  • Troy Dem Officials' Home Used For Underage Sex Romp: Cops

A Troy Township Democratic official was charged with setting up a sex date with a 15-year-old boy and federal agents searched her house on suspicion she has been producing child pornography videos, police said.

Margarita Hernandez, 32, of 6901 Monmouth Drive on Joliet's far west side, was arrested about 3 p.m. Thursday and taken to the Will County jail on a warrant charging her with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Hernandez had sex with a 15-year-old Chicago boy during a prearranged July meeting at her home, police said.

Hernandez shares that home with her boyfriend, 76-year-old veteran weekly newspaperman John Gabriel. Both Gabriel and Hernandez are precinct committeemen for the Troy Township Democrats.

An official with the Troy Democrats said Tuesday he believed Hernandez is Gabriel's granddaughter. But Gabriel confirmed she is his girlfriend.

Gabriel went on to claim his much-younger girlfriend was being framed in an attempt to get back at him for exposing corruption.

"This is all a setup," Gabriel said.

Gabriel said the frame was easy to spot "If you remember how some of the people reacted when I went after some of the crooked policemen and crooked politicians."

Gabriel said he suspects a Romeoville police officer he accused of once shooting at him was behind the setup, but declined to identify the supposedly dirty cop. Gabriel said it would all come out when his girlfriend goes to court.

"This is all a mechanism to try to get even with me," he said.

Hernandez's alleged sexcapade with the teen reportedly came to light after the boy's mother learned of the tryst and went to the Chicago police, who alerted the FBI and the Joliet police.

Joliet Police Chief Mike Trafton said FBI agents searched Hernandez and Gabriel's house for evidence that Hernandez recorded sex romps with minors and added that the federal investigation is still underway.

FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde could not immediately be reached for comment.

Joliet Detective Tizoc Landeros unraveled the case, but says he believes Hernandez has had sex with even more underage boys. He asked anyone with information about her—or anyone else—engaging in sex with minors to call him at 815-724-3035 or to alert detectives at 815-724-3020. Landeros said tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers of Will County at 800-323-6734.

Landeros said the teen was first introduced to Hernandez through a friend. The friend's mother is Hernandez's cousin, he said.

'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' Releases International Poster

Summit Entertainment just released the last U.S. poster for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2," but it turns out there's still one more to check out.

The international poster for the final installment of the hit franchise has been released, featuring Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner), as well as members of the Volturi.

The film, which hits theaters on November 16, was directed by Bill Condon, who promises that this time, Bella is more focused on being a mother to Renesmee than being infatuated with Edward.

"First movie, its Bella’s intimate experiences, you know with all these incredibly important moments in her life. And then in this movie, it’s one big idea, vampire mother," Condon explains. "But it is about following her journey. And that kind of informed everything."

This week, "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" received an MPAA rating of PG-13, for sequences of violence, including disturbing images, some sensuality and partial nudity.

This can’t be safe: Virginia Tech player finds scissors on the field

Virginia Tech receiver Dyrell Roberts made an odd discovery on the field against North Carolina, when he found a pair of scissors on the field just before the Hokies ran a play.

As Virginia Tech was lining up, Roberts started gesturing to the sideline and the officials with something in his hand. He had found the scissors as he took his spot on the field. That's something you don't see every day. In fact, we can't remember ever seeing it before in a college football game.

Officials stopped the action and let Roberts run the scissors off to the sideline. Not only did he run with them, he didn't hold the scissors by the blades. That breaks just about every safety rule Roberts was taught in kindergarten about scissors, but at least he didn't run a pass route with them.

This brings up one interesting question: Why in the heck was there a pair of office scissors at the 45-yard line of North Carolina's field? Is there a stapler at the 30? Maybe a printer by the end zone pylon? In all seriousness, we're glad Roberts found the scissors when he did. That could have ended in a potentially serious injury for someone.

Jerry Jones: Cowboys are not dismayed by a 2-2 start

After an ugly loss to the Bears on Monday night dropped the Cowboys to 2-2, owner Jerry Jones is trying to stay upbeat.

Jones said Friday on 105.3 The Fan that while he isn’t exactly thrilled with the way the team has played since the impressive Week One win against the Giants, he isn’t worried, either.

“We thought we would play better in the last three ballgames,” Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. “Certainly in Seattle, we were not above expectations. But we met expectations and were elated with our first game. But we didn’t play as well against Seattle, a good team, hard team to beat out there. And certainly didn’t have the game we wanted to have out here against Tampa, but we won it. And then we laid an egg here against the Bears. So, I would say that we’re not up to expectations but certainly, at this juncture, not in any way dismayed or in any way thinking we won’t be the team that we want to be.”

The Eagles lead the NFC East with a 3-1 record while the Cowboys, Giants and Redskins are all at 2-2, and Jones thinks that leaves the Cowboys in fine shape.

“We haven’t really lost ground,” Jones said. “We might have missed some opportunities to gain ground, but we haven’t lost ground. Secondly, I think we can have a chance to be significantly better. The kinds of things that are beating us, are the kinds of things that coaches and players can correct.”

I’m not sure how Jones can say the Cowboys haven’t lost ground, considering that after Week One they were tied with the Eagles and a game ahead of the Giants, and now they’re a game behind the Eagles and tied with the Giants. But he is right that four weeks into the season is too soon to panic — and that the Cowboys need to play better than they have in the last three games.

Arians will read email from Pagano to Colts on Saturday

As the Colts prepare to take the field on Sunday without head coach Chuck Pagano to lead them, they’ll hear from Pagano, indirectly.

According to Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star, Pagano has sent an email to the team. Interim head coach Bruce Arians will read it to the players on Saturday.

“Very private,” Arians said. “He sent it to every player.  Very long. . . . When you read it by yourself, it’s very emotional.  I don’t know if I can get it out to the team.  I might assign someone to read it.”

