  • CDC Activates High-Level Emergency Operation Center For Ebola Outbreak

The director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday he has activated the agency's emergency operation center at the highest response level to help respond to the worst Ebola outbreak in history.

In testimony at a special congressional hearing on Ebola, CDC Director Dr Thomas Frieden said the CDC has more than 200 staff members in Atlanta working on the outbreak, and will soon have more than 50 disease experts in West Africa to try to contain the outbreak.

Although Frieden said it is possible that people who have traveled to West Africa might bring the virus back home with them, and even spread it to some healthcare workers and family members, he said, he is "confident there will not be a large Ebola outbreak in the United States."

Frieden said it is not clear whether experimental treatments that were given to the two infected U.S. aid workers now in the United States who are being cared for at Emory University in Georgia will ultimately be effective, and he emphasized that the best approach to this threat is to contain it.

"In terms of the promising drugs, I can assure you that the U.S. government is looking into this very carefully," Frieden said. "But I don't want there to be false hope out there. Right now, we don't know if they work," he said.

Frieden said from what he has heard, there are only a handful of doses of the drugs given to the U.S. patients at the moment. And he said that the experiences of the two patients who got those drugs would not be sufficient to determine whether the treatment worked. Condemn Modi-Jaya article, will summon SL envoy: Sushma

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday condemned the "derogatory" article against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Sri Lankan Defence Ministry website.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj condemned the Sri Lankan article against Jayalalithaa. PTI

"India condemns the derogatory article published by Sri Lanka," said Swaraj, according to NDTV. Swaraj added that India "will summon Sri Lankan envoy."

Parliament was in turmoil on Monday over the article, with AIADMK members in both Houses disrupting the proceedings seeking a statement from the government.

Rajya Sabha witnessed two adjournments during Question Hour, while Lok Sabha saw an adjournment in Zero Hour and another adjournment after that after which the House will reconvene on 2 pm on Monday.
In Lower House, the issue was raised by AIADMK leader M Thambidurai who attacked the government for "not yet condemning" the article and to "make its stand clear" on the issue at a time when Tamil Nadu people were agitating over it.

While Jayalalithaa, who is also AIADMK supremo, has written several letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issues of harassment of Tamil fishermen by Sri Lankan Navy and Kachchatheevu island, the same had been referred in the "derogatory" article as "love letters", Thambidurai said.

As he spoke, AIADMK members trooped into the Well raising slogans like (Sri Lankan President) 'Rajapakse down, down', forcing Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to adjourn the House for about 25 minutes.

In the Rajya Sabha, AIADMK members also came into the Well shouting slogans, which made Chairman Hamid Ansari to observe that their behaviour was unbecoming of Members of Parliament.

Earlier, they had moved into the aisles displaying copies of the article on the Sri Lankan Defence Ministry website.

Mysterious Lake Appears In The Middle Of Tunisian Desert

Tunisian residents have a new beach to visit -- right in the middle of the desert.

Locals were astounded when a lake appeared recently in a drought-stricken area. They've since named the miraculous sight "Gafsa Beach" for its location within a region of the same name in southern Tunisia.

The mysterious body of water, which observers estimate covers an area of about 2.6 acres and measures more than 50 feet at its deepest points, seems to have emerged right from the Earth. While officials investigating how the lake formed still do not know the source of the water, the running theory is that a tremor fractured a layer of rock holding an underground reservoir, according to French-language reports. The groundwater would have then flowed through a crack in the rock and filled the canyon over a period of time.

After the lake was discovered earlier this month, Gafsa's public safety office warned visitors to avoid swimming in the waters, since officials had yet to confirm the safety of the mysterious body of water. Some speculated that the water could be harmful to humans or, possibly, carcinogenic since there is phosphate mining in the region.

However, that has not stopped locals from enjoying their newfound beach.

Gaza conflict: New exchanges amid Israeli soldier hunt

Palestinian officials said 55 people had died in Israeli strikes on Saturday, most in Rafah, where the soldier, Hadar Goldin, went missing.

A series of rocket attacks into Israel was reported on Saturday morning.

Later Israel sent messages to Palestinians in northern Gaza saying that they could return home.

"We have told Beit Lahia residents that they may return to their homes. We advised them to avoid explosives placed by Hamas across the area", the Israel Defence Forces tweeted.

Some 1,655 Palestinians, mostly civilians, and 65 Israelis, all but two soldiers, have died in the conflict.

A Thai worker was also killed in Israel. Some 8,900 Palestinians have also been injured, the health ministry in Gaza says.

A 72-hour ceasefire had been agreed, starting from Friday morning, but collapsed hours later.

Hamas accused Israel of breaking the ceasefire but the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had been forced to respond to militant rocket fire.

On Saturday, Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi insisted an Egyptian ceasefire plan offered a "real chance" to end the bloodshed.
    'Time is decisive'

Palestinian officials said that there had been a series of Israeli air strikes around Rafah since midnight, killing at least 35 people.

The BBC's Bethany Bell in Israel says there is an "enormous sense of solidarity" with soldiers on the front line as the hunt for Lt Goldin continues
    line

Even if the peace talks do finally get going in Cairo, they will be complicated by a host of conflicting sympathies and regional tensions. Egypt, the traditional mediator between the Israelis and Palestinians, is no longer on an equal footing with the warring parties.

Since the Muslim Brotherhood was overthrown and Mohammed Morsi deposed last year, the government of Abdul Fattah al-Sisi sees Hamas, an offshoot of the Brotherhood, as a terrorist organisation. Turkey and Qatar, the two regional negotiators, now have poor relations with Egypt due to their support for the Brotherhood.

The Turkish prime minister recently called President Sisi an "illegitimate tyrant" and three journalists from the Qatari-based TV channel Al-Jazeera remain in prison for what Cairo calls "aiding" the Islamists.

And of course the US and Israel refuse to talk directly to Hamas. Amidst this complex atmosphere full of animosity, it's unsurprising that there's little optimism here about a genuine breakthrough.

1 Dead, 20 Hospitalized For Apparent Drug Overdoses At Mad Decent Block Party

A man who attended an all-day music festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, has died from an apparent drug overdose, police said Saturday.

Howard County Police identified the deceased as 20-year-old Tyler Fox Viscardi of North Carolina. Viscardi and at least 20 others were hospitalized for possible overdoses and other drug-related effects after attending the Mad Decent Block Party Friday, The Baltimore Sun reports.

A 17-year-old male from Virginia, whose name has not been released, was among the concert-goers who were hospitalized. Officials say he is in critical condition.

Viscardi was transported to a local hospital around 9 p.m. Friday and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Though a drug overdose is suspected, officials have yet to confirm the cause of death. Authorities are reportedly working to determine what type of drugs were in his system.

