Miley Cyrus Flag Twerking Incident Prompts Mexico To Seek Penalty

A Mexican state legislature has asked the country's federal government to fine singer Miley Cyrus after one of her dancers spanked Cyrus's backside with a Mexican flag as she "twerked" during an independence day performance.

Cyrus, 21, who has grabbed headlines for her admitted drug use, sexually suggestive dancing and wearing as little as a pair of boots in a music video, was performing in Monterrey in the northern state of Nuevo Leon.
Local lawmaker Francisco Trevino said that the Nuevo Leon state legislature had approved a warrant for the Interior Ministry to enforce the law on use of the flag.

She or her team could be fined up to the equivalent of around $1,200 or be detained for 36 hours, Trevino said.

Mexican authorities are often sensitive toward signs of disrespect for national symbols. In 2008, singer Paulina Rubio was fined for posing without clothes but wrapped in the country's flag. (Reporting by Gabriela Lopez; Writing by Christine Murray; Editing by Ken Wills)

Miley Cyrus Says She Still Loves Former Fiance Liam Hemsworth

Is Miley Cyrus really over Liam Hemsworth? Sure doesn't sound like it.

In an interview on Australia's "Sunday Night," Cyrus told reporter Chris Bath that she still has a lot of love for her former fiance.

"I love Liam, Liam loves me," Cyrus said, according to Daily Mail.

Following Cyrus' split from "Hunger Games" actor Hemsworth, Cyrus' father, Billy Ray, opened up about how happy his daughter seemed.
"All I know for sure is I heard my daughter say today she's the happiest she's ever been in her life immediately following [the breakup.] That's when I saw Miley being so happy," Billy Ray said in 2013. "Somewhere along the stress and strain of different things I didn't see her smiling as often for a little while and all of a sudden she's like the sun, and when she smiles it's light."

Here's to hoping Cyrus stays so happy ... Hemsworth or no Hemsworth.

Miley Cyrus' Bangerz Tour Gets NBC Special

Prepare for Miley Cyrus to invade your living room: NBC announced the pop star’s "Bangerz" tour will be featured in a two-hour special to air on July 6th.

Cyrus relayed the good news on Facebook yesterday. "Smilers! NBC is bringing #BANGERZTour straight to your living room!," she wrote. "Catch the 2-hour behind the scenes concert special on July 6 at 9pm/8pm CT!"

Stocked with behind-the-scenes footage and performances from her upcoming shows in Spain and Portgual, Cyrus’ NBC special should be an interesting test in network editing. The "Bangerz" tour has been a notoriously risqué affair, with the singer's raunchy performance including the riding of an inflatable penis.

Music programming remains a hot commodity for TV networks: HBO recently announced a 10-part miniseries featuring highlights from Beyoncé’s Mrs. Carter World Tour. Dubbed "Beyoncé: X10," a series of four-minute concert segments from the tour with air every Sunday evening ahead of the final season of True Blood.

Cyrus stayed busy while on the road for her "Bangerz" tour. After performing together onstage in Los Angeles, Cyrus and the Flaming Lips hit the studio to record what Lips’ frontman Wayne Coyne calls "completely weird" versions of the Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" and "A Day in the Life."

The "We Can't Stop" singer says she hopes to write music with the Lips for her next album. "On my last record, everything we did was with computers," she told Rolling Stone. "But they're real musicians – they can change keys on a whim. I've never seen anything like it. They've had me on this journey that's greater than anything I've been on. It's really deep."

Miley Cyrus Gets Restraining Order Against Alleged Stalker

Miley Cyrus obtained a temporary restraining order Friday against an Arizona man who was recently detained by police while trying to meet the singer-actress.

A Los Angeles judge granted Cyrus the stay-away order against Devon Meek after Cyrus' lawyers filed court documents stating that Meek, 24, believes the singer is communicating to him through her songs.

Los Angeles police arrested the man from the southeastern Arizona city of Sierra Vista on May 16, and he was placed in a psychiatric hospital, where he remains. Meek has said he will continue to try to meet Cyrus once he is released, according to filings by Cyrus' attorneys and a police detective.

