Estella Warren Goes to Treatment Facility After DUI Arrest

Estella Warren, who was charged with DUI, hit-and-run and other offenses, has entered a residential treatment facility and is wearing an alcohol-detecting SCRAM bracelet, her lawyer tells PEOPLE.

"She wants to prove she isn't drinking," attorney Darren Kavinoky told PEOPLE on Friday.

The former Planet of the Apes star, 32, faces up to six months in jail on four misdemeanor charges that also include battery on a police officer and resisting an officer.

"She's committed to making the situation right and moving on in a way that's appropriate," says Kavinoky.

Britney Spears Kicks Off Tour with Support from Boyfriend Jason Trawick

Hordes of Britney Spears concertgoers cheered and chanted along as the pop star kicked off her Femme Fatale tour in Sacramento, Calif., Thursday night, but before she took the stage, the singer had some special support from her No. 1 fan.

Boyfriend of two years (and her former agent) Jason Trawick was at her side backstage, giving the costumed Spears an apparent good luck-hug in a photo she Tweeted before dominating the Power Balance Pavilion.

"It's Opening Night B–––!" she wrote.

Spears, 29, launched the show with her hit, "Hold It Against Me," bringing the glitz and the glam in her Zaldy Goco-designed ensembles.

"Can't sleep," she Tweeted after the show. "WAY too much Adrenaline right now. Sacramento was on fire tonight."

Critics seemed to share her excitement about the tour, which hits San Jose, Calif., Saturday night. "The night belonged to Britney," a Rolling Stone review read. Calling it her flashiest show yet, the report continued: "The pop star whose career seemed in danger of ending just a couple years ago has shown that she's back – hopefully this time to stay."

    Barefoot Bandit Pleads Guilty

After his alleged two-year crime spree, the Barefoot Bandit finally had his day in court.

Colton Harris-Moore, 20, pleaded guilty to seven federal charges, including burglarizing a bank, possessing a firearm as a fugitive, stealing an airplane and piloting an airplane without a license, in U.S. District Court on Friday.

Under the plea deal, Harris-Moore will serve up to 7½ years in prison and pay more than $1.4 million in restitution to crime victims, using proceeds from a film deal in the works. Any additional earnings from books, speeches or other publicity must be paid in restitution as well. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 28.

The Washington-state native earned his nickname – and notoriety – for allegedly committing numerous property crimes while barefoot.

Harris-Moore's reported crime spree led to a two-year manhunt, which ended in a dramatic high-speed boat chase in the Bahamas last July.

LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian End Honeymoon – to Work

Just six weeks after their April wedding, the honeymoon is over for LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian – at least in terms of their work schedules.

With a new TV series for him and a new album and acting roles for her, this summer will be no vacation for the newlyweds.

"We both have a lot going on," Rimes, 28, tells PEOPLE. "We've got a lot to juggle!"

This wasn't the original plan when the couple planned their wedding. Instead, they anticipated a work-free month, says Rimes.

But then, happily, NBC picked up Cibrian's pilot for the retro '60s series The Playboy Club, to debut this fall, and the start date for Rimes's CMT-movie Reel Love was pushed forward.

"We got married on a Saturday, and I left on a Tuesday to go start filming," says Rimes. "So we kind of jumped right into work."

With Rimes now on tour to promote her new music and Cibrian returning to TV, the two are "learning to roll with it" by visiting each other on weekends – and getting out of Dodge for Cibrian's birthday. (He turned 38 on June 16.)

"It's kind of cool to see both of our careers be on the upswing at the same time," says the proud wife. "We'll have years where we don't have as much to juggle, and we'll have years like this when it's kind of crazy … But things are good, and we're very, very happy."

Tom Cruise Rocks Out With No Shirt and Long Hair

Just a couple weeks after Alec Baldwin and Russell Brand Tweeted a photo of themselves in costume for their upcoming flick, 'Rock of Ages,' co-star Tom Cruise has done the same.

Early Friday, the 'Jerry Maguire' actor Tweeted a pic of himself in character as fictional heavy metal star Stacee Jaxx in the big-screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. Cruise, 48, sports long hair, skintight pants and lots of tattoos.

In the film, he sings Bon Jovi's famous hit, 'Wanted Dead or Alive.' And the director reveals he's got a good voice. "He can sing!" Adam Shankman told E! News earlier this year. "It's a miracle!"

The all-star cast of 'Rock of Ages' also includes Julianne Hough, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Akerman and Mary J. Blige.