Officials behind the record label -- launched by electronic music DJ and producer Diplo -- took to Twitter Saturday to address the incident.

Aside from the hospitalizations, police made three arrests at the venue for assault on a police officer, domestic assault and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Officers also issued 50 citations for underage drinking during the festival.

Unfortunately, substance abuse has become increasingly common at music festivals and concerts. In June, dozens of Avicii fans were hospitalized after a concert in Boston. Officials later revealed that the drug ecstasy played a major role in the hospitalizations.

Lana Del Rey Tells Complex She Has 'Slept With A Lot Of Guys In The Industry'

Lana Del Rey sat down with Complex magazine to talk about her new album, "Ultraviolence," artistic inspiration, guilty pleasures and criticism.

Also in the magazine's August/September issue, Del Rey talks relationships and men. When addressing her fairly self explanatory track "F-cked My Way Up to The Top," Del Rey says:

It's commentary, like, 'I know what you think of me,' and I'm alluding to that. You know, I have slept with a lot of guys in the industry, but none of them helped me get my record deals. Which is annoying.

What annoys Del Rey exactly is unclear. Is she annoyed that these men did not get her record deals in exchange for her intimacy? Is she annoyed that people think sex is how she got ahead in the industry, though none of her lovers gave her any breaks?
Elsewhere in the interview, she attempts to explain how she perceives the relationship between violence and love. "I like a physical love. I like a hands-on love," she says, before pausing: "How can I say this without getting into too much trouble? I like a tangible, passionate love. For me, if it isn't physical, I'm not interested."

These aren't the first controversial comments Del Rey, 29, has made since the release of "Ultraviolence" last month.

In an interview with The Guardian, Del Rey said "I wish I were dead already." To The New York Times a few days later, she said she's "scared to die, but I want to die." After her quotes spread like wildfire, Del Rey expressed her regret, tweeting that The Guardian's reporter's "leading questions about death and persona were calculated" and his ambitions, "sinister."

The Most Traffic-Congested Cities on the Planet

Go anywhere, in any parts of the world, traffic is a major problem faced in today’s era. Therefore, TomTom, a maker of navigation and GPS systems, gathers data from users around the world to create a traffic index that shows congestion in urban areas.

The index measures travel times throughout the day and during peak periods and compares them with non-congested periods. In this study, local roads, arterials and highways are taken into account. All data is based on actual GPS based measurements and for each city, the sample size is expressed in total number of measured kilometers for the period.

Here are the 7 cities in the world with the most congested traffic.

The Polish capital, Warsaw over the past few years has seen major infrastructural changes amidst increased foreign investment and economic growth.

The city has a much-improved infrastructure with new roads, flyovers and bridges. Public transport in Warsaw is ubiquitous, serving the city with buses, tramways, and metro.

Although many streets were widened, and new ones are built, the city is presently plagued with traffic problems and as such is listed as the 7th most traffic congested city.

Since the past 15 years, car ownership in this city has roughly doubled. It is in a way a reflection of the country's economic success. However, road-building programs have failed to keep pace. Today, for drivers in this city, the average commute time takes 44 percent longer compared to quiet times.

Beyonce And Jay Z Divorce Rumor Has Everyone Freaking Out

Sometimes the Internet can be a place of pure joy, filled with cuddly kittens and laughing babies. Other times, it's a place where Beyonce and Jay Z breakup rumors fester.

On Saturday, July 19, the New York Post's Page Six published a report that Beyonce and Jay Z may be on the verge of a split. The couple, who has allegedly been seeing marriage counselors, could reportedly call it quits after wrapping their On The Run tour.

“They are trying to figure out a way to split without divorcing ... This is a huge concert tour and they’ve already gotten most of the money from the promoters up front,” a supposed source told Page Six. Adding: “For just a split moment, things got real for them and she was even talking about adding to the family. But, after a while, Jay was out doing Jay and Bey was out doing Bey. They made the classic mistake of thinking a child would change everything and help to rekindle the initial fire, and it didn’t.”

Representatives for both stars were not immediately available for comment, but it doesn't take a publicist to see that these latest rumors are probably bogus.

Last year, E! News reported Beyonce was pregnant with her second child. The pregnancy rumor resurfaced in OK! Magazine in April. After Beyonce apparently removed her IV engagement tattoo, Life & Style magazine claimed Bey and Jay were heading for a "$1 billion divorce" on a May cover. In June, the gossip mill went into overdrive with cheating rumors after Beyonce changed the lyrics to "Resentment."

'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' Tops Box Office For Second-Straight Week

The summer box office continued to lack mojo, as the R-rated "Sex Tape" failed to turn on moviegoers over a weekend where "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" maintained its rule.

20th Century Fox's science fiction sequel outmuscled a trio of new films to top the North American box office for the second-straight week with $36 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. The acclaimed sequel to 2011's reboot of the chimp franchise has now made $139 million domestically in two weeks.

Its closest completion over the weekend was the home-invasion horror thriller "The Purge: Anarchy," written and directed by James DeMoncaco. Universal's low-budget sequel to last year's surprise hit, "The Purge," opened with $28.4 million, down from the $34.1 million the original scared up on opening weekend.

Nikki Rocco, head of distribution for Universal, though, noted the stronger competition this time around and the overall "depressed" business at movie theaters. Weekend revenue was down 24 percent from the same weekend last year, continuing a cold summer for Hollywood that's more than 20 percent off the pace of summer of 2013.

But "Anarchy," which imagines an America where all crime is legal for 12 hours every year, was made for only $9 million, making it immediately profitable for Universal. Such success is the envy of most movies, particularly Sony's "Sex Tape," a starrier, more expensive release made for about $40 million that opened with $15 million.

The Jason Segel, Cameron Diaz R-rated comedy failed to entice moviegoers or critics. "Sex Tape," in which a married couple makes a pornographic home video to stoke the flames of their lagging sex life, came in fourth place behind Disney's "Planes: Fire & Rescue." The animated sequel to 2013's "Cars"-offshoot, "Planes," opened with $18 million.

"It was kind of a middling weekend unless you were the top film," said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for box-office tracker Rentrak. Dergarabedian looks ahead optimistically to upcoming releases "Lucy," starring Scarlett Johansson, and the Marvel space film "Guardians of the Galaxy," of which he noted: "A lot of pressure is being put on that movie. It may be the last big summer blockbuster."

But as July turns to August, Hollywood's summer is certain to be a down one.

In a limited release of 68 theaters, Zach Braff's crowd-funded "Wish I Was Here" also arrived with a tiny weekend opening of $495,000 for Focus Features. The film, Braff's directorial follow-up to 2004's "Garden State," was much criticized for depending on fan contributions for funding. "Wish I Was Here" will expand to more theaters next week, but it will fall far short of the $26.8 million "Garden State" earned.

