  • Xiaomi vows to fight High Court order to resume India sales

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi says it will fully comply with the Delhi high Court order asking it to stop sales of its smatphones in the country, Manu Jain, head of the company's India operations, told ET. Xiaomi, the third largest smartphone maker in the world, had earlier suspended the upcoming flash sale of its Red Mi 1S and Red Mi Note smartphones.

"We have not been served the notice till now, but we know about the issue. If the court has asked us not to do it, we won't do it," Jain said referring to the high court order barring Xiaomi from selling, importing or advertising mobile phones in India until February 5, the next date of hearing. "We would want to be 100% compliant with Indian rules and regulations."

The order, which followed telecom equipment maker Ericsson's plea that Xiaomi was infringing on its patents, leaves its future flash sales and business prospects in ambiguity even as the fast growing smartphone maker is trying to work out legally to resolve this issue in a critical market for the company. "We will explore all options including legal options on what can be done. Our lawyers and legal teams are working on it but we don't know how this will proceed.
We will communicate and explain very openly to our users about what the order says, once we get it," Jain added. The Delhi High Court on Tuesday had asked Xiaomi and its exclusive partner Flipkart to stop selling and importing phones in India until February 5 on Ericsson's allegations that Xiaomi infringed eight of its registered standard essential patents.

Hugo Barra, head of international operations at Xiaomi, apologised to enthusiasts on Facebook on Thursday night while informing them about the company's decision to suspend sales. He added however, that the company 'firmly' intends to continue operations in India.

India vs Australia, 1st Test: Fifties from Kohli, Vijay prop India

India are battling hard on the fifth and final day of the opening Test in Adelaide on Saturday against a Nathan Lyon-led Australian bowling attack.

Half-centuries from Murali Vijay and captain Virat Kohli have given India hope after opener Shikhar Dhawan was out for 9 and Cheteshwar Pujara for 21.

Earlier, the hosts declared their second innings at 290/5, setting India a target of 364.

India lost two wickets but were resisting Australia's bowlers well on the final day of the opening Adelaide Test on Saturday.

Faced with an improbable 364 winning target off a minimum 98 overs after Australia declared on their overnight score of 290 for five, the tourists were 105 for two at lunch.

Opener Murali Vijay was unbeaten on 47 with skipper Virat Kohli not out 25.

In hot sunny conditions, the Indians lost the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara in the extended morning session, but Vijay and Kohli safely got their team through to lunch.
India face an against-the-odds target with no team scoring more than 315 to win a Test match at the Adelaide Oval since Australia overhauled England at the ground in 1902.

Dhawan appeared to get a bad call by umpire Ian Gould when he was given out caught behind off a Mitchell Johnson bouncer for nine in the day's fifth over.

Replays indicated that the ball came off Dhawan's shoulder and not glove as wicketkeeper Brad Haddin took an athletic catch down the leg-side.

Vijay survived a big shout on 24 for leg before wicket going back on his stumps off Lyon.

Umpire Marais Erasmus turned down Lyon's vociferous appeal and replays showed the ball would have hit the stumps.

Pujara was done by one that Lyon straightened and he edged to Haddin for 21 in the 20th over leaving the tourists at 57 for two.

Katy Perry Rocks A Matching Crop Top And Skirt On The Red Carpet

Katy Perry took the crop top trend to the red carpet when she stepped out Tuesday night for the 2014 Australian Record Industry Association Awards in Sydney.

Perry's two-piece ensemble, created by Australian designer Jaime Lee, featured a belly-baring halter top and a long, see-through pencil skirt adorned with sequined flowers. She paired the outfit with purple pumps and a head wrap.
While presenting the award for Best Female Artist, Perry gave a speech about her love for all things Australia; her Prismatic World Tour kicked off Down Under Nov. 7.

