversies that weighed on their brand names.

Katherine Sredl, an assistant professor of marketing at the University of Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business, told the AP that companies should keep a healthy distance from the controversies.

Putting Women on the Agenda in Cartagena

It's the Americas' largest reunion. Happening every three years, the Summit of the Americas brings together the heads-of-state of the region to talk about pressing concerns. Over the weekend in Cartagena, Colombia, the theme will be "Connecting the Americas: Partners for Prosperity," but some of the liveliest debates are likely to focus on discussions around decriminalization of personal drug use. Proponents of the plan suggest it will decrease the high levels of violence in some of the countries in the region.

A lot of important issues didn't make the agenda. This is reasonable. It is a two-day summit to address the most-pressing concerns of the region in a room filled with dozens of presidents and prime ministers. Can you imagine? Reaching even small conclusions is surely a challenge. But, in a year in which violence in the region will be at the top of all discussions, it's telling that once again another type of violence that may affect as much as 25 percent of the population hasn't made the cut.

Gender-based violence plagues countries in the region, including Colombia, the host, as well as the United States, which plans to send almost 700 people in its delegation. This type of violence even permeates the communities in and around the conference center where the summit will be held. Several weeks ago, I was in Cartagena speaking with women who have suffered unspeakable acts of violence mere miles from where the region's heads of state will gather in lavish style.

While the violence against women and girls in their homes does not on its face seem to have the same destabilizing effect on democracies, it would be wrong for governments to think it's not an issue worthy of discussion at these types of high-level regional gatherings.

The World Bank has found that gender-based violence has a negative economic impact on countries in the region, limiting women's contributions to social and economic development. The result can be a massive drain on economies in the Americas. The World Health Organization, summarizing various studies, found that violence against women and girls accounts for a 1.6 percent loss of GDP in Nicaragua and a 2 percent loss in Chile. It costs the U.S. almost $13 billion annually.

Other studies have found that gender-based violence is a major cause of ill health among women and girls, from complications during pregnancy to depression to physical disability. This health impact acts, according to the World Bank, as "an impediment to the accumulation of human capital." In other words, it prevents many women and girls in the Americas from investing in their own development, through education or other means, preventing them from better participating in the economy. The take away: gender-based violence prevents some poor women in the Americas from lifting themselves out of poverty.

The Associated Press, citing an anonymous tip, reported that the allegations involved prostitutes in Cartagena, the city hosting the gathering. The AP also said 12 agents were involved. The Washington Post cited the president of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, Jon Adler, as saying that the allegations were tied to at least one agent being involved with prostitutes in Cartagena.
Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan declined to confirm that the conduct involved prostitutes.
"There have been allegations of misconduct made against Secret Service personnel in Cartagena, Colombia prior to the President's trip. Because of this, those personnel are being relieved of their assignments, returned to their place of duty, and are being replaced by other Secret Service personnel. The Secret Service takes all allegations of misconduct seriously. This entire matter has been turned over to our Office of Professional Responsibility, which serves as the agency's internal affairs component," Donovan said in a statement sent to Yahoo News by email.

Sechelt Marijuana Grow Ops: B.C. Region Mulls Draft Bylaw To Allow Large Commercial Operations

A community along British Columbia's Sunshine Coast is considering whether to implement special zoning for medical marijuana, allowing large-scale commercial operations in industrial and agricultural areas.

Councillors in the District of Sechelt have agreed to consider a draft bylaw that would allow commercial marijuana farms on some industrial or agricultural lands in the community, located a short ferry ride north of Vancouver.

The district will hold public hearings on the proposal, which have the support of the local RCMP and fire department.

The proposed bylaw would allow Health Canada-licensed growers that are producing marijuana for multiple users to set up shop in industrial zones. Licensed users who grow medical marijuana in their homes for their own personal use would not be affected.

"The zoning didn't provide for that kind of business to be operated on industrial property, so this is simply addressing that," Sechelt Mayor John Henderson said in an interview.

"The bylaws never contemplated marijuana being legal. In this case, licensed producers already exist. This is just us saying if a licensed producer wants to create a business in an industrially zoned area, they'll be allowed to."

District staff drafted the proposed bylaw after they received an application to renovate an industrial building in Sechelt to grow medical marijuana.

Lingerie Football League goes on hiatus for 2012 season

The Lingerie Football League is hanging up its garters for the 2012 season.

League spokesman Jim Wallin announced Friday that the LFL will go on hiatus until April 2013 so it can get on a warm-weather schedule in the spring and summer. Until then, players will go on promotional tours in Australia and Asia.

The seven-on-seven female league was created in 2009. Eleven teams played in the 2011 season, which culminated in a third straight championship for the Los Angeles Temptation. But, there I go, acting like the league is about football and not bras and panties and unattached garter clips.

Plans to expand into more U.S. cities and Canada will be explored during the hiatus.

Secret Service Agents Relieved Of Duty Following Colombia Misconduct Allegations

A dozen Secret Service agents sent to Colombia to provide security for President Barack Obama at an international summit have been relieved of duty because of allegations of misconduct.