Pagano was hospitalized on September 26 with leukemia.  Receiver Reggie Wayne, who first became acquainted with Pagano at the University of Miami 16 years ago, visited him this week.

“I sat with him a little while,” Wayne said. “He’s doing good, man.  I was kind of surprised how good he was. He’s the same. He was joking.

“He’s looking at it straight in the eyes. He understands what’s going on. He understands the tough task ahead of him. If there’s somebody that can go in and hit this out of the ballpark, it’s him.”

Six years ago, Wayne’s brother was killed in an auto accident, and Wayne had to find a way to play a week later.

“That’s how I know there’s still a game to be played no matter what the deal is,” Wayne said. “Everybody’s dealt with it their own way. We still play a kid’s game. People [are] out there making life’s decisions every day.

“Hopefully we can go out and play together, play good Colts football and come out with a ‘W’ for [Pagano].”

It won’t be easy.  The Packers, despite being 2-2, are still one of the best teams in the league.  And Arians already is bracing for a Cheesehead uprising when the Colts have the ball in their own building.

Teen picked for homecoming court as prank shines at ceremony

In a red, ruffled dress and flowers in her hair, Whitney Kropp, the Michigan high school student picked by her classmates to be on her school’s homecoming court as a prank, took to her school’s football stadium Friday for the ceremony.

“I had thoughts about not coming, but you know what, I’m glad I changed my mind and actually came out,” Kropp told NBC News.

Kropp's appearance was met with thunderous applause and camera flashes from her fellow students at Ogemaw Heights High School in West Branch, Mich., and even members of the opposing team.

Whitney Kropp, third from left, waits for the ceremony to begin at Ogemaw Heights High School's homecoming football game on Friday.

At Kropp’s side was Josh Awrey, the class of 2015’s male representative, the Bay City Times reported.

After the ceremony, Kropp, who said she had been bullied throughout her time in high school, told reporters that she was glad she decided to remain on the court.

“I’m overwhelmed," Kropp said. "I’m so happy – this is so much right now for me. The school is fantastic they treated me so well."

    'Easy target'
Kropp said last month she was initially surprised to learn that her classmates nominated her to be in the running for her school’s homecoming queen. But she said she soon felt humiliated and betrayed when she found out that it was all a joke.

Sophomore homecoming representatives Whitney Kropp and Josh Awrey give each other a hug during the homecoming ceremony on the Ogemaw Heights High School football field on Friday.

“People had bullied on me, I guess, for my looks, how I did my hair, how I dress, my height, so I guess they thought, you know, maybe someone that is different is someone that’s an easy target,” Kropp said.

But, Kropp said she pulled through with the support of her mother and the rest of the town.

"You want to protect your kid, and you feel angry and mad at what has happened, but at the same time the outpouring to help her has been beyond expected," Kropp's mother Bernice Kropp said.

Word spread quickly through the community of about 2,100 residents in West Branch. Resident Jamie Kline started a Facebook support page, gaining more than 4,000 likes in Michigan and nationwide. Personal stories of bullying and messages of encouragement filled the page.

A salon owner in West Branch donated service to cut, color and style Kropp's hair, and other local businesses paid for her dinner, gown, shoes and tiara for the dance.

Nicole Scherzinger breaks silence about battle with bulimia while with the Pussycat Dolls

While the rest of the world fell in love with Nicole Scherzinger’s beauty and talent, the brown-eyed bombshell harbored a horrible secret — a decade-long battle with bulimia.

The former Pussycat Doll is breaking her silence on her with in a revealing interview for VH1’s “Behind the Music,” airing Sunday.

“I just hated myself, I really was just hated myself,” Scherzinge says in a clip of the interview that debuted on EW.com.

During one particularly low point, Scherzinger locked herself in the bathroom after the Pussy Cat Dolls were given skimpy outfits to perform in.

Scherzinger (C) with her Pussycat Dolls bandmates holding up their award for Best Dancing In A Video at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards in 2008.

“I got my outfit and my outfit was a bra and some underwear and some garters,” she says on Sunday’s episode of the music documentary series. “I was sweating in the back room. I can’t go out. I can’t do this.

“I was not comfortable with my body.”

Nicole Scherzinger was fired as a judge on  'The X Factor' earlier this year.

Even as the group’s popularity was sky-rocketing, her fellow Dolls noticed warning signs. Scherzinger forced herself to vomit so much that the scars became noticeable on her knuckles from the stomach acid burns.

“She didn’t see a perfect figure when she looked in the mirror, Scherzinger’s best friend, Katie Morris, tells “Behind the Music.” “She said she saw thick thighs and chubby knees and she wanted blonde hair and different lips and a different nose.”

Moon River singer Andy Williams loses battle with bladder cancer aged 84

Legendary singer Andy Williams, whose recording of Moon River launched him to stardom, has died after a year-long cancer battle.

The king of easy listening – who was tonight acclaimed as having “the most beautiful male voice ever” – was 84.

It was revealed that the father of three told his children in a heartbreaking farewell on his death bed at home in Branson, Missouri, last night: “Don’t be sad, just remember the way we were” – a reference to one of his songs.

The American crooner announced last November he was battling bladder cancer, while on stage at the Moon River Theatre he had built for the town in 1992.

He told fans the disease was no longer a death sentence and vowed to beat it.

Williams went on to perform two shows a night on six days of the week for nine months of the year at his theatre.

The star, who enjoyed 75 years in show-business, had 18 gold and three platinum records plus five Grammy nominations.

Former US President Ronald Reagan called his voice “a national treasure”.

Williams achieved his first hit in the early 1960s with Can’t Get Used To Losing You – but it was his celebrated reworking of Moon River in 1961 that finally set him on the path to global fame.

He notched yet further successes decades later when his songs – including Music To Watch Girls By and Can’t Take My Eyes Off You – were used in TV shows and adverts.

Worldwide tributes poured in yesterday from fans and celebrities alike. They included singer Robbie Williams, who posted online: “God bless Andy Williams. RW x.”