A chilling echo of Nazi death trains as HM17 victims begin the grimmest journey

The stench of death is thick in the air as onlookers peer inside a freight train containing the bodies of some 200 victims of the MH17 massacre.

The scene, a grim echo of the mechanised slaughter of millions in the Second World War, has been created by Russian separatists who have collected piles of corpses from the plane crash and put them in refrigerated rail carriages.

There was international outrage over the undignified scene last night – with swarms of flies buzzing around the train – although defiant local militia men insisted they were doing what they could for the dead.

The international investigators, who are wearing body armour, were allowed to photograph some of the victims who had been removed nine miles from the crash site

The international investigators, who are wearing body armour, were allowed to photograph some of the victims who had been removed nine miles from the crash site

The bodies had been lying spread out over fields for two days in the summer heat, before being removed from a large swathe of the crash site by yesterday.

Workers from local mines were bussed in to clear the corpses.Once the bodies had gone, only bloodstained military stretchers were left along the side of the road.

Controversy is now raging over not only the conditions in which the corpses are being kept, but also fears that vital evidence of exactly what caused the tragedy is being lost.

It risks becoming a gruesome tussle over the dead.

Ukrainian sources said they feared the piles of corpses might be moved to Russia or used as a bargaining tool by rebel leaders.

The bodies, each inside individual body bags, were last night still on the stationary train at Torez station nine miles from the crash site.

Ukrainian officials in the city of Kharkiv, about four hours’ drive away, said there had been an agreement with rebel leaders for the bodies to next be taken there so they could be visited by grieving families.

Moment black box recorder from flight MH17 is recovered

But there was last night no sign of that happening.

A spokesman for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, which is monitoring the operation, said rebels had told the team that 167 bodies were in the train, and added that the monitors had checked three of the refrigerator wagons.

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, meanwhile, told a news conference 192 bodies and eight fragments of bodies had been placed in the train.

But he said the local rebels had yet to give permission for the train to set off.

The rebels responded by suggesting the pro-Western Ukrainian government was delaying the train’s departure, and arguing they could do nothing until the arrival of the international experts pledged by several countries to help determine what and who caused the crash.

Manipuri man dies after being beaten inside his car in South Delhi

A PTI report says the man's name is Shaloni and that he was returning from a friend's place in Kotla Mubarakpur last night when a group of 5-6 men arrived at the spot by car and attacked him.

"We have registered a case and investigation has been taken up. He was attacked by 5-6 men. There was no provocation from the part of the deceased," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) BS Jaiswal said.

"We are trying to identify the attackers and the exact sequence of events," he said. Shaloni lived in Munirka area and was presently unemployed, adds the PTI report.

A 30-year-old Manipuri man who was working with a BPO, has been beaten to death in South Delhi's Kotla area. News reports have quoted the Delhi police as saying that the man was beaten by four goons inside his car.

A report on Times Now said that he had beaten up as he returned from work. The name of the victim is not yet known.

IBN-Live added that police believe the altercation had resulted after the victim picked an argument with the four men who had been in another car. The four then allegedly assaulted him.

The report adds that the victim had been taken to AIIMS, but he succumbed to injuries. The police are in the process of registering an FIR for murder. The body has been kept at AIIMS for the post-mortem.

This is the latest in a series of tragic incidents, involving Indian citizens from the Northeast.

In May, a girl from Nagaland who was studying to be a law student in Delhi University was molested by another lawyer at a metro station. When she went to court to in connection with the case along with three friends, they had been beaten up by a gang of lawyers. The mob had threatened her not to pursue the case any further.

In February this year, two Manipuri women were assaulted by men who hurled racist abuses at them in South Delhi's Kotla Mubarak area. According to the police, the women, identified as Tharmila Jajo and Chonmila, were beaten up by a group of men, who were in their late 20s.

The women in their complaint said that one of the assaulters had tied the leash of his dog to Chonmila's boots. She panicked and in a bid to get rid of the dog she started kicking the animal. Seeing this, the men started beating her up. When her friend Jajo tried to intervene, she too was allegedly thrashed by the men who also made racist comments against them, police said.

Before that in January, the capital had seen protests over the death of 19-year-old Nido Taniam, son of Arunchal Pradesh Congress MLA and Parliamentary Secretary in Health and Family Welfare Department Nido Pavitra.

30-Year-Old Man from Manipur Allegedly Beaten to Death in Delhi

An 30-year-old man from Manipur was allegedly beaten to death by a group of five or six men in the heart of Delhi late last night.

The police said Shaloni, who was employed at a Business Processing Outsourcing company or BPO, got into an altercation with the group of men who had driven up in a white car at a daily needs store in Kotla Mubarakpur.

They said they received a call about the quarrel at about 2:30 am. When the police reached the spot, they found Shaloni had been beaten up. They took the injured man to the trauma centre at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences or AIIMS, where he was declared dead.
The police said Shaloni lived in Kotla Mubarakpur. They said that a case of murder has been registered and that they have identified suspects.

The death in similar circumstances of Nido Tania, a student from Arunachal Pradesh, early this year had led to street protests and a national debate on discrimination against Indians from the North East.

Nido, 20, was beaten with iron rods and sticks by a group of men after he had an altercation with a shopkeeper and others in Lajpat Nagar market, not far from Kotla Mubarakpur, in January.

Politicians across parties had at the time condemned his death and vowed to work with activists and students from the North East to address their recurring concerns of being racially targeted in Delhi and other cities.

Saina Nehwal pulls out of Glasgow Commonwealth Games

Indian badminton star, Saina Nehwal pulls out of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. The defending champions is yet to recover from the blisters she had sustained during the Australian Open Super Series winning campaign.

The former world number 2 said that, "I haven`t got enough time to train, don`t want to risk an injury again. Have to be fit for the rest of the season."

In the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, she won the women`s singles title defeating Mew Wong of Malaysia in three sets. Two years later, in the London Games, she won the bronze medal.

Having won a hosts of titles in the international circuit, Nehwal is a medal hopeful for the Indian contingent at the 20th Commonwealth Games, which starts next week. Recently she won her seventh Super Series title in Sydney, defeating Spaniard Carolina Marin in straight sets.

In her absence, India will hope for a steller performance from her understudy PV Sindu and the doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa. The Indian women's team of Nehwal, PV Sindhu, Jwala and Ashwini won the bronze medal in the recent Uber Cup, losing 2-3 to Japan in the semi-finals at Siri Fort Sports Complex.

Zooey Deschanel: Not Every Woman Is 'Dying To Give Birth'

Lest the doe-eyes and vintage flair fool anyone, Zooey Deschanel has reminded us of one thing she is decidedly non-retro about.