“No longer will I use straws in my chocolate milk. I’ll use Tim Tams!" she said, per the Guardian. "No longer will I put butter on bread, I’ll use Vegemite. No longer will I eat chicken, I’ll eat kangaroo. Actually that’s disgusting. Why do guys you eat something that’s on your national emblem?”

11 Realizations That Will Change The Way You Think About Your Favorite Movies

How did we all miss these things the first time? There are certain gaping plot holes in movies that make you question larger aspects of the premise. Couldn't Rose have fit Jack onto that floating door? How did the Karate Kid win with a kick to the face when that was strictly forbidden?

These are not those plot holes. Instead, we give you some peculiar realizations about certain blockbuster movies that probably won't ruin them for you forever, but might make you think twice the next time you watch:

    1. The promoter in "School of Rock," who convinced all those adults to show up to a local Battle of the Bands on a weekday morning, deserves a raise.

    TK TK gifs

The climactic scene would have been way less fun to watch if the band of kids had been playing to a more realistic crowd of their parents, miscellaneous event staff and maybe a handful of others. Instead they played to thousands of people who not only showed up, but didn't just wait outside for their friend's band to play. Those kids will probably never see such a big crowd again.

    2. The supercouple name for Katniss and Peeta from "The Hunger Games" would either be Katpee or Peeniss.

    katniss peeta

    "KATPEE: READY TO SPLIT?"
    "PEENISS: FROM TEARS TO TRIUMPH!!"
Both would be hilarious on the cover of tabloids.

    3. Willy Wonka got really lucky that all those Golden Ticket winners spoke English.

    TK TK gifs

Although the Wonka chocolate bars were sold all over the world, the winners were German, English and American -- not including the Paraguayan millionaire who tried to forge his way to victory. Since Willy Wonka is attempting to give the company over to the winner, this lack of language barrier worked out very conveniently.  read more

Transgender Supermodel Lea T. Opens Up About Life After Having Gender Confirmation Surgery

In 2011, Lea T. was one of the most in-demand supermodels in the world. She had it all -- beauty, fame and a big paycheck. But, as she revealed that year on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," she had spent much of her life tormented by a painful secret.

Lea T. was assigned male at birth and grew up the son of a world-famous Brazilian soccer star and a very religious Catholic mother. As a child growing up in Italy, T. always felt different and questioned her sexuality at a young age.

"Realizing young [that] I like the same sex, for me was a taboo," Lea T. said on "The Oprah Show" three years ago. "I was feeling really uncomfortable."

When T. began presenting as a woman, she felt more like her true self, but still struggled with this new life. "It's really difficult because you fight with all the world," she explained at the time. "You fight with your family, you fight with yourself, too, because you have to change everything in yourself."
In 2008, Lea T. began hormone replacement therapy and was awaiting gender confirmation surgery, a difficulty in and of itself. "When you start your process, your heart becomes really sick. I was really disappointed with life because you walking in the street and the people laughing about you," she said tearfully. "When you start the hormones, it's really, really hard. I think it's weird seeing my breasts and the penis."

When she spoke with Oprah back then, Lea T. was still awaiting her surgery and admitted that she was scared of both the physical and emotional pain of the procedure. A year after the interview, in 2012, Lea T. had the surgery and recently opened up to "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" about what her life has been like since her medical transition.

"It was a really intense period," she admits. "I had a lot of pressure on me and on my life."

At the same time, she says, she understood that the surgery wasn't going to alter anything about her fundamental personality or character.

Hilary Swank Rocks A Polka Dot Bikini In Malibu

Hilary Swank looked incredible as she hit the beach in Malibu, California, with her beau, Laurent Fleury, on Sunday.

The Academy Award-winning actress was all smiles in a black polka dot bikini top, pink shorts and a hat while tossing a ball around with Fleury's two children. Swank and Fleury, a French real estate broker, have been dating for nearly two years.