Mildred Baena on Love Child: 'It Wasn't Arnie's Fault, It Takes Two'

After the story broke that Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered a love child with his housekeeper, Mildred Baena, she and her 13-year-old son went into hiding -- hoping to wait out the media storm that followed. But now, Baena is ready to tell her side of the story, admitting that she is just as guilty for the adulterous affair as her former boss.

But Baena, 50, didn't always know that her son, Joseph, belonged to 'The Terminator.' Although, she had her suspicions when the young boy began to resemble his Austrian father.

"It was as Joseph grew and I started to see the resemblance that I wondered -- but it became more apparent as time went on," Baena told Hello! magazine. "I knew Arnold was the father, and maybe as Joseph got older and began to look like him, [Arnold] wondered. But he never said anything to me."
Unfortunately it wasn't only Schwarzenegger and Baena that had suspicions that their affair could have resulted in a child. The former governor's wife, Maria Shriver, alluded to Baena that she also noticed the similarities between Joseph and his biological father, her husband.

"She would say things like, 'I'm here if you need to talk,'" Baena recalls. "Finally, she asked point blank. Maria asked me directly if Joseph was Arnold's son, and I just broke down. I dropped to my knees and I was crying, saying that yes he was and I was so sorry."

But Baena was not confronted with your average rage-filled wife, having just discovered that her husband classically cheated on her with the family's housekeeper of twenty years.

"She was so strong," Baena said. "She cried with me and told me to get off my knees. We held each other and I told her it wasn't Arnie's fault, that it takes two."

Although the news was difficult for Shriver to digest, Baena's son had a much different reaction. When she explained to him, at the age of 13, that Schwarzenegger was his biological father, Joseph simply responded, "Cool."

Rory McIlroy Takes Lead At US Open 2011, Breaks Record At Congressional

In one of those can't-miss moments in sports, thousands of fans covered every inch of space on the hill behind the 10th green at Congressional. They spilled onto the clubhouse veranda, pressed their faces against the windows and lined up against the balcony railing to watch Rory McIlroy deliver a performance never before seen in the U.S. Open.

"It was Tiger Woods of 11 years ago," Ian Poulter said.

In some respects, it was even better.

McIlroy, the sympathetic figure at the Masters, was as close to perfect as golf allows Friday during a stunning assault on the record book. The 22-year-old from Northern Ireland became the first player in the 111-year history of the U.S. Open to reach 13-under par, and despite a double bogey into the water on the final hole, his 5-under 66 was enough set the 36-hole scoring record at 131.

He had a six-shot lead over former PGA champion Y.E. Yang (69), matching the U.S. Open record set by Woods in 2000 at Pebble Beach for the largest margin at the halfway point.

McIlroy went 17 holes without missing a green. He went 35 holes without making a bogey.

"It's very near the best I can play," he said.

Not since Woods destroyed his competition at Pebble Beach in 2000 for a record 15-shot victory has anyone made golf look this easy, at least for two rounds.

As if playing under complete control were not enough, McIlroy hit a wedge from 114 yards some 15 feet behind the flag on No. 8, then watched it roll down a slope and into the cup for eagle. The only time he came close to making bogey was on the par-4 11th, when he blasted out of a bunker to 8 feet and made the putt.

He tied the U.S. Open record of 12 under – previously held by Woods in 2000 and Gil Morgan in 1992, both at Pebble Beach – on the par-5 16th with a 4-iron from 223 yards that settled 8 feet from the cup.

"I told him, 'I don't think you'll see a better golf shot,'" his caddie, J.P. Fitzgerald, said.

Then came the 17th, when McIlroy hit 7-iron from 175 yards that covered the flag, barely cleared the bunker and left him 15 feet below the hole for yet another birdie to go to 13 under.

That number just isn't seen on leaderboards at the U.S. Open.

"It's crazy, isn't it?" Steve Stricker. "Pretty incredible what he's done so far."

McIlroy knows better than to start the celebration before Sunday. He was buoyed by support coming into the U.S. Open because of the calamity at Augusta National from two months ago, when he led by four shots going into the final round of the Masters and shot 80, the kind of collapse that isn't easily forgotten.

"It's been two very, very good days of golf," McIlroy said. "I put myself in a great position going into the weekend. But I know more than probably anyone else what can happen. So I've got to stay really focused and try and finish this thing off."

Rebecca Black's 'Friday' Back On YouTube As Director's Cut

Breathe easy, world. You're not going to have to suffer a "Friday"-free Friday, after all.

And what more could anyone really ask for?