In the July issue of InStyle, Deschanel tells writer Mike Albo that she's sick of the sexist double standard implicit in the "do you want kids" question:

'Like every woman is dying to give birth! I don’t think so. Nobody asks guys that,' she says, gaining steam. 'And you go into a supermarket and every tabloid is like, ‘Pregnant and Alone!’ Stuck in the 1950s ideal of how a woman should live her life. This brings out the fiery feminist in me,' she pronounces.

Deschanel's words ring true in a culture that tends to view childfree women of a certain age as sad victims of circumstance rather than individuals making a valid choice. But the 34-year-old "New Girl" star is in pretty good company: Cameron Diaz explained her childfree status to Esquire earlier this month, saying "I'm just what I am. I work on what I am. Right now, I think, things are good for me. I've done a lot."

Given all the perks of being childfree, it's confusing why anyone expects women to become pregnant before they are certain they'd like to birth a new human and raise it for 18 years. Comments like Deschanel's chip away at the antiquated notion that women are in a race to procreate.

With a hit television series, capsule collection for Tommy Hilfiger, an upcoming album, a successful website and three upcoming films, we'd say there's no room on Deschanel's plate for baby food. Perhaps, one fine day, people will stop asking when there might be.

'Stop The Beauty Madness' Brands Ads With Brutally Honest Messages

It's a psychological itch that the most enlightened, successful and even beautiful women still tend to scratch: if I look better, I am better.

Now one campaign is trying to convince others to break free from that line of thought. The Stop The Beauty Madness campaign wants you to "feel like you've been socked in the gut" when you see its jarringly frank ads, says its founder Robin Rice.

Stop The Beauty Madness is a series of 25 advertisements branded with honest messages that highlight the true "madness" involved in creating and meeting beauty standards. Rice, an author and the founder of Be Who You Are Productions, started the campaign to challenge an internalized belief that a woman's beauty determines her value.

Rather than attempt to fit more diverse types of women into an already narrow definition of beauty, Stop The Beauty Madness questions the value we place on beauty in the first place. "My main mission is to say if women are worried about their weight and their looks to the point that they're not actually putting themselves in the world, then we're missing out on some really extraordinary individuals and some really important conversations we need to be having," Rice told HuffPost. "Women need to be helping the world move in a more beautiful direction -- a genuinely beautiful direction."
Beauty, Rice reminds us, can be both meticulously arranged or totally accidental. And yet, we privilege "effortless" beauty free of the true effort (and anguish) often required to achieve it, while criticizing those who happen to be very thin for succumbing to beauty standards. "Even if you fit the mold, you get in trouble for fitting the mold," Rice said. "You can't win."

his double-edged sword is why Stop The Beauty Madness takes a broad approach, addressing all elements of a woman's appearance from race, to age, to weight, to several at once. "Naturally thin women, or women who choose to work out and have really buff bodies, or elderly women, are not excluded from this conversation. They get their own backlash," Rice said.

The campaign intentionally uses stock photos, the type of images used to illustrate many glossy magazine articles. "We wanted to use what was out there," Rice told HuffPost. "There's not lot of stock photos of African-American women compared to white women. There's not a lot of edgy photographs of women. There were countless pictures of women on scales trying to lose weight. That shapes our conversation," she said.

Britney Spears' 'Alien' Without Auto-Tune Is Not Meant To Be Heard

This might not be the first time we've heard a Britney Spears track without any Auto-Tune enhancement, but it doesn't mean it makes us cringe any less this time around.

On July 2, the unedited vocal version of Spears' track "Alien," off of her most recent album, "Britney Jean," leaked. As the video picked up steam, track producer William Orbit posted a statement Monday, July 7, explaining that the track is a vocal warm-up session, not Spears' final take.

"I'd like to affirm that ANY singer when first at the mic at the start of a long session can make a multitude of vocalisations in order to get warmed up," Orbit wrote. "Warming up is essential if you’re a pro, as it is with a runner doing stretches, and it takes a while to do properly. I’ve heard all manner of sounds emitted during warm-ups. The point is that it is not supposed to be shared with millions of listeners.

"A generous singer will put something down the mic to help the engineer get their systems warmed up and at the right level, maybe whilst having a cup of herb tea and checking through lyrics before the session really kicks off. It’s not expected to be a ‘take.'"

Listen to the track below, and decide for yourself whether this is a warm-up or the real deal.

Immigration Rallies Wait For Buses Of Immigrants In Murrieta

Rumors had swirled among anti-immigration activists near a U.S. Border Patrol station in Southern California that the agency would try again to bus in some of the immigrants who have flooded across the U.S.-Mexico border.

Instead, they got dueling anti- and pro-immigration rallies Friday.

The crowd of 200 outside the station in Murrieta waved signs and sometimes shouted at each other. One banner read: "Proud LEGAL American. It doesn't work any other way." Another countered: "Against illegal immigration? Great! Go back to Europe!"

Law enforcement officers separated the two sides and contained them on one approach to the station, leaving open an approach from the opposite direction.

It was not certain, however, that any buses would arrive on Friday. Because of security concerns, federal authorities have said they will not publicize immigrant transfers among border patrol facilities. By late afternoon many demonstrators were leaving.

Six people were arrested, five for interfering with police who were investigating a fight and one for disorderly conduct, police said. One of the five was a woman who jumped on an officer's back, but police did not give details on the actions of the rest.

Earlier this week, the city became the latest flashpoint in the intensifying immigration debate when a crowd of protesters waving American flags blocked buses carrying women and children who were flown from overwhelmed Texas facilities.

Federal authorities had hoped to process them at the station in Murrieta, about 55 miles north of downtown San Diego.

"This is a way of making our voices heard," said Steve Prime, a resident of nearby Lake Elsinore. "The government's main job is to secure our borders and protect us — and they're doing neither."

Immigration supporters said the immigrants need to be treated as humans and that migrating to survive is not a crime.

"We're celebrating the 4th of July and what a melting pot America is," said Raquel Alvarado, a high school history teacher and Murrieta resident who chalked up the fear of migrants in the city of roughly 106,000 to discrimination.

Kate Upton Lies Topless In Bed For Steamy Instagram Photo

Kate Upton shared a gorgeous photo via Instagram on Monday, June 30. "In bed with ," wrote the 22-year-old, who was wrapped in nothing but a white sheet:

Given that Upton tagged fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in the caption of her bedroom photo, it's safe to say the snapshot is part of a photoshoot and not simply a candid of Upton rolling out of bed. Still, we wouldn't be surprised if the model woke up like this.