A Secret Service spokesman did not dispute a tip received by The Associated Press that the misconduct involved prostitutes in Cartagena, Colombia, the site of the Summit of the Americas.

A U.S. official, who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter and requested anonymity, put the number of agents at 12. The agency was not releasing the number of personnel involved.

The Washington Post reported that Jon Adler, president of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, said the accusations related to at least one agent having involvement with prostitutes in Cartagena. The association represents federal law enforcement officers, including the Secret Service.

Ronald Kessler, a former Post reporter and the author of a book about the Secret Service, told the Post that he had learned that 12 agents were involved, several of them married.

Donovan said the allegations of misconduct were related to activity before the president's arrival Friday night.

    5 Steps To Mind-Blowing Sex

It's a shame that even though women are making equal pay for equal work and rising in the ranks of business, industry and the professions, when it comes to sex, many of us are still not getting our due.

Some bad old habits and beliefs are keeping us from having the best sex possible. I'm suggesting seven simple, common-sense ways for women to have more fun and fulfilling sex:
    1. Don't Talk Yourself Out Of What You Need
It's too easy for us women to convince ourselves to settle for less. We're so helpful and accommodating, so eager to please and afraid of rejection that we're quick to give up the things we need, including when it comes to sex.

What we need to see is that doing this will leave us chronically frustrated. While it's true that every relationship requires a certain amount of compromise, going without the things that we really need just doesn't work. We'll end up unhappy in the relationship or resentful toward our partner.

The bottom line is, we need to know what we can't live without, sexually, and what we just can't live with. We ignore these non-negotiables at the expense of a fulfilling sex life.
    2. Accept Your Body As It Is Now
We need to be in touch with our bodies; with what feels good, what feels not so good and what feels wrong. We also really need to stop judging ourselves in terms of our weight and our shape. Only a superficial dope would give us a hard time over our imperfections. If someone makes us feel bad about our physical selves, this is more a reflection of his inadequacies than of our own.

Our negative self-talk has to stop. The running commentary on how fat we are, how much cellulite or how many wrinkles we have is guaranteed to kill the mood, often before it even starts. Feeling good about our bodies is crucial if we're going to let go and enjoy ourselves. Being physically self-conscious will keep us from experiencing the joyful abandon of great sex.
    3. No Pets In The Room
We might love Fluffy or Rover, but they don't belong in the bedroom when we're being intimate. Our pets are very territorial and could get jealous or want to play, too. Dogs might bark or even growl. Cats might jump onto the bed and start walking around. We can avoid these disasters by remembering to shut the door and leave our four-legged friends outside.
    4. Enjoy The Give And Take
The best sex is the kind in which each person is trying to please the other one. The sharing in sex is one of the things that make it great. It can be technically amazing, but when one person gets the impression that the other person really isn't there with them, it can ruin the whole experience.

What makes someone a fantastic lover is not their technical ability or their repertoire of moves but their attentiveness and their efforts to make their partner happy. When both people show that they really care about meeting their partner's needs, sex becomes something wonderful.
    5. Share Your Needs And Feelings With Your Partner
If you can't ask them for what you want in bed, you shouldn't be sleeping with them. Good sex happens when we feel safe and at ease. If we're afraid to ask for something or to tell our partner that we don't like something, sex will never be more than mediocre.

This second tip follows from the first one, in that once we identify what we want and don't want, we have to express these things clearly. It's unfair to expect our partner to be a mind-reader and "prove" that they care by somehow knowing what we want without our having to tell them. Healthy sex comes out of healthy communication.

Mitt Romney warns NRA against an 'unrestrained' second-term Obama

Mitt Romney drew a warm reception from the National Rifle Assn. on Friday as he attacked President Obama for “employing every imaginable ruse and ploy” to restrict gun rights, which Romney pledged not to do if elected in November.

Although gun control groups have complained that Obama has done little to support their cause, Romney took a page from the NRA leadership, which has been saying that the president is waiting for a second term to crack down on firearms. He warned that Obama would “remake” the Supreme Court in a second term, threatening constitutional freedoms.

“In a second term, he would be unrestrained by the demands of re-election,” Romney told a crowd estimated at 6,000 in the cavernous Edward Jones Dome. “As he told the Russian president last month when he thought no one else was listening, after a re-election he’ll have a lot more, quote, 'flexibility' to do what he wants. I’m not exactly sure what he meant by that, but looking at his first three years, I have a very good idea.”

Referring specifically to the right to bear arms, Romney said: “If we are going to safeguard our 2nd Amendment, it is time to elect a president who will defend the rights President Obama ignores or minimizes. I will.”

Romney’s speech came at the NRA’s Leadership Forum, which always draws top conservative speakers. Also expected to speak Friday were three of Romney’s former rivals for the GOP nomination, former Sen. Rick Santorum, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Texas Gov. Rick Perry, as well as a panoply of other Republican stars, including House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Sens. Chuck Grassley and Roy Blunt, and Rep. Darrell Issa.