Actress Liz Hurley said: “Thanks for the wonderful songs you gave the world.”

BBC Radio 5 Live’s Nicky Campbell acclaimed his “sublime voice”, while Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball said: “May his star always shine bright.”

Singer and US chat show host Kathie Lee Gifford said: “He had perhaps the most beautiful male voice ever. Perfect pitch.”

Williams was born at Wall Lake, Iowa, on December 3, 1927. His singing career began at the age of eight in church with his three older brothers.

They formed the Williams Brothers quartet and built their name on local radio stations.

“I loved singing with my brothers,” Williams once said. “We had a wonderful family life. I just didn’t have any childhood.”

In 1952 he launched a solo career. New York club slots and appearances on TV led to a record contract.

The success of Moon River led to The Andy Williams Show, which ran on TV from 1962 to 1971 and for years as a Christmas special.

He won three Emmy Awards for outstanding variety programme.

There was a uncharacteristic scandal in the mid-1970s when his former wife, French dancer Claudine Longet, was tried for shooting her lover dead.

Williams accompanied her daily at the murder trial, where she insisted the shooting was an accident.

Longet was eventually found guilty of criminal negligence and jailed for just 30 days.

The couple had three children together – Robert, Noelle and Christian. Williams wed second wife Debbie in 1991 and they remained married until his death.

Burberry Prorsum Spring 2013 – Beauty Report

The Burberry Prorsum woman this season was luscious; a young, playful and fresh fantasy of champagne pink satin and trench coats in intense colors that were loose and sexy, revealing long, bare legs and waist cinching corsets underneath. After years of nude tones and clean faces, makeup artist Wendy Rowe changed the bare image with something a bit more exciting- Burberry’s new crimson lipstick in Siren. “We’re doing a Norman Parkinson woman,” Rowe revealed. “She’s retro but also modern and has a definite forties look about her.”

There was a warmth and luminosity to the skin; the brand’s new Fresh Glow Foundation was used and dotted with its anticipated Illuminator. Cheeks were softly contoured, and powder skipped to keep the dewy effect. Hair was a little more natural, Neil Moodie prepping hair with Bumble and Bumble Does It All Styling Spray and finishing with Bumble and Bumble Briliance on the ends to keep movement and shine. This was an image of “a very British glamor,” upbeat and almost cinematic in execution. Christopher Bailey took the show to the next level; “People are stopping work to watch,” he said. “You’ve got to give them a good reason.”

navbharattimes

Natural Treatment Helps Hair Loss in Women

Many women are dismayed to see hair falling out in clumps, either following childbirth, during or after menopause or due to other causes. While some daily hair loss is normal, thinning hair and partial baldness is a frightening prospect for women. What causes hair loss in women and what natural treatments are available that are not chemically based or dangerous to health?

Causes of Hair Loss in Women

There are various reasons why a woman's hair may thin or fall out. If hair loss occurs as a result of an underlying condition or disease, the specific condition needs to be treated first.

A woman's hair loss is different to the typical receding hairline and crown loss in men. Instead, androgenetic alopecia causes a general thinning of women's hair, with loss predominantly over the top and sides of the head. Hair loss or thinning hair can be the result of:

Shampoos, dyes and hair products - shampoos, conditioners and hair colorants often contain harmful chemicals and ingredients that strip or damage hair and may even cause hair to fall out over time. Typically, there are around 10-20 types of synthetic chemicals in commercially manufactured shampoo. Always shop for an organic, natural shampoo in order to prevent damage to the hair.

Childbirth - it is common to lose hair around 3 months after childbirth. This is a result of hormone levels adjusting after pregnancy. This is a temporary problem and hair should return to its pre-pregnancy state within 6 - 12 months.

Menopause - hormonal imbalance is the most common reason for thinning hair in older women. Estrogen levels drop as a woman goes through menopause and other hormones such as DHT (dihydrotestosterone) can become imbalanced, affecting hair growth. Although female hormones may not have as much impact on hair loss as male hormones, it is still a factor when it comes to hair loss in women.

Hair loss can be the result of exposure to nuclear radiation, X-rays, anti-cancer drugs or a severe nutritional deficiency, stress, flu, pneumonia or typhoid fever.

Natural Treatments for Hair Loss in Women

A homeopath may prescribe lycopodium for hair loss after childbirth and sepia for hair loss related to menopause and childbirth. See a qualified homeopath for correct diagnosis and treatment.

An herbalist may suggest a daily intake of rosemary tea to improve circulation to the head. Rinsing the hair with nettle vinegar is said to lessen hair loss. Three herbs for balancing female hormones are dong quai, chaste tree berry, and wild yam. Combined, these herbs make a great formula for balancing female hormone levels. Always consult an herbalist for a specific condition since certain herbs can be toxic if taken in excess.

Increase intake of vitamin B complex, Vitamin E, calcium, magnesium, choline and inositol to help the hair to grow and remain healthy.

Cutting down on alcohol and sugar and eliminating nutritionally deficient junk food from the diet can slow down hair loss. Stick to a natural, healthy diet that includes good fats, protein, whole grains and plenty of organically grown fruits and vegetables in order to prevent hair loss and thinning hair. If hair loss is the result of hormonal imbalance, eat foods such as rice, potatoes, wheat, yams, apples and alfalfa. Regular exercise will help with overall health and reduce stress levels.

Pundits Agree: Romney Wins Round One—and It Wasn't Even Close

Let no one doubt New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie again. He went offscript last weekend, predicting that the narrative of the race would change Thursday morning. And lo and behold, he was right. At least for a little while, the chattering class will put a pause on all the talk about how Mitt Romney is falling behind in the polls to talk about how he managed to beat President Obama at the podium. Romney went on the offensive, forcing the president, who looked none too happy to even be there, to defend his policies. And perhaps most perplexing of all, Obama failed to mention the infamous 47-percent remark and Bain Capital, two issues that his campaign has been hammering home for months. Let’s take a look at some commentary.