North West Verbally Attacked By Racist Woman On Plane

After what turned out to be "the trip from hell" to Vienna, Austria, the Kardashians didn't have an easier time on their first class flight home to Los Angeles, Kim revealed during the latest episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" on June 29.

After being accosted by a man in full blackface mimicking Kanye West at the Vienna Ball, Kim revealed that on their flight home a woman started screaming at her daughter North.

"Mom had the baby, I fell asleep, I woke up to this woman screaming, 'Kanye West’s baby!' The woman is screaming at my child, I jump up," she recounted, before her sister Khloe interjected: "I would’ve punched her in her face."

"No, we were on a plane. I wanted to," Kim replied. "It was crazy."

"This lady stood up in the cabin in first class and yelled at the top of her lungs, 'She’s with a black guy, and that baby is black! And you need to shut that black baby up!'" Kris told Khloe.

Always the one with the answers, Khloe told her mother and sister, "I would say, 'Hashtag, fact my baby is black. Hashtag, I only like black c**k!' That’s what I would say!"

Kim went on to say that the woman then started talking about her sex tape with former boyfriend Ray J, shouting, "'And she has a sex video with a black guy. How disgusting, with a black guy.' Like going on and on."

According to Kim, the pilot had to come out and told the woman they were going to call the LAPD as soon as they landed, before the woman's husband apparently sat on her and told her to "shut up."

"It was the trip from hell. It was so racist," Kim said.

We're slightly confused as to how we're only hearing about this incident now, but then again, the show also made it seem like Kim immediately penned a blog post in response to what happened at the Vienna Ball. While the 33-year-old did in fact write a blog post about her experiences with racism, she didn't post it until a full three months after the incidents in Vienna and on the plane occurred.

'Boyhood,' Wes Anderson & Laura Dern, AKA We're Already Talking About The 2015 Oscars

Welcome to For Your Consideration, The Huffington Post's unapologetically obsessive conversation about the Oscar race. Ahead, managing entertainment editor Christopher Rosen and entertainment editor Matthew Jacobs look at the year thus far.

Rosen: Here we are, Matt, at the year's mid point. What a six months it has been! Who could forget Jason Bateman's sparkling usage of browns and other browns in "Bad Words"? Or Johnny Depp sleepwalking through "Transcendence"? What about that remake of "RoboCop" with that guy from "The Killing"? Oscar contenders all! I look forward to seeing the For Your Consideration ads on the sidebars of Variety articles.

That's the Clickhole version of the awards landscape thus far. The reality is that no film released during the first six months of 2013 scored an Oscar nomination in the top six categories (Picture, Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Director). In fact, last summer as a whole was only represented in those categories by two nominees: "Blue Jasmine" stars Cate Blanchett and Sally Hawkins. How does that translate to this year?

Well, not too well: Of 2014 releases to date with legitimate awards aspirations, only Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel" feels like a true contender. But even that film has blemishes and obstacles in its path. "Grand Budapest" was unexpectedly tragic in a way that Anderson hasn't strived for in quite some time, but it still paled in comparison to the rest of his CV, and none of those films really made major impacts with Oscar voters. Other great movies such as "Edge of Tomorrow," "Obvious Child," "Neighbors" and "The Fault in Our Stars" all feel too slight to make it through the forthcoming awards gauntlet. We're at the point where it might be time to put all of our eggs in fall's basket and hope that 2014's remaining features are half as good as last year's incredible crop.

But where would the fun in that be? That's why we're writing this, after all: to push forth some crackpot theories about why Laura Dern should be an Oscar contender for "The Fault in Our Stars" and why "Obvious Child" writer-director Gillian Robespierre needs to be in the conversation for screenplay honors. Or am I just a fool who should focus his energy on real contenders like "Boyhood," aka the best movie of 2014 that hasn't been released? What do you think?

Jacobs: It's sad when a midyear checkup only serves to recall the malaise that's preceded us as far as stellar movies are concerned. I'm battling a constant struggle to forget almost anything with Johnny Depp or Jason Bateman the instant the credits roll, so allow me to ask what this "Transcendence" you speak of is.

It's true, though: Outside of superhero fare, these months have been rather revolting. Where's our "Midnight in Paris"? Our "Fargo"? Our "Silence of the Lambs"? Everyone is terrified of being forgotten. I'm surprised names like Darren Aronofsky, Clint Eastwood and Jim Jarmush are featured on the marquee at all during the early months. I do agree that Wes Anderson has given us what is surely the only legitimate contender so far, although I'll challenge your notion that "The Grand Budapest Hotel" pales. Months later, I'm still positioning my feelings on the film, but I might call it Anderson's best work yet. His name will rightfully reappear in screenplay considerations during the lead-up to January's nominations.

I'll see your Laura Dern (phenomenal) and Gillian Robespierre (refreshing), and I'll raise you an Uma Thurman for her electrifying turn in the otherwise dismissible "Nymphomaniac: Volume 1." Much like Viola Davis in "Doubt" and Beatrice Straight in "Network," Thurman appears briefly in the movie but steals the two-hour ordeal right out from Lars von Trier's prurient feet. Whether a von Trier performer -- save Emily Watson in "Breaking the Waves" -- can ever again catch the gleam in Oscar voters' eyes begs another conversation, but if there's one performance that deserves recognition so far this year it's hers.

Miley Cyrus' Bangerz Tour Gets NBC Special

Prepare for Miley Cyrus to invade your living room: NBC announced the pop star’s "Bangerz" tour will be featured in a two-hour special to air on July 6th.

Cyrus relayed the good news on Facebook yesterday. "Smilers! NBC is bringing #BANGERZTour straight to your living room!," she wrote. "Catch the 2-hour behind the scenes concert special on July 6 at 9pm/8pm CT!"

Stocked with behind-the-scenes footage and performances from her upcoming shows in Spain and Portgual, Cyrus’ NBC special should be an interesting test in network editing. The "Bangerz" tour has been a notoriously risqué affair, with the singer's raunchy performance including the riding of an inflatable penis.

Music programming remains a hot commodity for TV networks: HBO recently announced a 10-part miniseries featuring highlights from Beyoncé’s Mrs. Carter World Tour. Dubbed "Beyoncé: X10," a series of four-minute concert segments from the tour with air every Sunday evening ahead of the final season of True Blood.

Cyrus stayed busy while on the road for her "Bangerz" tour. After performing together onstage in Los Angeles, Cyrus and the Flaming Lips hit the studio to record what Lips’ frontman Wayne Coyne calls "completely weird" versions of the Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" and "A Day in the Life."

The "We Can't Stop" singer says she hopes to write music with the Lips for her next album. "On my last record, everything we did was with computers," she told Rolling Stone. "But they're real musicians – they can change keys on a whim. I've never seen anything like it. They've had me on this journey that's greater than anything I've been on. It's really deep."