Meek was arrested outside a property he believed is owned by Cyrus, but the documents don't specify the location.

Detective Rosibel Smith wrote in a sworn statement that Meek told officers they should shoot him in the head if he couldn't meet Cyrus.

Smith wrote that a police officer who interviewed Meek "informed me that Mr. Meek stated that when he is released from the hospital, he will not stop seeking Ms. Cyrus and that he will continue to go to Ms. Cyrus' residence until Ms. Cyrus accepts him or he dies."

A hearing to extend the restraining order for three years is scheduled for June 16.

There is no declaration from Cyrus in the filing. The pop star rose to fame as the star of the TV show "Hannah Montana" and has recently postponed several concerts while she recovers from her representatives have said is an allergic reaction to antibiotics.

Miley Cyrus Performs In Underwear After Missing Costume Change

Miley Cyrus is pushing the envelope again, but this time, it wasn't exactly intentional.

The star took the stage during her March 9 Bangerz Tour performance in Milwaukee, Wis. wearing a particularly revealing outfit that appeared to just be a bra and panties ... because apparently, it was just her bra and panties.

No, that's not a new costume; that's the absence of a costume. After the performance, Cyrus took to Twitter to tell her fans what happened. She admitted that for the first time, she couldn't complete her costume change quickly enough and had to run out onstage in her undies when her next song began to play.

Miley Cyrus Uses A Teleprompter Onstage During Her Concerts

Co-writing songs and performing them night after night apparently doesn't guarantee you'll have the lyrics committed to memory -- not if your name is Miley Cyrus.

The 21-year-old singer is facing criticism after fans spotted her glancing at lyrics on a teleprompter positioned at the edge of the stage. Photos captured at a recent Las Vegas concert show a karaoke-style display on the screen.
Of course, artists forgetting their lyrics onstage is not uncommon, and the spontaneity of those moments can sometimes be a concert's most charming event. But during a tour that's generated one controversial move after the next -- from make-out sessions with Katy Perry to an oral-sex simulation with a Bill Clinton impersonator -- it seems some find this a step too far in terms of Cyrus tour behavior.

"I was at Miley's Vegas concert and took these pictures because I couldn't believe she needed a teleprompter with lyrics to all of her songs throughout the entire concert," an eyewitness told RadarOnline. "And it's not like they were just there for nothing -- I caught her looking at them more than a few times!"

Disgruntled Parents Want Miley Cyrus' 'Bangerz' Tour Shut Down

No one is surprised that Miley Cyrus' "Bangerz" tour pushes the limits of performance artistry, but people are starting to wonder if she's maybe taken things a bit too far this time. Cyrus' recent tour antics are making her MTV Video Music Awards "Blurred Lines" performance look tame and family-friendly.

"Bangerz" has all the twerking, straddling and Bill Clinton-scandal-mocking that a person could want, but not everyone's happy about it.

In fact, many parents are so upset with Cyrus' antics that they want the entire "Bangerz" tour to be shut down. MusicFix reports that Cyrus' management team has been inundated with complaints about the performance, saying that it is just too racy and inappropriate for young fans. The show doesn't have a rating of any kind, so children of all ages can see it if they are accompanied by a parent. We send our regrets to any preteens who have had to watch Miley straddle a flying hot dog, stuff a thong in her mouth and simulate oral sex on a Bill Clinton impersonator while accompanied by mom and dad.
Many parents have responded to the show's reviews by posting their tickets for sale on Ebay and StubHub, while others are demanding refunds and refusing to attend. One miffed parent reportedly even contacted Cyrus' record bosses at RCA, to say that his or her family walked out of a performance, unwilling to subject their 9-year-old child to a "porn show."

“Miley’s management have been flooded with complaints, mainly from parents, since her tour began last week in Canada with calls for the entire tour to be axed," a source told MusicFix.

Apparently, the entire team behind the tour has been called for an emergency meeting to strategize after learning that several U.S. arenas are considering dropping her act.