Obama, like other presidents before him, “fell victim … to high expectations, a short fuse, and a hungry challenger,” writes the National Journal’s Ron Fournier. “Romney smiled and cracked jokes … Obama smirked.” It seems commentators didn’t need to watch until the end to come to that conclusion. Buzzfeed’s Ben Smith called the debate for Romney some 40 minutes in, saying the Republican’s “core success was that he won by not losing.” In Time’s Mark Halperin’s report card, it wasn’t even close. Romney got an A-, while Obama received a B-.

Although Romney may have not offered details about his plans that political junkies wanted, “someone tuning in for the first time, would surely have come away feeling that Romney was the candidate with a firm grasp of what he wanted to do and Obama the guy slightly out of his depth,” points out Bloomberg Businessweek’s Joshua Green. Indeed, writes the New York Daily News’ Joshua Greenman, Romney was “more incisive, more fluid and good-natured through it all,” and managed to be tough “without being vicious or disrespectful.”

Part of the problem was that Obama got on the wrong side of what the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza calls the “fine line between sober/serious and grim/uninterested.” He seemed to be taking on the same persona that worked for him in 2008 when he was an untested leader and was eager to prove he was ready for the job. “But now that he has been in the job for four years, Obama’s demeanor came across far less well.” The Chicago Tribune throws Obama what might be the ultimate insult, describing him as “that guy at the meeting who’s surreptitiously checking his email.”

Even Democrats were not too impressed with Obama’s debate performance. “Energy and focus all in Romney’s hands on this,” writes Talking Point Memo’s Josh Marshall, pointing out that even though Romney repeatedly “left himself open to wounding hits from the president,” Obama chose to “not go there.”

John Hinderaker at Power Line, a conservative blog, is veritably giddy: “It wasn’t a TKO, it was a knockout.” Romney “was the alpha male, while Barack Obama was weak, hesitant, stuttering, often apologetic.”

There were “no haymaker punches thrown and not much in the way of one-line zingers,” write Steve Holland and John Witesides at Reuters. “Romney, however, may have done himself some favors with crisper answers than Obama, who sounded professorial and a bit long-winded.” What’s undoubtedly frustrating for Democrats is that this was exactly the thing many had warned the president about before the debate.

And what seems to be, so far at least, the pretty unanimous view that Obama lost the debate may hurt him more than how he actually did at the podium. “Much worse for Obamas than the debate is the media's harsh verdict on his debate performance,” writes the Washington Post’s Ezra Klein on Twitter.

Mystery illness solved when family discovers new home was a meth lab

The foreclosed house for sale on the up-and-coming street pined for fresh paint and other fixes, but the Hankins family saw its potential.

Plus, at $36,000, the price was perfect for a young family trying to make ends meet in small-town Klamath Falls, Ore.

"We said, 'It needs a little bit of love, but it's got good bones,'" Jonathan Hankins recalled. "We just had no idea that those bones were poisonous."

Within days of moving in this past summer, Beth Hankins, an ER nurse, started experiencing breathing problems. Then Jonathan got migraine-like headaches and nosebleeds. By the third week, their 2-year-old son, Ezra, developed mouth sores.

"He couldn't even drink water without being in pain," said Jonathan, 32.

They were about to schedule doctor visits when a neighbor shared the bad news: 2427 Radcliffe was a former meth house.

The family ordered a $50 testing kit and had the lab expedite the results, which revealed a contamination level nearly 80 times above Oregon Heath Authority limits.

"Our walls were poisoning us," said Jonathan, who quickly moved his family to a rental home.

Buying a foreclosed house from government-sponsored Freddie Mac meant the family was informed about being responsible for detecting hazards like lead paint and asbestos, but there was no warning from real estate agents or Freddie Mac about drug activity.

Because it was being sold "as is," the couple decided to save their money and skip a traditional inspection, which would have noted superficial repairs but not the chemicals used to cook the highly addictive drug. "In the case of methamphetamine, it's an invisible toxin," Jonathan said.

Twenty-three states, including Oregon, have laws requiring sellers to disclose if a property was ever used as a clandestine drug lab. In the Hankins' case, Freddie Mac says it never knew the two-bedroom, one-bath home had a checkered past.

"We certainly empathize with the situation, but we had no prior information about the way the home had been used," Freddie Mac spokesman Brad German told Yahoo News. "If we had, of course, we would have disclosed it."

It's a Catch-22 that Joe Mazzuca of Meth Lab Cleanup, a national remediation and training company, predicts others could find themselves in. Based on national and state data, Mazzuca conservatively estimates there are 2.5 million meth-contaminated homes in the U.S. "The signs and indicators aren't always there," he said. "You don't always see the meth residue. It's extremely dangerous stuff."

His concern was echoed at a congressional hearing in August on the efforts to curb domestic methamphetamine production.

Drug czar Gil Kerlikowske, head of the president's Office of National Drug Control Policy, testified that "U.S. meth lab seizure has more than doubled between 2007 and 2010, and these labs pose a major threat to public safety and the environment."

Thrill of the chaste: The truth about Gandhi's sex life

It was no secret that Mohandas Gandhi had an unusual sex life. He spoke constantly of sex and gave detailed, often provocative, instructions to his followers as to how to they might best observe chastity. And his views were not always popular; "abnormal and unnatural" was how the first Prime Minister of independent India, Jawaharlal Nehru, described Gandhi's advice to newlyweds to stay celibate for the sake of their souls.

But was there something more complex than a pious plea for chastity at play in Gandhi's beliefs, preachings and even his unusual personal practices (which included, alongside his famed chastity, sleeping naked next to nubile, naked women to test his restraint)? In the course of researching my new book on Gandhi, going through a hundred volumes of his complete works and many tomes of eye-witness material, details became apparent which add up to a more bizarre sexual history.