Zendaya No Longer Playing Aaliyah In Lifetime Biopic

Zendaya will no longer play Aaliyah in the Lifetime biopic about the late R&B singer. The 17-year-old Disney star backed out of the project and a rep confirmed that she is "no longer involved" with the film.

Zendaya was cast only two weeks ago and filming was scheduled to start this summer, with a fall release date. She was originally set to record four of Aaliyah's songs for the film. The biopic is tentatively titled "Aaliyah: Princess of R&B," and is set to trace Aaliyah's career from her debut on "Star Search" to her tragic death in 2001. She was killed in a plane crash at age 22.

The network's PR department released a statement on Twitter and said that production is "on hold."

The late singer's family has been vocal about their opposition to the biopic and said that they would make it hard for Lifetime to use recordings. "Because we control the masters, the rights and some images of the musical elements that we put together like the videos, and photo shoots and things that we did, what we can just withhold those elements from the production which we would do," Aaliyah's cousin Jomo Hankerson told The Wrap. But he was clear that they didn't have a problem with Zendaya's casting, just the idea of a made-for-TV movie. “This needs A-list actors, A-list talent that can breathe life into what we think is a phenomenal story," Hankerson told the New York Daily News.

Rick Ross Arrested After Concert In North Carolina

Rapper Rick Ross has been released after his arrest following a North Carolina concert.
Greensboro Police Department spokeswoman Susan Danielsen says that Ross was taken into custody Friday night after the SuperJam concert. She says a court had issued an order for his arrest because he failed to appear in court on a previous misdemeanor marijuana charge.

The rapper, whose real name is William L. Roberts, was taken into custody after his performance. Danielsen says he was released on $1,000 bond.

Messages seeking comment weren't immediately returned by a spokesman for Universal Music Group or executives at a booking agency that works with Ross.

The hip hop artist and MC was detained by police and taken into custody after his performance at the Super Jam concert.

According to police, he was arrested for failure to appear in court for a previous misdemeanor drug possession charge. He was released on $1000 bond shortly after his arrest.

Rick Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, reportedly took his stage name from infamous – now reformed – Los Angeles cocaine kingpin 'Freeway' Rick Ross, who later sued the rapper for using the name, however the suit was dismissed by the presiding judge.

Serena shocker puts Sharapova in pole position

Maria Sharapova has warned her Wimbledon title rivals she is peaking just in time to take advantage of Serena Williams' stunning exit.

Sharapova, who has yet to drop a set after routing Alison Riske 6-3, 6-0 in the third round, heads into the second week as the newly-installed favourite following Alize Cornet's shock 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over world number one Williams on Saturday.

Serena's defeat is a huge boost for French Open champion Sharapova, who had been scheduled to meet the American top seed in the quarter-finals.

That would have been a major obstacle to Sharapova's hopes of winning Wimbledon for the second time as she had lost her previous 15 meetings with Serena.

But with Williams vanquished by Cornet's brilliant display on Court One, fifth seed Sharapova now has a golden opportunity to lift the Venus Rosewater dish for the first time since 2004, when she famously shocked Serena in the final as a 17-year-old.

The Russian will face German ninth seed Angelique Kerber on Monday for a place in the quarter-finals and she struck an ominous note for her rivals by admitting she is hitting top form at just the right moment.

"I'm pleased that I've gone three good matches in. I feel like I improved with every match," Sharapova said.

"I started the first match a little nervous, which was expected. Once I got through that, I feel like I've elevated my game.

"I feel like I'm serving better. I didn't face a break point after the first game. Like I said, it's really the footwork, little things, imposing yourself out there."

It is the first time since 2006 that neither Serena nor sister Venus, beaten by Petra Kvitova on Friday, will be in the Wimbledon fourth round and with the draw also blown wide open with second seed Li Na's defeat on Friday, Sharapova could be forgiven for feeling a sense of deja vu.

Families of Indians stranded in Iraq to meet External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj again

Family members of Indians stranded in war-ravaged Iraq have said they will be leaving for the capital New Delhi on Sunday to meet with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

Speaking to ANI, Gurpinder Kaur, the sister of Manjinder Singh, one of the Indians abducted by Iraqi rebels, said, "We are going to meet the External Affairs Minister. We have not got any information (about our relatives) as yet. We will plead with her to bring back my brother who is stranded in Iraq. This is the second time we are going to meet the External Affairs Minister." She added, "If we do not get a satisfactory response, then, we will sit on protest at Jantar Mantar."

Referring specifically to the  Indian government's special envoy to Iraq and former envoy to that country Suresh Reddy, Gurpinder asked, " If Suresh Reddy is not getting any success in his mission, then why are they (the Indian Government) not sending someone else?"

The father of another reported Indian abductee said, " I am going there again. I will plead with them to bring my son back. I think there must be an opportunity in India so that youths do not have to go to work abroad? We want our son back, or else, we will sit on protest at Jantar Mantar." The mother said, " We are going to meet the External Affairs Minister. We are going to meet and try to get information from the minister. We want our son back. We want to know about my son's well being."

On Saturday, it was confirmed that Sushma Swaraj would be meeting again with the family members of stranded Indian workers in Iraq on Sunday afternoon or Monday morning.

The families of stranded Indians have said that they far from satisfied with the progress being made by the Indian government in finding their children in Iraq.

Manjinder Singh is among the 40 Punjabi boys abuducted by Iraqi rebels.

Gurpinder Kaur said that a Punjab Government official had called her to say that the meeting with Swaraj had been fixed for 3.00 pm on Sunday. She said, "After meeting the minister, we will decide about the "dharna" at the "Jantar Mantar".

Hira Lal, the brother of Sonu of Chamunda Devi village, said , " After June 15, they have not received any call from Sonu". He said they are praying for the safe return of all Indians and hoping that the government would escalate their efforts to bring back their children safe and sound.

Once a Militant Stronghold in Iraq, Now a Battleground Again

At one house, Iraq’s national flag fluttered atop a building that Iraqi soldiers had captured from militants two days before.

At another, smashed household goods and furniture were scattered on the floor.

Outside a third, hosting a meeting of Iraqi security force commanders, a captain from Iraq’s national intelligence service pointed to the far side of a murky irrigation canal.

“Here it is safe now,” he said of Al-Daira. “But over there are more terrorists. That is where we will fight them next.”

The village of Al-Daira lies about 30 miles south of Baghdad and within sight of Iraq’s main highway, in an area the American military called the Triangle of Death.

A former militant stronghold, the area is a battleground again. The Qaeda splinter group now known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, has resumed a campaign that its predecessors started — and had appeared to lose — before the United States withdrew its troops in 2011.

