Aamir Khan's Dhoom: 3 earns Rs 69.58 crore in two days

Aamir Khan-starrer big-budget action thriller Dhoom: 3 has collected Rs 69.58 crore -- which includes earnings from Tamil and Telugu versions -- in two days of its release, an official statement said.

Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the third instalment of Yash Raj Films' popular Dhoom franchise came out on Friday (December 20, 2013) and opened to mixed reviews. But it seems the box office collection is satisfactory.

On Friday, the well-packaged enrapturing drama clinched a total of Rs 36.22 crore at the box office, while on Saturday the earnings were recorded to be Rs 33.36 crore.

Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra, who have been constant in the cast since Dhoom, reprised their roles of cop and sidekick, respectively. Katrina Kaif added glamour to the film and the actress was seen in beautifully designed sequences.

Aamir Khan: Feel guilty for not spending enough time with family

Being Bollywood's 'Mr Perfectionist' comes with its own problems, as superstar Aamir Khan feels guilty for not being able to spend enough time with his family.

The meticulous star, who prepares extensively before taking up any project and thus ends up doing only one film a year, says he found it difficult to juggle shooting for Dhoom 3, Peekay, and doing research for his TV show Satyamev Jayate 2.

Aamir's son, Azad, turned a year-old recently. The actor said he would take his son along for shootings so that he could spend more time with him.

"I have always felt that I am not spending enough time with my children and family. I spent 25 years with this guilt.

The problem is that I get so lost in my work that I don't realise it. I feel guilty that I am so self-centred. But, I think I am a good father and a good husband," Aamir said.

The father-of-three said his youngest, Azad, born through surrogacy, has started going to play school now.

"We feel blessed to have Azad in our lives. His face lights up our life. Now he has started going to play school but earlier he would not let me leave for work and I would end up taking him on my shoots," he added.

Aamir, who is now gearing up for the release of Dhoom 3, said producer Aditya Chopra had to delay the film for a year as he wanted to prepare extensively.

"The physical training was really difficult. I had to have a lean but flexible body for my character of gymnast. I had only nine per cent of body fat while doing the film but got relaxed after I finished shooting.

Sridevi makes special appearance on Aamir's show

Aamir Khan brought up the issue of child sex abuse in the second episode of "Satyamev Jayate" Sunday. Yesteryears screen diva Sridevi made a special appearance on the show, her first appearance with Bollywood's Mr. Perfectionist. The 48-year-old came to meet Harish Aiyer, one of the victims of child abuse who told Aamir that he was abused by a man for 11 years. He also said that when he tried to tell his mother, she didn't take him seriously. At that time his only support was his dog and Bollywood movies, especially the ones starring Sridevi. And that is why the actress was invited on the show. Harish was excited when he received a gift from his favourite star. On the show, Aamir spoke to several other victims who narrated their horrific experiences of being molested, sodomised and threatened by their tormentors. Cinderella Prakash, another victim, said how she was abused by a 55-year-old man when she was just 12. According to a survey, 53 percent children who went through child sexual abuse were boys. Aamir concluded the show with Good Touch, Bad Touch workshop for children to teach them about the importance of understanding sexual abuse and recognising predators. The actor also appealed to people to press the government to pass the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Bill in parliament.