Much of this material was known during his lifetime, but was distorted or suppressed after his death during the process of elevating Gandhi into the "Father of the Nation" Was the Mahatma, in fact, as the pre-independence prime minister of the Indian state of Travancore called him, "a most dangerous, semi-repressed sex maniac"?

Gandhi was born in the Indian state of Gujarat and married at 13 in 1883; his wife Kasturba was 14, not early by the standards of Gujarat at that time. The young couple had a normal sex life, sharing a bed in a separate room in his family home, and Kasturba was soon pregnant.

Two years later, as his father lay dying, Gandhi left his bedside to have sex with Kasturba. Meanwhile, his father drew his last breath. The young man compounded his grief with guilt that he had not been present, and represented his subsequent revulsion towards "lustful love" as being related to his father's death.

However, Gandhi and Kasturba's last child wasn't born until fifteen years later, in 1900.

In fact, Gandhi did not develop his censorious attitude to sex (and certainly not to marital sex) until he was in his 30s, while a volunteer in the ambulance corps, assisting the British Empire in its wars in Southern Africa. On long marches in sparsely populated land in the Boer War and the Zulu uprisings, Gandhi considered how he could best "give service" to humanity and decided it must be by embracing poverty and chastity.

At the age of 38, in 1906, he took a vow of brahmacharya, which meant living a spiritual life but is normally referred to as chastity, without which such a life is deemed impossible by Hindus.

Gandhi found it easy to embrace poverty. It was chastity that eluded him. So he worked out a series of complex rules which meant he could say he was chaste while still engaging in the most explicit sexual conversation, letters and behaviour.

With the zeal of the convert, within a year of his vow, he told readers of his newspaper Indian Opinion: "It is the duty of every thoughtful Indian not to marry. In case he is helpless in regard to marriage, he should abstain from sexual intercourse with his wife."

Meanwhile, Gandhi was challenging that abstinence in his own way. He set up ashrams in which he began his first "experiments" with sex; boys and girls were to bathe and sleep together, chastely, but were punished for any sexual talk. Men and women were segregated, and Gandhi's advice was that husbands should not be alone with their wives, and, when they felt passion, should take a cold bath.

The rules did not, however, apply to him. Sushila Nayar, the attractive sister of Gandhi's secretary, also his personal physician, attended Gandhi from girlhood. She used to sleep and bathe with Gandhi. When challenged, he explained how he ensured decency was not offended. "While she is bathing I keep my eyes tightly shut," he said, "I do not know ... whether she bathes naked or with her underwear on. I can tell from the sound that she uses soap." The provision of such personal services to Gandhi was a much sought-after sign of his favour and aroused jealousy among the ashram inmates.

jagran

jagran

Anna Camp, 'Pitch Perfect' Actress, On A Capella, 'The Mindy Project' And Why It's 'Refreshing To See Women Getting Messy'

Anna Camp is having a big few weeks. The 30-year-old actress, probably best known for her extended guest-starring roles on "True Blood" and "The Good Wife," is being thrust right into the spotlight. She stars as Mindy Kaling's best friend in television show "The Mindy Project" which premiered on September 25th and as a type-A a capella captain in "Pitch Perfect," which opens on October 5th. Camp's character, Aubrey, rules her all-female singing group, The Bellas, with an iron fist and an Ace of Base tune in a quest for a national championship. She spends much of the film attempting to force newcomers Becca (Anna Kendrick) and Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) to tow the party line. Camp spoke with The Huffington Post about the major release her character gets, working with Mindy Kaling and why it's so exciting to be a woman in the entertainment industry right now.

Obviously, “Pitch Perfect” is all about the a capella. Did you ever do a capella before this movie?
You know, I never did. It’s a lot harder than it looks! It takes a lot of practice.

Your character in "Pitch Perfect," Aubrey, is very buttoned-up and uptight on the surface, but sort of boiling underneath, and I’d say the same thing about your role as Sarah Newlin on "True Blood." Is that a type of part that you're drawn to?
Well, I’m from the South originally. I grew up in South Carolina definitely learning about manners and being proper and having to go to cotillions. I think once I graduated school, I was desperate to break out of that. But I think there’s that [instinct] inside of me, and that’s how I can have access to these types of women. And I just like playing [these type of characters]. I feel like they have so much going on underneath the surface that they don’t show, and as an actor it’s such a great challenge to suppress things and to play with that inner battle.

And I feel like for women particularly, there’s always kind of a pressure to push things down.
Yeah it’s that [sense of] wanting to be crazy and wild but having society’s expectations over your head. [It’s] that fight, that inner struggle that’s been going on for years with women. And I think that really well-written characters [like that] are especially interesting to watch and fun to play.

Aubrey is such an extreme character. Do you feel like she’s someone that women will relate to?
I do. I know she’s extreme and that she desperately wants to be perfect. But I think there’s a bit of that in everyone, even men. Aubrey’s identity is her success in this a capella world. [She] takes it to the next level, of course, because she’s consumed by it, but I think people can relate to wanting to be successful and being afraid of not being perfect at all times. I know I can relate to that.

So, there's a scene toward the end of the film (and one toward the beginning) where your character projectile vomits. When you saw that scene in the script what was your initial reaction?
When I read the first throw-up scene I was like, “This is awesome, I have to do this. I don’t want anyone else to do that.” And then I got to the final throw-up scene and I thought, “This is crazy. How are they gonna do this? Am I really gonna throw up? Are we gonna CGI this whole thing? Like, how is this going down?” But I just love that [Aubrey] gets that release -- literally and emotionally. Getting to just go crazy after being held so tightly the whole film was awesome.

You're also in "The Mindy Project." How has it been working with Mindy Kaling, your co-star and the brains behind the show?
It’s been great. This is her passion project. She’s so invested in [the show] and the cast and in making it a really collaborative process.