All we can do for now is pick our jaws up off the floor and wait for the next chapter of "Bangerz" drama to unfold.

Rashida Jones Calls Out Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj for "Pornification of Pop"

Following her "stop acting like wh*res" Twitter rant, the Parks & Recreation star has penned an essay for Glamour detailing her frustrations with the "pornification of pop" these days, singling out the likes of Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj for saturating mainstream music with graphic sexual imagery.

"This fall I was hanging out with my sisters, catching up on pop-culture stuff. We watched some music videos, looked at a few Instagram accounts, and checked out blogs. And amid the usual duck-lipped selfies and staged paparazzi photos, a theme emerged: Stripper poles, G-strings, boobs, and a lot of tongue action were all now normal accessories for mainstream pop stars," she writes. "That was at the end of October, a month that had already brought us the Miley Cyrus cross-continental twerk-a-thon and Nicki Minaj's Halloween pasties."

"With the addition of Rihanna writhing on a pole in her 'Pour It Up' video, and Lady Gaga's butt-crack cover art for the song that goes 'Do what you want with my body,' I was just done. I'd had enough."
Adding that she's "not a prude" and "grew up on a healthy balance of sexuality in pop stars," Jones explains that sexy doesn't mean "having to take an ultrasound tour of some pop star's privates."

"Yes, we had Madonna testing the boundaries of appropriateness, but then we also had Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Cyndi Lauper, women who played with sexuality but didn't make it their calling card," she continues. "Twenty years later, all the images seem homogenous. Every star interprets "sexy" the same way: lots of skin, lots of licking of teeth, lots of bending over. I find this oddly...boring."

The actress also explains her use of the word "wh*re" in her previous rant, writing, "The fact that I was accused of 'slut-shaming,' being anti-woman, and judging women's sex lives crushed me. I consider myself a feminist. I would never point a finger at a woman for her actual sexual behavior, and I think all women have the right to express their desires. But I will look at women with influence—millionaire women who use their 'sexiness' to make money—and ask some questions. There is a difference, a key one, between 'shaming' and 'holding someone accountable.'"

Miley Cyrus Made GQ's Least Influential Celebrities Of 2013 List

Dennis Rodman is at the top of a list no one wants to be on. He's been named GQ's No. 1 least influential celebrity of 2013.

The 52-year-old former basketball player who has visited Kim Jong Un in North Korea was selected as the top pick in the magazine's third annual list of the least influential celebrities, which also includes twerking pop star Miley Cyrus, President Barack Obama, and celebrity chef Paula Deen. GQ called Rodman a "Q-list celebrity willing to commit borderline treason just to hang out with a dictator who himself aspires to be a Q-list celebrity."

Rodman said this week he's preparing to return to North Korea late next month for an exhibition basketball tour.

Deen, whose cooking empire imploded this year after she admitted to having used the N-word to describe black employees, came in at No. 2 on the list behind Rodman, while former sexting U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner took the No. 3 spot.

"He's the saddest lecher in American politics, and that's saying something, because they're all lechers," the magazine said.

Cyrus, who garnered attention at this year's MTV Video Music Awards for her provocative performance with a foam finger, won the No. 6 position for "basically trying every inane strategy she could think of to rile up America's few remaining pearl clutchers." The magazine noted "what's sad is that it totally worked."

Miley Cyrus Turns Heads At The MTV EMAs In Plunging, Backless Dress

Miley Cyrus left little to the imagination in a plunging, backless dress for her 2013 MTV European Music Awards arrival tonight (Nov. 10).

Cyrus opted for a minidress featuring images of rappers Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur and the words "Please Stop Violence" on it. The lace-up dress had a plunging neckline and was completely backless, minus the material covering Cyrus' derriere. She paired the look with heavy gold jewelry and thigh-high checkered boots.

The 20-year-old is set to perform "Wrecking Ball," according to MTV News. Prior to the event, which is being held at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Cyrus tweeted a naked shower selfie for her 15 million followers while getting ready for the night.