The ironic hit, so big in part due to the cruelty of the internet, was pulled from YouTube as part of a legal squabble between Black's lawyers and Ark Recording Factory, where Black recorded the song. As Rolling Stone originally pointed out, Ark is a vanity recording studio that doesn't really promote its artists, so the dispute is over who has rights to the master recording of the song, as well as publicity rights, which Black's lawyers say Ark has been exploiting through various channels and products.

At one point this week, a fee of $2.99 was added to rent a viewing of the video. Black pointed out that she didn't make that decision, and soon after, the video was pulled.

Now, though, the video is back through Vevo, a company that profits off online video views. Whether it's a permanent solution remains to be seen, but the bonus is not only can you watch Rebecca Black's opus once again, you now get the director's cut.

And if you want more Rebecca Black, you can also check her out in Katy Perry's new video.

UPDATE: Black's video is not an official Vevo channel, according to Mashable:

Green Lantern' Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know

Comic book adaptations often weave a circuitous and amusing path toward the big screen. Remember when Cher was rumored to be up for the role of Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises"? But few superhero flicks can compete with the epically bizarre twists and turns that tripped up "Green Lantern" for years.

Jack Black was once tapped to play the ring-bearing protector of the universe. When the rotund comedian's version collapsed, everyone from Brian Austin Green to Justin Timberlake were rumored to be circling the green-suited superhero. Can you imagine Quentin Tarantino helming a "Green Lantern" flick starring one of these dudes? Well, the "Inglourious Basterds" director turned down the chance to take control of the project. And now, here we are. "Green Lantern" opened in theaters Friday (June 16) with Ryan Reynolds as test pilot-turned-superhero Hal Jordan, Martin Campbell ("Casino Royale") in the director's chair, and the film, we'd say, is all the better for it. But how did we arrive at this moment? To answer that question, let's slip on our power rings and take a trip back into the cinematic past with another MTV News cheat sheet. That's the only way to discover everything there is to know about "Green Lantern":

    Recharging the Lantern
After years in development hell, the project seemed finally to be moving forward in August 2008, when the DC Comics property moved back into active development with a script by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green. There was even talk that the movie would begin filming the next spring and that Ryan Gosling would take on the lead role. While Campbell eventually began to eye the film, production didn't move forward, even though Warner Bros. announced a December 17, 2010, release date.

Would filming begin in September? Would Anton Yelchin ("Star Trek") become Hal Jordan? What about fellow "Trek" star Chris Pine? Rumors, rumors, everywhere! Unsurprisingly, the release date was moved back to June 17, 2011.

Finally, in July '09, the ring chose its man: Ryan Reynolds officially landed the role of Hal Jordan.

    Greeting the Corps
"I fell in love with the character when I met with Martin Campbell," Reynolds told us a few months later. "When I sat down with him, I really got what it is that this guy is all about. When you have a guy like Martin Campbell, part of his charm is that he has balls of titanium, and the other part is that he's slightly crazy, and you have to be to take on something with the scope of 'Green Lantern.' "

No joke. The 3-D film journeys from the shores of America to the most distant planets of the universe. There are aliens galore, a villain who thrives on fear and power rings that harness willpower into fantastical manifestations, like giant machine guns and supercharged fists. Jordan finds himself at the center of it all, after he's chosen to join the Green Lantern Corps, an army of fighters chosen to protect the universe from all evils. The baddies they must confront in the film are Dr. Hector Hammond, a scientist turned lumpy-headed villain, and Parallax, a smoky enemy capable of engulfing planets and who threatens to snuff out all life forms. Into this mess steps Jordan with two quests: stop the bad guys and get the girl — a lovely test pilot named Carol Ferris, played by Blake Lively.

Lively nabbed the part in January 2010, and the rest of the cast soon followed: Mark Strong as the Lantern named Sinestro, Peter Sarsgaard as Hammond and Tim Robbins as his father, Senator Hammond.

We got our first peek at Reynolds in his motion-capture gear in May. It'd be another two months until we peeped the actor in glowing-green character. Not everyone was pleased with what they saw.

"There has to be a little healthy debate about it," Reynolds told us later. "I mean, that's important. If it were just slanted one way or the other, I don't think it would be that satisfying. And truthfully, we've only seen a tiny glimpse of the suit, you know, we haven't seen it in motion. And we haven't seen the full suit as well."

    Green Lantern's Light
The first trailer popped up in November, and once again fans were less than impressed. But Reynolds didn't sweat it. "I'm not worried about it," he told us in April. "We've never been worried about it, because we saw the early concepts and we saw how well they worked. Unfortunately, that was stuff you can't just release and show to people, because it needs to be perfected and all that stuff. I'm not worried about it at all."