Kanye West Sued For Sampling Songs On 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy'

A New York label is suing Kanye West, claiming the Grammy-winning rapper illegally used portions of a 1969 song by New Orleans legend Eddie Bo on his No. 1 2010 album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In its complaint, TufAmerica says two tracks on "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" -- "Who Will Survive in America?" and "Lost in the World" -- include a bit of "Hook and Sling, Part 1" by Eddie Bo, which TufAmerica says it bought the rights to more than 15 years ago.

TufAmerica claims West's label Roc-A-Fella paid a license fee of $62,500, but "failed and refused to enter into written license agreements that accounted for their multiple other uses of ['Hook and Sling']." The label is seeking undisclosed damages for copyright infringement.

In 2010, Kanye West was sued by musician Vincent Peters over a copyright dispute regarding similarities between West's "Stronger" and a song Peters had sent West's business associate in 2006. West's legal counsel referenced the works of philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, whose maxim "that which does not kill us makes us stronger" is quoted in the song, and the court ruled in the rappers' favor.

TufAmerica is the same label that filed a copyright-infringement lawsuit against the Beastie Boys earlier this year, the day before band member Adam Yauch died of cancer. That lawsuit claimed the Beasties' 1980s albums "License to Ill" and "Paul's Boutiquet" illicitly sampled from two Trouble Funk songs TufAmerica administers.

Jared Followill, Kings Of Leon Bassist, Marries Model Martha Patterson

Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill and model Martha Patterson have tied the knot.

The couple married Saturday evening during a ceremony with friends and family at Front Porch Farms about 40 miles outside Nashville.

The marriage means all four members of the Followill family band are off the market. Older brothers Nathan and Caleb and cousin Matthew have already started families.

The 25-year-old Followill and 21-year-old Patterson were engaged last spring. Patterson wore a white dress with lace bodice and flowing feathered skirt by Monique Lhuillier and Followill wore black Gucci.

Patterson said in a Tweet earlier Saturday she's "marrying my best friend." Followill quipped that he's "dreamed about this day since I was a little girl."

Hong Kong Billionaire Offers $64 Million for Man Who Will Marry His Daughter

Hong Kong real estate tycoon Cecil Chao Sze-tsung has offered a bounty of almost $65 million for any man who will woo and marry his 33-year-old daughter Gigi Chao. Since then, offers to take Gigi’s hand in marriage have been pouring forth from all over the globe. There’s just one slight problem: Gigi’s already taken.

According to reports, the announcement came on the heels of Gigi Chao’s nuptials to her longtime girlfriend, Sean Yeung, in April. The two reportedly were married in Paris and not in Hong Kong, where gay rights are limited.

In a recent South China Morning Post article, the tycoon’s daughter criticized the territory’s conservative views toward homosexuality, saying that it lagged behind the U.S. and even mainland China. (Homosexuality was officially decriminalized in Hong Kong in 1991, but same-sex unions are still not recognized.)

In an interview with the Telegraph, Gigi said she understood the reasons behind her father’s actions. “It’s not that he can’t accept me,” she told the newspaper. “It’s that he can’t accept how society would view me and the status that it would incur. Marriage is still a form of social status. I do understand him. I understand why he’s doing this.”

Her father, meanwhile, has not publicly acknowledged his daughter’s marriage. As he told the Post:

I do not mind whether [the man who marries Gigi] is rich or poor. The important thing is that he is generous and kindhearted. Gigi is a very good woman with both talents and looks. She is devoted to her parents, is generous and does volunteer work.

Gigi, who was initially amused by the monetary offer, told the Telegraph she appreciated the gesture. “At first I was entertained by it, and then that entertainment turned into the realization and conviction that I am a really lucky girl to have such a loving daddy, because it’s really sweet of him to do something like this as an expression of his fatherly love.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger Admits To 'Hot Affair' With Brigitte Nielsen In New Book

Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted to cheating on wife Maria Shriver and fathering a love child with a member of their household staff in the 1990s. Now, The Governator is admitting to another affair with actress Brigitte Nielsen.

Schwarzenegger admits to having had a “hot affair” with Nielsen while he and Shriver were dating in the pages of his new autobiography “Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story," TIME magazine reports.

He and Shriver were not only dating, but also living together at the time the affair began, but Schwarzenegger writes that he knew the affair with Nielsen would not last. It only made him realize he truly wanted to marry Shriver, according to TIME.

TMZ reports that the affair started when Schwarzenegger and Nielsen were filming the 1985 film "Red Sonja." Nielsen first disclosed the “outrageous affair” with Schwarzenegger in her own memoir, published last year. The former California governor had not confirmed it until now. Nielsen claimed that she did not know he was involved with Shriver.

The 49-year-old actress has since been married five times, including a marriage to Sylvester Stallone. She was also involved with rapper Flavor Flav in 2005. In 2008, she appeared on "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" for alcoholism.

Schwarzenegger went on to marry Shriver in 1986. The two split in 2011. In his tell-all memoir, which will be released Oct. 1, the action star offers a glimpse at his betrayal of his wife of 25 years.

He describes the moment Shriver learned of his infidelity, according to CNN, writing: “The minute we sat down, the therapist turned to me and said, 'Maria wanted to come here today and to ask about a child -- whether you fathered a child with your housekeeper Mildred.' “I told the therapist, ‘It's true.’”

During an interview with "60 Minutes," Schwarzenegger admitted, "I think it was the stupidest thing I've done in the whole relationship. It was terrible. It inflicted tremendous pain on Maria and unbelievable pain on the kids."

Miley Cyrus To Star In 'Bonnie And Clyde' Miniseries For Lifetime And History Channel

Have you ever compared Miley Cyrus to Faye Dunaway? Thanks to a new project from Lifetime and the History Channel, that comparison is now inevitable, since Cyrus is reportedly in talks to star as the infamous bank robber Bonnie Parker in a new "Bonnie and Clyde" miniseries, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Deadline also reports that the four-hour biopic was originally developed for History Channel in the vein of their recent hit, "Hatfields & McCoys," but since the network is now a sibling of Lifetime under the A&E Networks umbrella, the project will be aired for both the male-skewing History audience and the female-centric Lifetime viewership.