Swank, 40, has kept a low profile in recent years, despite starring in two new movies, "You're Not You," in theaters now, and "The Homesman," which co-stars Tommy Lee Jones, Meryl Streep and Streep's daughter, Grace Gummer.

Mama June Could Lose Custody Of Her Children Amid Allegations She's Dating A Child Molester

Last week TLC canceled "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" amid allegations that June "Mama June" Shannon is dating convicted child molester Mark McDaniel, but the 35-year-old mother of four stands to lose much more than just her show.

On Friday, June's eldest daughter, Anna Shannon Cardwell, who is now 20 and married with a 2-year-old daughter of her own, confirmed that she was the 8-year-old whom McDaniel molested.

While her mother has repeatedly denied that she's dating McDaniel, more evidence to the contrary continues to emerge. Sources told TMZ that Shannon's recent split with Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson, was actually due to her own infidelity rather than his.

On Sunday, TMZ published photos of Shannon sitting in a stairwell with her 9-year-old daughter Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson and McDaniel, who was convicted of aggravated child molestation in 2003. He was released from Dodge State Prison on March 1, 2014, after serving 10 years behind bars.
The scandal has already lost the family their show, but June could stand to lose custody of her three daughters, Lauryn "Pumpkin" Shannon, 14, Jessica "Chubbs" Shannon, 17, and Alana, according to a spokesperson for child services.

"Generally speaking, when we receive a report that children are living around a sex offender ... it would certainly rise to the level of concern of us looking into it," Susan Boatwright, a representative of Georgia's Division of Family and Child Services, told People magazine.

Due to privacy laws, Boatwright was unable to say if there are any ongoing investigations into the allegations against June Shannon, but did say, "If we thought a child was in harm's way in any way, shape or form, we would develop a safety plan and make sure the children are not around an offender."

Watch Jim Carrey And Kate McKinnon Have A 'Chandelier' Dance-Off

The child dancer from Sia's "Chandelier" music video has now inspired several individuals to don nude body suits and/or convulse rhythmically in the vicinity of a mattress.
We had Lena Dunham, Jimmy Kimmel and can now add Jim Carrey, Kate McKinnon and Iggy Azalea to the list. Watch the good old-fashioned dance-off to Sia's "Chandelier" from last night's "Saturday Night Live" above.

Hilary Duff And Ex Mike Comrie Go Hand-In-Hand To Halloween Party

Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie looked like very friendly exes when they headed to a Halloween party together over the weekend.

Paparazzi photographed Duff and Comrie walking hand-in-hand into the Casamigos Annual Halloween Party in Los Angeles Friday night. The 27-year-old actress dressed as a tooth fairy, according to Us Weekly, and was all smiles as she strolled into the bash with her estranged husband, who was decked out in a tuxedo.

On Saturday, the duo was spotted together again buying Halloween decorations with their son, Luca, in Hollywood.
Duff and Comrie announced their separation in January after more than three years of marriage. Although they have been seen together many times since then, the "Chasing the Sun" singer previously dismissed speculation they are back together.

"I'm separated from my husband right now, which has been a very difficult thing to go through, but we have a lot of love for each other and we have this beautiful baby," she told Billboard in July, adding that there is a song on her upcoming album "about my separation and my love for this person, that maybe we're not meant to be together, maybe we are. It's very, very personal."

Three Killed as Firing, Arson Grips West Bengal's Birbhum

Three persons were killed and nearly a dozen injured in violent clashes on Monday in West Bengal's Birbhum district, between suspected supporters of the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP.

Footage on channels showed scores of armed assailants running through paddy fields in a village and firing country-made guns indiscriminately. Several people suffered bullet injuries; three of them reportedly died at a local hospital. Many houses were also set on fire.
No arrests have been made so far, with both the Trinamool and the BJP accusing each other for the violence.

Questions are being raised on the alleged failure of the police to contain the violence. Police personnel allegedly did not enter the village till at least two hours after the firing.

The area had been witnessing tension over the last few days.