Public opinion started to change this summer at WonderCon and CinemaCon, as fans got their eyes on fresh "Green Lantern" footage. "The first time I saw it was just breathtaking," Reynolds told us recently. "I think the first time it hit me that we really did it right was in WonderCon," he told us recently. "I'd been shooting in Africa at the time, so I flew back just to be there, and I was exhausted, and they put up this 10 or 11 minutes of footage, and you could feel it going like a wave through the audience."

Breathtaking was exactly our opinion of an eye-popping poster we debuted in April — one that featured a slew of Corps aliens like Tomar-Re, Abin Sur and Kilowog. Another trailer arrived in May: more aliens, more action and more of Reynolds' sometimes goofy, sometimes badass superhero. It was more than enough to get us pumped about the movie to come.

Coming back to film, Bheja Fry2 is filled with comedy. But then also it is not so much good as the predecessor one. The first version was better than this release.
    Bheja Fry 2 Story

The film has below actors in it:
    • Vinay Pathak as Tax-Inspector Bharat Bhushan
    • Kay Kay Menon as Ajit Talwar
    • Minissha Lamba as Ranjini
    • Suresh Menon as Tax-Inspector MT Shekharan
    • Amole Gupte as Raghu Burman
    • Virendra Saxena as Viru Chacha
    • Rahul Vohra as Kapoor
    • Rahul Singh
    • Aditi Govitrikar

Bheja Fry 2 Bollywood Movie Review - Story

    Bheja Fry 2

For this, he enters a game show. He plays a good game there and to his surprise; he gets success in winning a good handsome of money from there. He wins healthy cash prize. The game organizers also offer him a free stay on a Cruise Ship for some days. He didn’t opt for this cruise but when he gets, he did not want to deny.

He accepts the offer and goes on the cruise, where he meets Ajit Talwar. Ajit is a big businessman and is on the ship to escape from the raids of Income Tax Department. MT Shekharan wants to disclose the identity of a tax-defaulter person. He gets into dozens of disguises so that no one could resemble him as an inspector. He wants to catch the fraud person who is hiding his money and not paying the correct taxes to the government.

Many odd occurrences are played on the ship and after all done; Bharat Bhushan and Ajit Talwar are left on an island. Here, Ajit realizes that Bharat is really a stupid person and a pain for him. His stupidity drives him nuts. Raghu Burman is a Bengali person who is the inhabitant of this island. His moustaches will give you somewhat reason to laugh. This is the place from where the real story begins. If you want to know how they succeed in escaping from the island then you must watch this bollywood movie.
    Bheja Fry 2 – Review

The movie revolves around the comedy genre. But as I said just in start that you will not be entertained as much as in First Version. In this second release, you will get some laugh in the first half of the film and when the second half will start, you will just wait for the end to come.

Kay Kay Menon and Vinay Pathak are not able to work as much as other stars show their performances in other features. Minissha Lamba is good but her role is not as much that you can boast of her. Because of his moustaches, Amol Gupte deserves the appreciation.

The script is weak and the story-writer and director Sagar Ballary is not able to show good direction, either in film or in the story itself.

Music Directors Sneha Khanwalkar, Ishq Bector and Sagar Desai are also not been able to match the music with the movie but singers Shree D, Apeksha Dandekar, Rekha Rao and Dolly Peters did their job very good. But how one can appreciate them when the music is not so melodious. And so the work of Lyricists Sonny Ravan, Shree D and Shakeel Azmi. Sagar Desai has given the background music.

You will drag your bheja after watching this Bollywood Movie. I did not like the editing by Suresh Pai. The CDs and cassettes are marketed by T-Series.

Bala one of the popular directors in Tamil film industry is coming back with another full fledged commercial movie Avan Ivan with an aim to make a profit.

Vishal, Aarya, Madhu Shalini and Janani Iyer are playing the leading roles in the film.

Normally director Bala films will have comedy scenes but Avan Ivan has more comedy scenes. The film is family oriented but at the same time it carries loads of action, comedy and sentiment etc. Avan Ivan is the story of two siblings where Vishal sported the look of a squint eyed boy throughout the film which is perhaps the first time in the history of Tamil cinema. Apart from doing this daring act, Vishal is going to play as a transgender which is yet again a bold attempt. Yuvan Shankar Raja has rendered the music with the smashing experimental songs and he changed his regular style and tried something different where flowered with success.

