  • Brooke goes goth on Broadway! Shields vamps up to play Morticia in The Addams Family musical

She looked a far cry from her usually demure girl next door persona, but Brooke Shields vamped up Broadway in a good way last night.

The actress joined the cast of The Addams Family on stage in New York City as she transformed into Morticia in the musical adaptation.

Wearing a floor-length black and purple gown, boasting a plunging neckline, the 46-year-old Blue Lagoon star was gorgeously gothic.

She also performed in Chicago in London’s West End.

'I'm young, I'm having fun': Selena Gomez keeps cool over relationship with Justin Bieber

She’s dating one of the world’s most famous pop stars, but Selena Gomez is keeping cool about her relationship with Justin Bieber, saying they're just having fun.

The singer appeared on Daybreak this morning but all she’d say about her boyfriend was: ‘It’s fun, I’m young, it’s nice, I’m having fun.’

And when ITV presenter Dan Lobb suggested that 17-year-old Justin was her toyboy, she looked shocked and said ‘What?’
After not being very impressed with the remark about her younger man, The 18-year-old then performed her new single Love You Like A Love Song in a loose T-shirt and jeans.

Selena is in London promoting her third album, When The Sun Goes Down, with her band The Scene and said she’s really excited about going on her first tour with her band this summer.
We have just released the dates for the US tour but we are definitely wanting to do a world tour too, but we’re just not quite sure when,’ she told Christine Bleakley.
While in London, Selena has also attended a signing in HMV and said her UK fans ‘are so sweet’.

Only a few days before, she had been showing off her famously slender figure in a hot pink bikini as she celebrated Independence Day.
But singer LeAnn Rimes clearly can't keep away from the beach, returning to Malibu on Wednesday in another brightly coloured two piece.
The 28-year-old country music star seemed to be enjoying showing off her slim frame as she struck up a number of poses - perhaps for the benefit of watching husband Eddie Cibrian.

Wearing several gold bracelets and dangling earrings, the star clutched a camera, while 38-year-old Eddie relaxed nearby on a sunlounger.
Later, the actor headed into the surf where he tried out his new paddle board.
'Wow it's HOT even at the beach,' LeAnn tweeted. 'Need another shower now!'
Meanwhile, the star has taken to her website to post a glowing tribute to married life and Eddie, who she wed back in April.

Mayan Warrior Sculptures Discovered In Mexico

Mexican archaeologists have found two 1,300-year-old limestone sculptures of captured Mayan warriors that they say could shed light on the alliances and wars among Mayan cities during the civilization's twilight. (Scroll down for photos)
The life-size, elaborate sculptures of two warriors sitting cross-legged with hands tied behind their backs were found in May in the archaeological site of Tonina in southern Chiapas state along with two stone ballgame scoreboards.
The 5-foot (1.5-meter) tall sculptures have hieroglyphic inscriptions on their loincloths and chest that say the warriors belonged to the city of Copan, archaeologist Juan Yadeun said in a news release Wednesday.
Yadeun said the discovery proves warriors from Copan helped those in Palenque during the city's' 26-year war against Tonina for control of the Usumacinta river.

Tamer Mohammed al-Sharei Beating Described By Fellow Protester

Inside a filthy detention center in Damascus, eight or nine interrogators repeatedly bludgeoned a skinny teenager whose hands were bound and who bore a bullet wound on the left side of his chest. They struck his head, back, feet and genitals until he was left on the floor of a cell, bleeding from his ears and crying out for his mother and father to help him.
Ibrahim Jamal al-Jahamani, a fellow prisoner who said he witnessed the brutal scene in Syria in May, heard the interrogators demand that the 15-year-old proclaim strongman Bashar Assad as his "beloved" president.
The youth, later identified as Tamer Mohammed al-Sharei, refused. Instead, he chanted an often-heard slogan from anti-regime street protests calling for "freedom and the love of God and our country."
Tamer's refusal apparently was the final straw for the interrogators.
"Guards broke his right wrist, beating him with clubs on his hands, which were tied behind his back," al-Jahamani told The Associated Press after his release from detention, referring to the beatings as torture.
"They also beat him on the face, head, back, feet and genitals until he bled from the nose, mouth and ears and fell unconscious," he recalled.
"He pleaded for mercy and yelled: 'Mom, dad, come rescue me!'" al-Jahamani said. "He was lying like a dog on the floor in his underwear, with blood covering his body. But his interrogators had no compassion that they were savagely beating a boy," al-Jahamani added, his voice breaking with emotion.
Tamer and al-Jahamani were two of thousands of Syrians caught up in mass arrests of those suspected of opposing Assad during an uprising that began in March.
Al-Jahamani witnessed the beating from a corridor lined with cells while he was waiting for two hours for the prison guards to take him to his cell. He said the corridor reeked from the stench of blood and dirty toilets and the cell beds were covered in dirty sheets.

Pamplona Bull Running Festival 2011: Thousands Gather For 'Chupinazo' Launch

Tens of thousands of people packed Pamplona's main square Wednesday for the launch of the "chupinazo" rocket — the start of Spain's most famous bull-running festival. (Scroll down for photos)

Mayor Enrique Maya heralded the first of nine days of uninterrupted festivities in the northern town as he lit the fuse from a balcony overlooking a frenzied crowd.

"Men and women of Pamplona, Long Live San Fermin!" Maya screamed, as revelers sprayed a fountain of wine, sangria, water and cava into the air. Many used toy water pistols, or leather wineskins to squirt alcohol into the mouths of those who asked. Onlookers on balconies followed suit.

"It's way more than we expected, especially just the energy. And this is only, what, the opening?" said 37-year-old Brooklyn native Malika Oyo, who was partaking with her brother Yaka.

Beyonce 'Best Thing I Never Had' Video Features Lingerie, Wedding

The best thing Beyonce never had? Well, clothing, for starters...

Actually, it's an unnamed man who scorned her back in 1998, according to the brand spankin new video for her latest single, "The Best Thing I Never Had." The second track off her new album, "4," which premiered at number one on the Billboard Charts, the song is a ballad of love and revenge, with her lingerie moments matched to vindictive lines, and later, her wedding (not to Jay-Z, mind you) touching on the positive outcome of her heart break.

It is, to say the least, quite the transition from her first single off the album, "(Girls) Run The World."