On October 24, a police party was attacked with bombs, sticks and bricks when they raided Chakmondola village, seven kilometres from the site of yesterday's clashes, following reports of bombs hidden at a health centre. The same team had earlier seized several plastic drums full of crude bombs from a nearby village.

Kelly Osbourne Pays Tribute To Joan Rivers With New Tattoo

Heartbroken by the loss of her close friend and "Fashion Police" co-star Joan Rivers, Kelly Osbourne recently memorialized Rivers with some fresh ink. On Thursday, Osbourne posted a photo of her new bumble bee tattoo, located on her shoulder, with a touching caption explaining the meaning behind it.

"In honor of you @joanrivers...'If you looked at aerodynamics, at science, the bumble bee should not be able to fly. Physically, it was just not anatomically equipped to soar. Yet it did, defying gravity, defying logic. The bee was a creature that defied and beat the odds, a miracle.' Thank you for being my miracle @joanrivers," Osbourne wrote.
Along with hundreds of other celebrities who expressed their grief after Rivers' death in September, Osbourne issued a touching statement to HollywoodLife.com about her friendship with the comedian:

I’m completely heartbroken by the loss of my beloved Joan. Not only was she my boss, she was and will always be my teacher, therapist, closest friend, inspiration and the only grandmother I ever knew. She was family and I will never forget her.

Taylor Swift's 'Blank Space' Leaks Online, Gets Immediately Removed

Taylor Swift is seen performing on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' on October 23, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.

Taylor Swift's "1989" is due out on Monday, and though we've only heard three official tracks, another song leaked online on Friday. "Blank Space" found its way to YouTube, and probably won't stay there for long. It's the second track and with lyrics like "Oh my God, look at that face/ You look like my next mistake" and "Darling, I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream" we're already hooked.

There's A Selena Gomez Song In 'Citizenfour'

Laura Poitras' new documentary, "Citzenfour," is the kind of stirring thriller that David Fincher or Paul Greengrass could have turned into a feature film. Part of that feeling comes from the way Poitras films Edward Snowden's interviews with Glenn Greenwald, clandestine meetings that bubble with creeping paranoia and mounting tension; part of it comes from the music, which sounds like the most Trent Reznor-y score this side of "The Social Network." As it turns out, there's a reason for that second one: the two most prominent songs in "Citzenfour" are by Reznor's Nine Inch Nails.
Both tracks come from "Ghosts I-IV," the 2008 album that was released long before Reznor won an Oscar for "The Social Network." The first, "02 Ghosts I," sets an eerie stage for "Citizenfour"; the second, "20 Ghosts IV," provides more of a hyperactive chase motif.

But if Reznor's brand of industrial instrumental work doesn't interest you, there's this: "Citizenfour" also includes a brief snippet of Selena Gomez's "Come and Get It" video, which is on in the background during a sequence where Snowden is packing his bags. A better distillation of what life was like in the spring 2013 might not be found on screen this year.

Toddler With Ebola In Mali May Have Infected Many People

Many people in Mali are at high risk of catching Ebola because the toddler who brought the disease to the country was bleeding from her nose as she traveled on a bus from Guinea, the World Health Organization warned Friday.

The U.N. agency is treating the situation as an emergency since many people may have had "high-risk exposures" to the 2-year-old girl during her journey through several towns in Mali, including two hours in the capital, Bamako. The girl was traveling with her grandmother.

The toddler died in an isolation tent at a hospital in the western city of Kayes on Friday, according to a nurse at the facility, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the press.

This is the first Ebola case in Mali and may expand to many more. The case highlights how quickly the virus can hop borders and even oceans, just as questions are being asked about what precautions health care workers who treat Ebola patients should take when they return home from the hot zone. Doctors Without Borders insisted Friday, after one of its doctors who worked in Guinea came down with Ebola in New York, that quarantines of returning health workers are not necessary when they do not show symptoms of the disease.
In the Mali case, however, the girl was visibly sick, WHO said, and an initial investigation has identified 43 people, including 10 health workers, she came into close contact with who are being monitored for symptoms and held in isolation. The child was confirmed to have Ebola on Thursday.