The series is being executive produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who are set up at Sony Pictures TV. According to THR, Cyrus is reportedly meeting with directors for the role. Aside from a recent guest appearance on "Two and a Half Men," this will be Cyrus' first major TV role since "Hannah Montana." No word yet on who would play her partner in crime, Clyde Barrow. Lifetime currently has another high-profile biopic in the works -- the Lindsay Lohan vehicle "Liz and Dick," focusing on the tumultuous relationship between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton -- which is scheduled to air in November.

Ryan Lochte Still Getting Love From Vogue Editors

Vogue and its editors -- specifically the head honcho, Anna Wintour -- have a tendency to develop crushes on athletes.

For a long time it was tennis players, as avid tennis fan Wintour cast the Williams sisters, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in Vogue shoots and sat beside Maria Sharapova and Andy Murray at Fashion Week. Then it was basketball stars, with Dwayne Wayne and Carmelo Anthony crowding the front row and Amar'e Stoudemire shooting an original Vogue.com video with Hamish Bowles.

Now it's Olympians, with Ryan Lochte still captivating the starry-eyed gaze of Vogue editors over a month after the London Olympics wrapped. The New York Post reports that the Olympic swimmer dined with a pack of Voguettes this week in New York City, followed by drinks with designer Richard Chai.

Lochte's already landed a Vogue cover (remember that "Baywatch"-esque photo shoot back in June?) but he's got good reason to stay in touch with his magazine contacts. His his much-feared fashion line is in the works and will likely be needing some support to get the bedazzled project off the ground.

Which means, much to our chagrin, that the goofy swimmer with the hot bod isn't going anywhere. This is one celeb who knows how to push the limits of his 15 minutes... and he's got Anna Wintour to help him do it.

Amanda Bynes Dropped By Management Team Following String Of Troubles

More bad news for Amanda Bynes this week: The former teen star is being dropped by her agent, publicist and entertainment lawyer, according to TMZ.

Bynes, 26, has had a rough ride in the past year, but especially in the past week after her car was impounded due to driving on a suspended license. She's also recently showcased a series of increasingly bizarre antics, including allegedly being thrown out of a gym class for distracting behavior and locking herself in public settings such as a Starbucks restroom and store boutique dressing room.

TMZ's report says that the star's erstwhile management team "made multiple efforts to help Amanda" before finally concluding that "they can't help someone that doesn't want to be helped."

Still, Bynes insists that she is okay. She told People in a statement Thursday that she is "retired as an actor" and plans to move to New York to launch a fashion line. "I am doing amazing... I am retired as an actor. I am moving to New York to launch my career. I am going to do a fashion line. I am not talking about being arrested for DUI because I don't drink, and I don't drink and drive. It is all false," she said.

Asleep at the Chateau is a new book that features celebrities like Justin Theroux, Usher, Orlando Bloom, Eva Longoria and more sleeping at the famous Chateau Marmont hotel in West Hollywood.

Before Lindsay Lohan thought she was A-list enough to live there for months without paying her bills, the property was rich with history.

James Dean climbed through a window of the hotel to audition for Rebel Without a Cause, Jim Morrison fell off the hotel's roof, Howard Hughes had an extended residency there, and many more actors, directors, writers and artists have found solace and privacy at the Chateau.

Desperate Housewives actress is stripping down to her bare necessity in a sexy new project with photographer, Jork Weismann.

Teresa Giudice, 'Real Housewives Of New Jersey' Star, Threatens To Sue Melissa Gorga

She may be one of the least popular cast members of the "Real Housewives" franchise, but now Teresa Giudice is disputing her sister-in-law's accusation that Giudice attacked her, saying it was the other way around.

"I usually don't comment on stories about me, but I cannot ignore Melissa Marco's vicious lie that I assaulted her at my own children's birthday party while she was holding my baby nephew,” says Giudice. “It is completely untrue in every way. To make such a horrible accusation that involves our children is beyond despicable and speaks to her true character."

Melissa recently did a round of interviews, including an Us Weekly cover and an appearance on Wendy Williams' show, where she had some tough criticism for Giudice. However, Giudice and her friends refuse to remain silent over accusations that she "roughed up" anyone.

“This supposedly happened at Gia and Milania's very big, very public joint birthday party in January,” a friend of Giudice tells me. “The party was at Space Odyssey, owned by Elvira Grau, who was with Teresa the entire time. Elvira has publicly tweeted that it's untrue. It was a very public party with a hired photographer there. No one saw them do anything but talk. They didn't even hug because Melissa was holding her baby, so Teresa just kissed the baby. If anything had happened, why didn't Melissa immediately go to the press about it then? She puts every other little complaint on Twitter. Nothing.”

In what is expected to be the most dramatic "Real Housewives" reunion of all time, viewers will get to see for themselves how bad things have gotten between these two family members.

“Melissa lost it at the reunion and put her hands on Teresa,” one Bravo insider tells me. “Teresa started yelling that she was going to 'sue' Melissa, but has not taken any legal action yet.”

Kim Kardashian, Kanye West Baby: Is Kim Ready?

Kimye has only existed for six months but it appears Kim Kardashian is already envisioning what the couple's offspring might look like.

The reality star opened up about her relationship with Kanye West on “The View” recently, telling the hosts she thinks Kanye West is her “perfect match" and that he will in fact be around "permanently."

When asked if she has plans for children, Kardashian, who is reportedly off her birth control, replied, “Kids is definitely something I want, I think I wanted that before.”

So much so, that Kardashian (known for her no-holds-barred attitude) took to her Twitter page yesterday to reiterate the point to her fans.

Andrew Garfield & Marc Webb Return For 'Amazing Spider-Man 2'

It looks like Marc Webb is going to get "pregnant again." As first reported by Variety and confirmed by Deadline.com, the "Amazing Spider-Man" director will return for the film's sequel, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." Not surprisingly, star Andrew Garfield will don the red-and-blue costume again as well. (Emma Stone is still negotiating, but will likely appear too.)