    Avan Ivan Review

The film is releasing worldwide in nearly 700 screens and it is opening in 17 screens in Chennai city and suburbs. The film is releasing in 350 screens only in Tamilnadu.

The expectations on the film are running high as a multi- starrer has not released for quite some time and especially because of Bala’s direction.

The Telugu dubbed version which is titled Vaadu Veedu is also releasing tomorrow.

Kalpathi S. Aghoram of AGS Entertainments has produced the film. Arthur A. Wilson and Sreekar Prasad have done the cinematography and editing respectively.
    Movie Review

Director Bala weaves characters and movies out of ubiquitous people, considered undesirables by the better offs. Gravedigger, drug peddler, sex worker, cannibal; and Bala could keep pulling out these characters from our everyday life to make movies. And in Avan Ivan, it's a light-hearted zamindar, two thieve step brothers, their foul mouthed moms and an 'everyone knows everyone' countryside.

A sizable chunk of viewers, who have experienced Bala’s movies, consider him crude and heartless in creating his shady characters; but the underlying truth is that, he has implied time and again on screen, that these undesirables too could laugh, love and live like anyone. Bala has been the USP for his movies, but for Avan Ivan, it's also the squint eyed Vishal and the shaggy Aarya.

    Avan Ivan Review

G.M Kumar plays the dethroned Zamindar, who still rides on the pride that his kingdom owned the landscapes around him. He cares for his villagers like his own subjects, just the way his forefathers did. Stepbrothers Walter Vanangamudi (Vishal) and Kumbideran Saamy (Aarya) are thieves. That’s right! 'Kumbideran Saamy', Aarya’s pseudonym, which he believes will make the pestering cops call him with respect, though they don’t mean to.

Aarya, the younger brother, is an elusive thief with a quick sense of mind, while Vishal is a simpleton, who tries his hand at thievery, with little success. Vishal’s heart lies in plays, acting and dance, which makes him believe, he is more of an artist than a thief. Both the brothers are the trusted stooges of the Zamindar, who lives alone in his humongous bungalow. Though they occupy each sides of the Zamindar, the brothers do not see eye to eye, and Arya constantly sniggers at Vishal for his effeminate side.

Bala’s characters are powerful, but they seem to lack a gripping storyline to play on, compared to his earlier movies. Vishal as the gender-confused individual, movingly brings the man and woman out of him. He also expresses exceptional talent as a reluctant thief, who feels he is better off on a stage performing. Arya as Kumbideran Saamy is witty, assertive and shows no remorse in snubbing his stepbrother. Arya’s coming of age role we can say. Bala always injects an amount of animal into his characters. Vishal’s reptile like moves and Aarya’s baby baboon type movements again prove Bala’s signature.

Rajinikanth, in a message to his fans, said though he wanted to invite all of them to the marriage, he was unable to do so because of space constraint and logistic reasons. "Hence, with a heavy heart, I took a decision not to invite you. But I request you all to bless the couple," the superstar said.
The wedding was attended by high-profile people like Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, Telegu star and Praja Rajyam President Cheeranjeevi, Kamal Haasan and actor Surya with wife Jyothika among other big names.

Arora theatre shuts to revamp for Robot release

As Rajnikanth's 'Robot' nears release, Arora theatre, a Mumbai- based theatre, famous for screening Rajni's films closed for renovation on Sunday 19th September. While it is the first time a theatre has shut its business to prepare for a release, theatre owner, Mr Nambi Rajan believes it's only fair. He said, "I don't want to disappoint the Rajni fans. Rajni's release is like god is coming to cinema. In south India, his releases are like festivals and people paint their homes, so I am painting the theatre and remodeling the seats."

To manage these renovations, Arora theatre will be shut for four days. The revamp was scheduled assuming the initial release date of September 24, but now that it has been postponed to October 1st, the theatre owner is hardly hassled. While the Rajni mania grips one and all, this is the first time when a theatre actually closed doors to renovate when a commercially successful film ('Dabangg') was being screened. Nambi Rajan who is himself a devoted fan of Rajni adds that any expense incurred for Rajni's film is worth it. He says, "My theatre is going to close after this film. There is a proposal to construct a multiplex in its place but I was just waiting for the release of this film."

It's famously cheap but Asda's boss says his food isn't good enough - is he right?