"The child's symptomatic state during the bus journey is especially concerning, as it presented multiple opportunities for exposures — including high-risk exposures — involving many people," the agency said in a statement.

The girl first went to a clinic in Mali on Monday and she was initially treated for typhoid, which she tested positive for. When she did not improve, she was tested for Ebola, and she is now being treated in isolation in the western city of Kayes.

Mali has long been considered highly vulnerable to Ebola's spread since it shares a border with the Ebola-hit countries of Guinea and Senegal, and staff from WHO and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were already there helping to prepare for a case. More WHO staff are being deployed.

The Ebola outbreak began in Guinea and has since spread to five other West African countries. The virus has also been imported to Spain and the United States. On Thursday, Craig Spencer, who had been working with Doctors Without Borders in Guinea and returned home to the U.S. about a week before, reported a fever and is now being treated at a New York hospital.

Some countries have banned travelers from the three main Ebola countries — Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone — and the U.S. started health screening of travelers arriving from there. But Doctors Without Borders said having its staffers quarantine themselves after leaving a country with Ebola is going too far if no symptoms are evident. A person infected with Ebola is not contagious until he or she starts showing symptoms.

Philips unveils feature phone for senior citizens for Rs 3,800

Philips Mobile Monday launched a new feature phone for senior citizens featuring a large font size, long battery life and SOS function, priced at Rs 3,800.

Senior citizens are often inconvenienced by the standard phones available in the market due to their small font size, short battery life and fragility, Philips said in a statement.

According to Pew Research Internet Group, elderly citizens face several difficulties while adopting new technologies.

Two in five elderly citizens indicated that they have a "physical or health condition that makes reading difficult or challenging" or a "disability, handicap, or chronic disease that prevents them from fully participating in many common daily activities", it added.

The phone makes use of large font sizes on a 2.4-inch screen to enable easy reading and the keypad also makes use of larger keys for comfortable viewing.

It comes with a 1630mAh Li-ion battery capacity and Xenium power saving technology that offers users up to 1,128 hours standby time and up to 24 hours talking time.

The handset also comes with SOS function that allows users to set three 'emergency' or SOS numbers.

In case of an emergency, users can press the SOS button hidden under the flashlight to dial out the pre-set SOS numbers. The phone will automatically connect to these numbers until the call gets answered by any one of the parties. It also has a flashlight that can be used even when the phone power is switched off.

"With changing lifestyles in metros in India and increasing incident of elderly abuse, senior citizens areoften left to support themselves by choice or otherwise. We specially designed this phone to make technology more accessible to and user-friendly for the elderly with minimum intervention from others," Sangfei Mobility Country Manager SAARC S S Bassi said.

Sang Fei is a subsidiary of China Electronics Corporation (CEC) that owns the exclusive global licence to market and sell mobile phones under the 'Philips' brand.

Sophie Simmons Big Wet Nipples Steal The Underwater Photo Show

Well, this is different. If you can put aside what some might consider a desecration of the Stars and Stripes, this Aleks Kocev H2o shoot of Sophie Simmons, first daughter of Gene and Shannon, is rather unique and alluring and most definitely, big ole nipple inspiring. Sophie definitely has some headlights that love to come out and play slippery when wet. We don't see a lot of Sophie outside of her reality TV appearances. Kind of a shame. She seems like she has some talent in the teasy photo...