The group’s tactics — a hybrid guerrilla-and-terrorist campaign of ambushes, bombings and sniper and mortar attacks, organized by fighters who blend among civilians — show that the militants are much more than a juggernaut, as lately portrayed. They are adaptive and alert to the lessons of Iraq’s insurgent past, and select different tactics for different places and situations.

While establishing themselves in Anbar, in the west, they methodically resumed the campaign south of Baghdad started by Al Qaeda in Iraq, the Sunni militant group that formed after the American invasion and swore allegiance to Osama bin Laden.

Pune will get once a day Water supply from Tomorrow

To deal with water shortage in the city, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced water cuts for Pune. Starting Saturday, Pune will be getting water supply only once a day.

The city will face 12 per cent water cut from Saturday as the level of water in the four dams which provides water to the city is pretty low. Moreover, there has been no rainfall in the catchment near the dams.

The announcement was made by Pune mayor Chanchala Kodre on Thursday. She said, "The city gets 1,250 MLD water, but since there is a water shortage, we will be getting only 1,100 MLD water from the irrigation department from Saturday. Considering the acute shortage of water and with no rain, we have decided to supply water only once a day instead of twice a day for the city."
On Wednesday, the civic administration had held a meeting with irrigation department officials to take a review of the water situation in Khadakwasala, Temghar, Warasgaon and Panshet dams. The announcement of water cut was
made after party leaders in PMC held a meeting on Thursday.

Kodre said, "At present, 1.93 TMC water is available for the city compared to 5 TMC water that was there around this time last year. Since there is no rain, there will be 12 per cent water cut in the city. Considering the present water level and the imposed cut, the available water will fulfill the need of the city till August 15."
Pune city is divided in 76 wards. Out of these, 34 wards get water twice a day.
But now, all these wards will also be getting water only once a day from Saturday. The areas which get water from Parvati, Warje, Wadgaon pumping stations will face 20 per cent water cut.

The PMC administration is keeping a close eye on the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for their forecast regarding rain. "IMD experts have predicted that there is a possibility of good rains from second week of July and till that time we will be taking a review of the water situation," Kodre said.

The administration has claimed that it will be taking help of women self-help groups and school students to create awareness about water conservation. The civic administration has also made it clear that they will be keeping an eye on the private contractors who supply water to various areas by tankers.

Only films with ‘good story’ appeal to me, says Kareena

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor says in the past she has done a lot of films for the sake of friendship, but now, only a film with a “good story” will appeal to her.

“I have done a lot of films for friends. Now I want to do films for story. I don’t regret having done films for friends and for me it’s never a mistake. I am like that — I always think from the heart, so it’s fine,” Kareena said.

The actress, who has been part of commercial films like “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham....”, “3 Idiots”, “Bodyguard” and “RA.One”, has also done offbeat roles in films like “Chameli” and “Talaash”.

“I did ‘Chameli’ and ‘Dev’ because I needed to balance myself. I come from a family where I needed to prove myself. I was 21 when I played a sex worker in ‘Chameli’ and I played it again in ‘Talaash’...both have been great films of my career,” she added.

Now that Kareena is to be seen in a commercial film such as “Singham Returns”, is she open to the idea of taking up an offbeat movie at this point of time in her career? “I will but I won’t do it just for the sake of it. I did ‘Dev’, ‘Chameli’ and ‘Omkara’ when I was the most successful commercial actress. At this stage, I will not do a film just for the heck of it, because I have done that,” Kareena said. “I don’t have to prove anything now. The script has to be good.”

Anne Hathaway Dons Wig While Shooting Upcoming Film 'The Intern'

The Academy Award-winning actress, who has sported a notable pixie cut since her turn as Fantine in the 2012 movie-musical "Les Miserables," was seen donning a shoulder-length wig on Tuesday, June 24, while filming a scene for her upcoming role in "The Intern."

The 31-year-old kept it classy in a black and white ensemble, as she knelt to talk to her adorable onscreen daughter.

The film is the latest from "It's Complicated" director Nancy Meyers, and stars Hathaway as a fashion professional who hires an older gentleman, played by Robert De Niro, to work as her intern. Hathaway was cast in the role after scheduling conflicts forced Reese Witherspoon to drop out earlier this year.

Hathaway was last seen with her short 'do while leaving her home in Brooklyn on June 18:

Ben Savage Looks Back On Cory's First Kiss With Topanga

When Topanga Lawrence kissed Cory Matthews in the fourth episode of "Boy Meets World," it was a huge moment for both characters: their first kiss. Ben Savage, who played Matthews on the iconic '90s sitcom, joined HuffPost Live to reminisce about that smooch.

When asked by host Caitlyn Becker if that kiss was his first, on- or off-set, Savaged hedged.

"When you're little, I think people forget that you have little pecks with girls," he explained. "I'll say this, it was my first official kiss on a TV show in front of millions of people."

The actor added that he was nervous during that scene. "On our show, we tape it in front of a live audience and there's hundreds of people watching. So it's a lot of pressure for a little kid. It's still a lot of pressure."

Pressed by Becker to discuss his first kiss, Savage admitted, "I'm sure it was my first official kiss, I guess. I don't remember--it's been a long time."

He also discussed his return to TV. Savage will reprise the role of Cory Matthews on the "Boy Meets World's" new sequel "Girl Meets World."

'The Walking Dead': Norman Reedus promises a 'badass' season 5

The Walking Dead is well into filming on season 5 of the apocalyptic zombie drama, so we figured it was time to check in and see how things were going down on the Georgia set. We dialed up our main man Norman Reedus to get a feel for the vibe down there, and Reedus is definitely pumped about what has transpired so far. “These scripts are the best scripts so far, and I’m really just excited to be back at it,” says the man who plays Daryl Dixon. “There are a lot of characters right now, so there are a lot of really different personalities on set. And it’s super interesting, everyone’s really bringing it. It’s going great. It’s so dynamic because it’s so fast-paced and so complicated. It’s great to be back.”

We asked Reedus about the reemergence of kick-ass-and-take-names Rick Grimes (after a prolonged visit from Super Duper Mopey Rick Grimes) and Reedus says that new attitude extends well beyond the former sheriff’s deputy. “Everybody on the whole team is so badass right now,” says Reedus. “It’s interesting, because a lot of personalities are clashing, or characters’ personalities are clashing. But yeah, we definitely have Rick back.”