Nothing epitomises Asda’s cheap and cheerful image better than the self-effacing little yellow label it puts on reduced foods.
The labels read: ‘Oops’ — a jokey way to shift food that has to be quickly sold or removed from shelves.
However, having to knock £1 off a chicken reaching its sell-by date is nothing compared to the gaffe new Asda boss Andy Clarke made last week.
Mr Clarke stunned business analysts by admitting the supermarket’s food isn’t up to scratch. The fruit, vegetables, fish and meat for sale in the company’s 377 stores is not good enough, he said.
‘Food quality is something Asda hadn’t been as focused on in the past as it should have been,’ admitted Mr Clarke.
Yet for decades, Asda has boasted of championing consumers by forcing down food prices. Loyal customers swear by the allure of good-quality at rock bottom prices — a message that has been rammed down our throats by the ‘Asda price’ adverts launched in 1977, in which customers tap their pockets twice, producing a chinking sound, as the coins they’ve saved knock together.
But it’s not just cost today’s discerning food shoppers care about. Ingredients, additives and knowing exactly where their food has come from is now just as important. Many customers are also prepared to pay more for quality, hence the popularity of supermarket premium lines.
So what’s the truth about Asda food — can it really as bad as Mr Clarke claims?

Cake Boss star Remy Gonzalez arrested over allegations he sexually assaulted a minor

Cake Boss co-star Remy Gonzalez has been arrested over claims he sexually assaulted a minor in New Jersey, according to the website TMZ.
The website claims that Gonzalez, who is a key player on the TLC reality show and brother-in-law to cake 'boss' Buddy Valastro, is still being held in Morris County Jail where he's been since August 18 when he was arrested.
Officers tell TMZ that Gonzalez was charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child. There are no details at this stage of the exact nature of the charges.

He is being held on $300,000 bail. The TLC show features a family-heavy team working under renowned cake artist Valastro at Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop in Hoboken, NJ.
Valastro supervises a team that includes his mother, four sisters and three brothers-in-law including Gonzalez who is married to Valastro's youngest sister Lisa.
In a statement, a spokesperson from TLC said: 'We support Buddy and the Valastro family during this very difficult and challenging time. The network respects the family's wish for as much privacy as possible, and as this doesn't involve us, we will not be commenting any further.'
Cake Boss chronicles Buddy's over-arching desire, in the words of the TLC website, 'to achieve his late father's dream of making Carlo's Bake Shop a household name with or without the help of his family.'

Johnny Damon was told Monday by the Detroit Tigers that he had been claimed on waivers by the Boston Red Sox, but the outfielder said he was mulling over the move.

Damon, 36, has until Wednesday afternoon to decide whether he will go to the Red Sox, for whom he played from 2002 to 2005. Damon has a partial no-trade clause in his contract and Boston, where there were hard feelings by fans after he bolted for the New York Yankees, is one of the clubs he can veto.

    Marlins finances divulged

The Florida Marlins made big profits with baseball's smallest player payroll in 2008-09, and team President David Samson says the income was needed to ensure being able to borrow money for a new ballpark.

Team financial statements acquired by Deadspin.com show the Marlins netted $49 million during the two seasons, with operating income of $37.8 million in 2008 and $11.1 million 2009. Samson didn't dispute the figures during a conference call.

The Marlins had the lowest player payroll in the majors both seasons — $22 million in 2008 and $37 million in 2009.

Florida's new home is expected to open in 2012. Total cost of the project is estimated at $609 million, with the Marlins paying more than $120 million.

    Former umpire Davidson dies

Satch Davidson, the plate umpire when Hank Aaron hit home run No. 715 on April 8, 1974, to surpass Babe Ruth as the all-time leader at the time, has died. He was 75.

Davidson's family said he died Saturday at his home in Houston. The family did not give a cause of death.

Davidson spent only three years in the minors before getting hired as a National League umpire in 1969. A bad back forced him to retire after the 1984 season.