In an interview with HuffPost Entertainment over the summer, Webb was unwilling to talk about the sequel.

"You know, I want to finish this up and go to a beach and think about the future," he said. "People ask about the sequel and I'm like, 'Well, you know, I don't know if I want to do that, but I love the process.' I love Andrew and Emma. But it's like asking someone who has just given birth, 'Do you want to get pregnant again?'"

In July, it was reported that Webb might not have the chance to get "pregnant again" for "Amazing Spider-Man 2." The director owed Fox a film from a previous contract, and it was unclear if that would prevent Webb from working for Sony again on such a short turnaround: "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is out in theaters on May of 2014.

All turned out well, however, as Webb will be back along with his key collaborators. "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," which was rewritten by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci ("Star Trek") from an original treatment by James Vanderbilt, is scheduled to start filming in early 2013.

For more on Webb, including what projects he has on the burner at Fox, head over to Variety.

Katie Couric opens up about battling bulimia

Viewers of Katie Couric's talk show were doubtless surprised on Monday when, during the discussion of eating disorders, Couric disclosed that she had had her own struggles with that cruel, sometimes deadly condition.

"I wrestled with bulimia all through college and for two years after that," she said, describing the guilt she felt at eating a single cookie or chewing a stick of gum that wasn't sugar-free.

But the bulk of the show was devoted to her guests, who included experts on the subject as well as its sufferers, notably singer and new "X Factor" judge Demi Lovato.

During the hour, Couric said little more about her experience, which she had never before made public.

"I kind of hesitated to even bring it up," she told The Associated Press after the taping. "But I felt that if I expect people on my show to be honest, then, when relevant, I owe it to people watching to be honest myself.

"I wanted to focus on my guests," she said, "while acknowledging one of the reasons this issue is so important to me: I went through it."

It's all part of a balance Couric is striving for on her new syndicated daytime show, "Katie," between sharing her experiences and turning her show into a personal confessional.

But in an exclusive interview with the AP, Couric, 55, shared details about the illness that first plagued her as a senior at Yorktown High School in Arlington, Va.

It began, she said, when she learned she had been turned down by the college she most wanted to attend.

Couric was a likely candidate for an eating disorder.

"Like a lot of young women, I was struggling with my body image," she said, "and feeling like I wasn't good enough or attractive enough or thin enough."

She termed her figure at the time as "curvy," and not the cultural ideal, which she identified as "five-foot-eight and weighing 115 pounds. It can be so difficult to embrace the body that you have if it doesn't fit with the ideal. Women get praised for being super-thin, so you keep striving to be that way."

She said her disorder "ebbed and flowed" through the years.

"Some periods were worse than others, when I was binging and purging a lot," she said. "I'd have a piece of gum that wasn't sugarless and then say, 'Oh! I've been bad,' and then feel so terrible that I would eat and throw up. It was awful.

"But what I'm describing is something so many people have gone through or are going through," she noted, "and it's so damaging, both psychically and physically."

Couric attended the University of Virginia, then landed her first job at the ABC News bureau in Washington, D.C. And even then, she was waging a battle with food.

With the help of a therapist, she had a grip on her condition by her early 20s, though "it didn't mean that I didn't still have issues and feel bad about myself."

But since then, she said, "I've learned how to have a much healthier relationship with food, and how to enjoy my life without obsessing about food."

She said she was glad she had shared with viewers her ordeal with bulimia, "because it's so commonplace."

And it's not the first time Couric has let the public in on a personal ordeal. Her audience shared her pain from the death of her husband, Jay Monahan, of colon cancer in 1998. The tragedy led Couric, then a co-anchor of "Today," to become an advocate for colon cancer awareness and for colonoscopies. In 2000, she underwent a colonoscopy on the air.

Best Actress In A Drama Series: Claire Danes Wins Emmy For 'Homeland'

Claire Danes took home the Best Actress in a Drama Series Emmy for "Homeland."

Danes beat out out Emmy favorite Glenn Close, "Downton Abbey's" Michelle Dockery, "Mad Men" star Elisabeth Moss, Kathy Bates for "Harry's Law" and last year's winner, "The Good Wife" star Julianna Margulies, for the award. Danes previously won an Emmy for HBO's "Temple Grandin" and was nominated in 1995 for "My So-Called Life."

Danes also took home the Golden Globe for her work as bipolar CIA agent Carrie Mathison. Her co-star Damian Lewis also took home an Emmy for his work on the series.

Obama Refers to Israel Concern Over Iran as 'Noise'

In an interview to air tonight on CBS's 60 Minutes, President Barack Obama will refer to Israel's concern over Iran's march toward a nuclear program as "noise."

"When it comes to our national security decisions -- any pressure that I feel is simply to do what's right for the American people. And I am going to block out -- any noise that's out there," Obama says, according to AFP.

STEVE KROFT: "How much pressure have you been getting from Prime Minister Netanyahu to make up your mind to use military force in Iran?"

PRESIDENT OBAMA: "Well—look, I have conversations with Prime Minister Netanyahu all the time. And I understand and share Prime Minister Netanyahu's insistence that Iran should not obtain a nuclear weapon, because it would threaten us, it would threaten Israel, and it would threaten the world and kick off a nuclear arms race."

STEVE KROFT:  "You’re saying, you don't feel any pressure from Prime Minister Netanyahu in the middle of a campaign to try and get you to change your policy and draw a line in the sand? You don’t feel any pressure?"

PRESIDENT OBAMA: "When it comes to our national security decisions—any pressure that I feel is simply to do what's right for the American people. And I am going to block out—any noise that's out there. Now I feel an obligation, not pressure but obligation, to make sure that we're in close consultation with the Israelis—on these issues. Because it affects them deeply. They're one of our closest allies in the region. And we’ve got an Iranian regime that has said horrible things that directly threaten Israel’s existence."