Characters clashing? Who could that be? Lovers quarrel between Glenn and Maggie? Mullet quarrel between Abraham and Eugene? You-killed-my-girlfriend-and-then-burned-her-dead-body quarrel between Tyreese and Carol? We’ll have to wait to find out. But one thing we do know is that the show is actually enjoying a rare form of much-needed stability at the top spot, with Scott M. Gimple now enjoying his second full season as showrunner (after taking over for Glen Mazzara who took over for Frank Darabont). “Yeah, it’s great,” says Reedus of Gimple’s return. “Scott, he’s so good at his job, and he’s such a great storyteller and such a good writer. He has this thing planned out to the end, I think. He’s definitely very qualified for the job. I never felt like we weren’t stable, though. I feel like we’re as stable as we ever were, just we have the confidence that we have this team back. It’s such a well-oiled machine right now. It’s great, and everyone feels super confident.”

Selena Gomez Is 'Brave' In A Teeny Orange Bikini

Selena Gomez posted a photo to her Instagram account June 23 along with the caption "soy valiente," which is Spanish for "I'm brave." Here, the act of bravery appears to be Selena taking a selfie in a teeny orange bikini top, long french braids and a pair of circular sunnies:

The 21-year-old has a tendency to upload cute bikini photos juxtaposed with perplexing, introspective captions. Just last month, Gomez shared a photo of herself in yet another orange bikini, writing, "Taking my power back... can't wait to show you where I've been. I love y'all."

If bikini selfies make celebrities brave, somebody hand Miley Cyrus a badge of courage.

Lana Del Rey Responds To Frances Bean Cobain's Admonishment

Lana Del Rey just got a master class in what happens when you make untoward comments in a public light. After the singer cited Kurt Cobain as an idol in the same breath during which she said, "I wish I was dead already," Frances Bean Cobain -- daughter of the late Nirvana frontman -- took to Twitter to urge Del Rey to "embrace life." Cobain unleashed a series of tweets over the weekend encouraging Del Rey to not "romanticize" the death of young musicians. The "Ultraviolence" singer's fans quickly harangued Cobain.

On Monday, Del Rey jumped into the conversation with Cobain on Twitter, putting what we hope is an end to the back-and-forth that's come from Del Rey's controversial interview with The Guardian

Preity-Ness case: Actress likely to record statement today

Preity Zinta, who returned to India from the US on Sunday, is likely to record her statement in the Ness Wadia case.

The actress had filed a complaint with the Mumbai police on June 13 against her former boyfriend and industrialist Ness Wadia for public humiliation and abusive behaviour during an Indian Premiere League (IPL) match in Wankhede stadium on May 30. The match was between Chennai Super Kings and Kings X1 Punjab.

IPL COO Sundar Raman, had confirmed Preity’s allegations in a written statement to the Mumbai Police. Another eyewitness, Nimish, too confirmed to Preity’s allegation while talking to Zee News.

On being questioned, Nimish revealed that the altercation did not take place during the match. He further added that there was very less interaction between Preity and Ness; and the row had erupted over the seats. EastEnders badboy Danny Dyer caught cheating again this time with student, 21

Swaggering EastEnders star Danny Dyer was pictured naked by a starstruck 21-year-old while he spent the night with her behind his loyal partner's back.

The bad boy actor, who plays Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter, homed in on the young brunette at a club and they went back to her bedroom.

The pair swapped numbers after their night together a month ago and the student hoped Dyer, 36, would contact her again – but he never did.

She showed the mobile pictures to a pal and they have since been shown to the Sunday Mirror.

Dyer has previously admitted to betraying girlfriend Joanne Mas – the mother of his three children – but recently described her as his "f****** rock".

Just weeks before his night with the student, he was pictured at Joanne’s side at the premiere of new film The Hooligan Factory.

They have been together 19 years.

But all that was forgotten as Dyer spotted the student on a night out with pals last month.

A friend close to the girl – who did not want to be named – said: "Danny clearly fancied her.

"Of course she recognised him straight away too.

"And you don't expect to see somebody who has been in so many films and on TV in your local nightclub.

"He got chatting to her and was very flirty – and she was pretty flattered that someone famous was showing an interest.

"She certainly fancied him too, and found him very charming and likeable.

"She wasn't sure whether he had a partner when they started talking, but the conversation flowed really easily between them both and kept on almost all night.

"They had a few drinks and when it got late they decided to leave together.

"She was a bit embarrassed afterwards, and told her friends that he had gone back with her.

"It really isn't the sort of thing that she would normally do, and she certainly wouldn't have taken pictures with a man, but was a bit starstruck and carried away in the moment.

"She couldn't believe she ended up in bed with someone like Danny Dyer as he could have had the pick of anyone.

"But she was disappointed at not hearing from him afterwards.

"She couldn't help sharing what had happened with me and other close friends.

"Some didn't believe her until she showed them the pictures.

"At the time she had no idea Danny was in a relationship but now she knows he is she realises it will be never anything other than a one night stand."

Ronaldo, Varela make last minute magic to keep Portugal's World Cup alive

A superb header by Silvestre Varela deep into extra time saved world player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal from crashing out of the World Cup finals on Sunday as it secured a 2-2 draw with the United States.

The Americans had looked to be safely into the last 16 after second-half goals by Jermaine Jones and Clint Dempsey saw them come back from 1-0 down -- a goal by Nani -- to gallop into the lead.

However, with only seconds remaining, one sublime cross from a pretty anonymous Ronaldo was met by Varela and it soared past Tim Howard to give Portugal a lifeline as a further defeat after thire 4-0 hammering by Germany in the opening game would have seen them out.

The United States -- who reached the last 16 in 2010 only to lose to Ghana -- are on four points along with Germany, who they play in their final group game, and who their coach Jurgen Klinsmann led at the 2006 finals.

Klinsmann, who was also within seconds of being the first coach to guide the USA to two successive wins at a finals since 1930, was phlegmatic about the dramatic dashing of their hopes.

"Obviously the last second is unfortunate but my guys were magnificent," said Klinsmann, who won the 1990 World Cup as a player.

"We just have to get a result against Germany. Obviously the Germans have a day more to recover and we have had further to travel for our game but then the big guys are the ones that get the favourite treatment.

"My guys went to the limit but now they have to pick themselves up and despite this result we will go into the game with a lot of confidence."

The Portuguese got just the start they needed to settle their nerves as a terrible defensive error by Stoke City's Geoff Cameron -- the ball flying off his boot to Nani -- saw the Manchester United winger wait for Howard to commit himself before rifling the ball into the net.

It had been preempted by an outrageous piece of skill by Ronaldo down the left side, completely bewitching three American players as they tried to corral him out on the touchline, only for a series of step overs and a backheel to see him squirm through the three of them.

Conditions even in the evening were so draining that five minutes from the break, when Jermaine Jones received some treatment, the referee allowed both sides to rehydrate with a drinks break.

Howard, who was earning his 102nd cap, kept his side in the game on the stroke of half-time as he somehow managed to stick a hand out as he dived the wrong way to tip a pointblank shot by Eder over the bar.