Shanna Moakler Makes $100K By Throwing Tantrums

Shanna Moakler, The stories about dangerous, young adults have been afraid to threaten a staple of B-movies and bad TV for decades. But recently, adolescents tend to be portrayed in a more pleasant light (“High School Musical,” “joy,” the phenomenon of Justin Bieber). So I was happy to see the frightening issue-teen return with a vengeance in “Bond of Silence” (9 pm, Lifetime), starring Kim Raver (“24″).
Like many tragedies of television, “Bond” begins in yuppie heaven. Beautiful wife Katy McIntosh (Raver) is the preparation of soup when her handsome husband and running triathlete attorney Bob (David Cubitt, “Medium”) out of the shower and gives her a hug. What could go wrong?
Against the background of this scene of domestic bliss, a year-end party gathers across the street, full of underage drinkers and young people without supervision. What could go wrong?
When the game outside the field of play awakens his daughter, Bob brings a team of responsible parents to approach and talk some sense into the children confused.
Only Bob never returns. Taken to hospital after being found unconscious in the chaos drunkard, was supposed to die of a heart attack. Again, studies, seems to have been beaten or kicked to death and that one (or many) of children killed by a loving husband and father.
This is where the real mystery and where “Bond of Silence” begins to spin out. The film never decides whether it is the search for justice for Katy (the natural course of a Lifetime movie) or a test of conformity to the school students’ near-pathological aversion to tipping. This last topic was covered much better in the dark 1986 independent film “River’s Edge.” In trying to tell both sides of this sad story, real life, “Bond opts for a rather bland average.
    - Five years after Hurricane Katrina, the director Spike Lee returns to New Orleans in the document of the film in two parts: “If God wants and not Rise Da Creek” (9 pm, HBO, concludes Tuesday).
    - The documentary “Witness: Katrina” (9 pm, National Geographic) sacrifices more than work a dozen filmmakers’ by news crews and government agencies for amateur videographers to capture the chaos, confusion and anger in display during the great storm of 2005.

Miss Universe 2010 Is Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete

Meet Miss Universe 2010: Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete was crowned Miss Universe 2010 during the Miss Universe pageant at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Monday night.

The stunning brunette from Guadalajara inherited the title from Venezuela’s Stefania Fernandez and beat out 83 beauty queens from all over the globe — including Miss USA Rima Fakih — on stage in Sin City. In fact, the 22-year-old nature enthusiast defeated favorites from Ireland, the Philippines and Venezuela to become the 59th winner of the crown in a show broadcast live around the world. In a major shock, this year’s Miss Venezuela failed to make it past the first cut, when the 83 contestants were whittled down to 15. Miss USA, another favorite, was also eliminated early on.
Navarrete is Mexico’s second Miss Universe; Lupita Jones of Mexico won the title in 1991. Navarrete’s title comes with a package of prizes — including an undisclosed salary, a luxury New York apartment with living expenses, a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy with housing after her reign is complete, plus jewelry, and shoes and a new wardrobe.
Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillipps was crowned second runner-up. Miss Australia Jesenti Campbell is second runner-up. The Miss Congeniality Universe award went to Campbell, while Miss Thailand Fonthip Watcharatrakul won Miss Photogenic Universe and a second award for having the Best National Costume.
Miss Universe joins Miss World as the most publicized beauty contest in the world. California clothing company Pacific Mills founded the contest 1952 and it was acquired by Donald Trump in 1996.

    The Miss Universe Pageant

Miss Mexico won the Miss Universe title Monday night, but that wasn’t the pageant’s biggest surprise.
Heck, we could think of seven of them:
    1. Donald Trump, announcer. The Donald provided intros between segments. What? Don Pardo was busy?
    2. Chi is apparently some big hair product. At least that’s what the ads said.
    3. NBC must be on hard times. Other than the Chi ads, the show was filled with commercials for upcoming NBC shows.
    4. Breast implants are out of fashion.
    5. Criss Angel, judge?
    6. Bret Michaels, host?
    7. “Apprentice” contestants are lurking. Could the judges be likely finalists for the reality show’s next lineup?
Bonus: The “Viva Elvis” people don’t miss a chance to push their show. How many times will we see the plastic Elvis wigs before the end of the year?

Amazing Bird Flies 11,000 km Nonstop, Without food or Rest

How is it possible to fly 11,000 km without a single break? The bar-tailed godwit does it by consuming only 0.41 percent of its body weight each hour during its eight-day-long flight.
Every autumn, the bar-tailed godwit undertakes the eight-day journey from Alaska to New Zealand.
The bird flies non-stop, without once breaking the journey to rest or eat. Then when spring comes, the bird makes the 11,000 km journey back to Alaska.
Professor of Ecology Anders Hedenstrom from the Lund University, Sweden has pondered over how this species of bird can fly so far without stopping. The distance is twice as far as previously known non-stop distances for migratory birds.
Hedenstrom emphasises that the bar-tailed godwit is far superior to all aircraft constructed by humans when it comes to the art of flying for a long time without a break, according to a statement of the Lund University.
The long-distance flight record for aircraft is held by the QinetiQ Zephyr, an unmanned solar-powered craft. It can remain airborne for 82 hours, around three-and-half days, compared with the bar-tailed godwit's eight-day flight.
But what is it that makes the bar-tailed godwit able to fly 11,000 km without pausing to stop? How can these birds manage without sleep or food for eight whole days?
One explanation is that they consume unusually little energy compared with other species of birds. Anders Hedenstrom has calculated that the bar-tailed godwit consumes 0.41 percent of its body weight each hour during its long flight.
'This figure is extremely low compared with other migratory birds,' he says. However, other factors also play a role. It is important to have the right ratio of body weight to size to be able to carry sufficient energy for the entire flight.
The energy mainly comprises body fat, and to some extent also protein. It is also important to have an aerodynamic body shape so that air resistance is minimised. A further success factor is flight speed.
The bar-tailed godwit is a quick flyer, which means that it can cover long distances in a reasonable time.
A comparison can be made with a completely different group of long-distance travellers from the animal kingdom - eels.
To complete the bar-tailed godwit's 11,000 km journey would take the eel 345 days, according to Hedenstrom.