Dolly Parton On Miley Cyrus: 'She's Just Trying To Find Her Own Place And Wings And Learn To Fly'

Dolly Parton is Miley Cyrus' godmother, so of course she has nothing but kind words about the 20-year-old singer. But that doesn't mean she's taking her mentoring opportunities to an extreme.

In a new interview with the the London Evening Standard, Parton, 67, said she has advised Cyrus at times but "would never dream of" inserting herself in the singer's career moves unsolicited.

“I’ve loved her through the years and watched her grow up, and I’ve seen how smart she is and how talented she is," Parton said. "I don’t think people really realize yet what a great singer and writer she really is. She’s just trying to find her own place and wings and learn to fly."

Even if it's a given that Parton would voice her support for Cyrus, she still serves as a tally mark on Team Miley. A number of musicians (Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Kanye West) have joined the coterie of Cyrus supporters, while others (Cher, Sinead O'Connor, Elton John, Pink) have taken a seat on the other side of the fence.

“It’s not easy being young," Partons said. "It’s hard to know what to do. You’ve almost got to sacrifice your damn soul just to get anything done.”

Parton also voiced an interest in recording a duet with Cyrus, which is clearly the best idea she's had since rapping about Oprah and "Duck Dynasty" on "The Queen Latifah Show" two weeks ago.

    Miley Cyrus Debuts Belly-Baring Dress

Miley Cyrus came out to support her boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, at the 'Hunger Games' world premiere in Los Angeles. The singer arrived in a two-piece red carpet outfit. Recent belly-baring dresses from Rooney Mara and Gwyneth Paltrow prompted comments like "I dream of Jeannie," so no surprise critics are already weighing in on Miley's unconventional choice.

E! Online labeled the Pucci dress "skimpy" and she was called out on Twitter for wearing a glittery bustier and "gypsy skirt," while others are already praising her unconventional choice and saying she "makes it work."

Miley added an unusual touch when it came to jewelry, as well, and wore a bracelet chained to a ring. She completed the look with a very specific shoe choice. "His mom made me wear stilts," Miley explained, saying her boyfriend Liam's mom steered her towards sky-high Christian Louboutin heels. "I'm like five feet, so I need my 'Liam shoes.'"

The couple, who have a foot of height difference between them, walked the black carpet together and appeared closer than ever. Miley even offered up some advice for Liam after spending years in the spotlight, saying she emphasizes staying close to the people who love you for who you truly are.

Miley went on to say the two try to keep the fame out of their relationship, and explained that this will be the first time she sees Liam onscreen as Gale Hawthorne. The 19-year-old added that she was happy to be there to support him for this particular movie, since she knows her boyfriend is very excited about the part. And for the premiere, Miley had a much simpler role in mind: "I just have to be arm candy tonight."

Billy Ray Cyrus Absolutely Approves of Miley Getting Back With Ex

Last week, Miley Cyrus' brother Trace confirmed that his sister has gotten back with her ex Liam Hemsworth and no one seems to approve of the couple more that Miley's father Billy Ray Cyrus.

E! Online is reporting that Billy Ray was asked what he thought of Hemsworth and not only did the singer wholeheartedly approve of his daughter's boyfriend, he couldn't stop praising the 22-year-old actor, "He's a great guy. He's solid. He's got great character."

Billy Ray also added, "And I have to tell you, on or off the record, he's just a good guy. He's just a really good guy. I really like him a lot."

The 49-year-old singer/song writer/actor also gave his opinion on Hemsworth's latest project 'The Hunger Games' where he plays the character of Gale Hawthorne, "Have you read that script?" Billy Ray asked, "The script is killer, and Liam is going to knock it out of the park. He's a tremendous talent."

Billy Ray also revealed that he would not mind some more 'Hannah Montana' in his life, "You know, there's wonderful buzz right now for a prequel to Hannah Montana. I know Miley couldn't step back and be that little girl, but I could get my mullet back real quick."

The Disney show ended in January after four successful seasons and it looks like Billy Ray may be planning a prequel with one of his younger daughters.