Most of the other speakers could claim a friendlier history with the NRA than Romney, who supported strict gun control measures as governor of Massachusetts and once said he didn’t “line up” with the gun rights group. But the NRA leadership has thrown its weight behind Romney, whom it sees as preferable to Obama, and Romney received several standing ovations during his speech.

Although Obama has not been responsible for any notable gun control measures, the organization has been sharply critical of some of his appointments, especially that of Eric Holder as attorney general.

Best Weekend Ever: Send Us Photos Of Your Weekend Adventures

The following Gchat took place at our desks today:

Margaret: Who's doing something fun this weekend? Regale me.
    Lori F.: I am!!!
    Emma: What are you doing?
    Lori F.: I'm having a cheese party
    Margaret: A cheese party.
Lori F.: My boyfriend made it very clear that we can't call it a wine and cheese party. It's a cheese party. (Though there will be wine.)
Emma: Will there be brie? And photos of said brie?
Margaret: Why can't it be called a wine and cheese party?
(And will there be pictures of unsaid wine?)
Lori F.: Yes, obviously there will be pictures. I always take pictures of my food.
    Margaret: Obviously.
Lori F.: You've seen them many times on Facebook.
Margaret: I never take pictures. Is that bad?
Emma: Since we don't spend enough time together during the week, it would be good to keep your co-workers abreast of your weekend adventures.
Lori F.: Emma, I can't believe you forgot that we all went to a movie like two weeks ago
Margaret: And are again this weekend.
Margaret: What am I supposed to make you aware of? That I am doing laundry and having an incredibly photogenic phone conversation with my mom?
Lori F.: Take a picture of your TV. You're obviously watching 'Girls.'
Margaret: If I'm taking photos of my TV, other people also have to take photos of their weekends. Even if they are not hosting cheese parties.
Emma: Agreed. Besides, if you use Instagram you'll look really hip even if you're cleaning your apartment.
Lori F.: True. It even made our office printer look stylish. But actually you shouldn't take a picture of your TV -- it's supposed to be beautiful outside. You should do something fun. (Not that TV isn't fun.)
    Margaret: I am fun.
Lori F.: I need to go home -- er, cheese shopping.
Margaret: Wait. If I am being forced to photograph my weekend,
I suggest we ask other people do the same and send the photos to us.
Then we will have fun photos to look at Monday morning
and will be only mildly envious of the more interesting stuff other people are doing.
Except those people having cheese parties. I will be REALLY envious of those people.

Stars Of The '90s: 14 Teen Idols We Wish Would Make A Comeback

J-14, Teen Beat, Tiger Beat, BOP. If you were a pre-teen girl in the ‘90s, you probably recognize the names of these teeny bopper magazines. You also may have plastered your walls with their glossy pullouts, printed with uber-cheesy photos of teen idols (don't miss TresSugar’s extensive collection).

James Van Der Beek (a.k.a. Dawson Leery) has recently re-entered the world of television -- and the cultural zeitgeist -- on “Don’t Trust the B-- In Apt. 23.” And the best part is, he’s playing himself! During the first episode he brings a girl back to his apartment, only to have her start playing “I Don’t Want to Wait.” It was hard to watch without getting a serious pang of ‘90s nostalgia: Beanie Babies! Lisa Frank! The Macarena! It was also hard to watch without thinking about those other teen boys that captured the hearts (or at least infatuated) of young women everywhere during that decade. So here’s to you, JTT, BSB and everyone who wasn’t lucky enough to have an acronym. We wish you’d join Dawson and come back into the spotlight. (Important note: Justin Timberlake and Will Smith have only been left off of this list because they’re still superstars.)

Real Estate Sale Prices Impacted By Gender, Attractiveness And Race

The economy may not be the only thing determining your home's sale price. According to a new study, how attractive your real estate agent is can have a serious impact as well.

The research, published last month in the journal Applied Financial Economics, looked the personal characteristics of real estate agents, including looks, gender and race. The study's authors then compared those characteristics to the prices that houses sold for and the amount of time they stayed on the market. The size, location and quality of each property was controlled for, news site Big Think reported. Even with those factors controlled for, the researchers found that looks and gender mattered -- a lot. The researchers found that it can pay -- literally -- to hire a female real estate agent. According to Big Think:

Both male listing agents (those acting on behalf of the seller) and male selling agents (those acting on behalf of the buyer) are associated with lower house prices than their female counterparts.

The gender of the agents did not, however, have any impact on the length of time a house stayed on the market.

In contrast, the level of attractiveness impacted both a property’s selling time and its price point. Good-looking agents tend to sell their properties for more money -- especially attractive listing agents -- but these properties also tend to be on the market for a longer period of time. Jezebel’s Dodai Stewart believes that this discrepancy makes sense, writing that:

humans are visual creatures, and if some polished, pleasing-to-the-eye power broker who looks like a million bucks tries to sell on something worth a million bucks, we're probably going to agree to the price. That's just how sales works! The pretty people in Prada have known this for years.

This the latest in a series of studies to find that there are advantages to being conventionally beautiful. Attractive men and women tend to earn between 10 and 15 percent more on average than their unattractive counterparts.