    TRIBES:WONDERFUL Tribes of Africa Wallpapers

    http://www.trendsone.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/wonderful_tribes_africa_Funzug.org_10-230x345.jpg

The Daasanach or Dassanech tribe is one of the ancient tribes of Africa. These pastoralists live in three different East African countries, Kenya, the Sudan, and Ethiopia. They number some thirty-thousand and the center of their population is near Lake Turkana in the Debub Omo Zone of the Lower Omo Valley of Ethiopia. The neighboring Turkana tribe calls the Daasanach people the “Merille” tribe. Recently, many Daasanach have been converted to agriculturalists as have many tribes of Africa. This is primarily a result of their losing access to their traditional territories in Kenya and the Sudan Unfortunately, their new way of life as agriculturalists has forced them to live near permanent water sources on the Omo River where diseases such as sleeping sickness transmitted by the tsetse fly has been taking its toll on this and other native tribes of Africa. The Daasanach tribe speaks a Cushitic language in the Afro-Asiatic linguistic family unlike many of their neighbors such as the Surma (Suri), Mursi and Nyangatom tribes which speak languages in the Nilo-Saharan family. “Shangilla” is a derogatory term that some of the neighboring African tribes use for the Daasanach tribe.  Similar to many tribes of Africa, the Daasanach have various clans which are inherited by patrilineal descent. In addition, their society recognizes various age sets which determines ones position in many of the traditional tribes of Africa.

The Shotgun family, however, ensured that her private life remains unblemished. And free of tattle for gossip periodicals.
Word has it that as a cover up operation the family cannily put out the word that Sonakshi had broken up with her reported love interest of many years.
And whadya know guys, a little sparrow in cinebiz trilled to us that the duo are very much together… and what's better, were spotted walking hand in hand around the bylanes of suburban Mumbai. So much for 'Operation Cover Up'.

Secret of Mona Lisa Smile Revealed

The famous smile of Mona Lisa, the magnum opus of Leonardo da Vinci, is no more a secret as scientists have decoded the technique how the Renaisance-era painter created a special effect to show the enigmatic expression.
According to the experts, the artist managed to achieve his trademark smoky effect, known as sfumato, on the painting by applying up to 40 layers of extremely thin glaze thought to have been smeared on with his fingers.
The glaze, mixed with subtly different pigments, creates the slight blurring and shadows around the mouth that give Mona Lisa her barely noticeable smile that seems to disappear when looked at directly.
With the help of X-rays, the researchers were able to see how the layers of glaze and paint had been built up to varying levels on the face, The Telegraph reported.
With the drying times for the glaze taking months, such effects would have taken years to achieve.
The findings also suggest that he used his fingers to apply the glaze as there are no brush marks or contours visible on the paintings.
The new discoveries have been made by scientists at Laboratoire du Centre de Recherche et de Restauration des Musees de France and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility.
Writing in the scientific journal Angewandle Chemie, Philippe Walter, who led the study, said: 'The perfection of Leonardo da Vinci's painting technique has always been fascinating.
'The gradation of tones or colours from light to dark is barely perceptible. Above all, the way the flesh is rendered gives rise to many comments because of its crucial role in the fascination exerted by Leonardo's portraits.
'Even today, Leonardo's realisation of such thin layers still remains an amazing feat,' Walter said.
The team also studied skin tones in six other of Leonardo's most famous paintings, including 'Virgin of the Rocks', 'Madonna of the Carnation', 'Saint John the Baptist' and the 'Virgin and the Child'.
Walter and his team believe that Leonardo experimented by creating different types of glaze and with different pigments to perfect the sfumato effect.