Nicole Scherzinger Poses All Kinds of Slinky Hot

You could do worse than having Nicole Scherzinger model your slinky dresses. You could do worse than having her private modeling the Emperor's New Clothes in your bedroom late one Saturday evening. On the off chance that latter moment doesn't come to fruition, settle into this Misguided Collection for Fall 2014 with Nicole showing how hot their clothes can look on one super sextastic woman with an absolutely perfect body. Misguided indeed.
Nicole Scherzinger can't possibly qualify as underrated, but let's just say she doesn't get all the attention she deserves for being a world class especially amazing looking woman. I would give her such attention if I ran this world. I'd even document such attention on cell phone video and upload it to my iCloud account with the password 'BillGetsLucky'.  Just saying, in case the hackers are reading. No reason you can't release those tapes

Celebrities are joining hands to hold fundraiser events in aid of Hudhud cyclone and Kashmir flood victims

A month after Kashmir was hit by the worst flood of the last century; the film industry is joining hands to extend support to the victims of the calamity. ‘Hum Hain… Ummeed-E-Kashmir’ a concert that will be held simultaneously across seven cities will see artistes from the film and television industries come together to raise funds for the flood victims. Scheduled to be held on Saturday evening, the Hyderabad chapter of the event will have performances by Sonakshi Sinha, Shriya Saran, Sivamani, Leslie Lewis, Madhushalini, Deeksha Seth and Anuj Gurwara among others.

Touted to be the biggest ever charity show the concert will be held simultaneously across Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Jaipur. With the participating artistes waiving off their fees, all the proceeds from the shows will go towards helping the victims of the devastating floods. “That’s the way it should be,” says percussionist Sivamani, who will perform with his band at the concert in the city. Incidentally, the artiste plans to launch his new band at the event and promises an act full of entertainment and rock for the audience. “I feel strongly about extending help to those who need it. In fact, I usually spend most special occasions like Birthdays and festivals with these children at an orphanage in Bandra. We spend the day having fun and I play for them. So when I got a call about performing to raise funds for the flood victims I thought why not. What could be better than us being able to make a difference? I’m hoping to see good participation from the audience too towards the cause,” he says.
Music composer and singer Leslie Lewis too is eager to lend his support. Incidentally, he cancelled a prior commitment to be able to do his bit for the flood victims. “All of us feel bad when such things happen, but how many of us actually get out of our comfort zones and actually do something about the situation? When I was approached for the concert it was a matter of what was more important to me and if I could really set aside something for a good cause. It’s about going beyond the borders we set for ourselves,” he says, adding that he plans to perform his rock version of the National Anthem at the concert. “I last played it at the F1 in Delhi and it received a great response. I know people might be sceptical about having a rock version of the National Anthem, but rock is really an expression of emotion and not noise. I also plan to play my version of Naam Gum Jayega. It will be my tribute to Kashmir and R.D. Burman with elements of Hip Hop and Rap without straying from the original number.”

The film fraternity strongly feels that they can use their profession to convince people to generously donate towards the cause and Hum Hain is an attempt to do just that. “ We as a nation have always stood united when it comes to helping others in times of need. I strongly feel that it is my duty as a responsible citizen to help the flood victims in whatever way I can. Fortunately, I am in a profession where I can urge people to donate money or do whatever they can to raise funds for the cause,” says actor Sonakshi Sinha, who will dance to some popular numbers including her hit songs like Saree Ke fall Sa and Gandi Baat.

Shriya Saran on the other hand plans to do a classical number along with her college friend and danseuse Yamini Reddy. “It’s a worthy cause and I want to do whatever I possibly can to help those affected by the floods. I’ve trained in Kathak and we plan to put up a fusion act for Hum Hain… There will be elements of Kathak and Kuchipudi as well,” she says.

Sorry, You're Still Stuck With Cable For Now

There was much celebration earlier this week when HBO said you would soon be able to access the network's programming without having to pay for a TV subscription. One day later, CBS announced a $6 monthly service that will stream most of its live programming, as well as past and current shows, over the Internet.

Analysts have called this the beginning of the great unbundling -- the dawning of an age where we'll be able to pick programming a la carte and choose what we want to watch, rather than having to pay each month for hundreds of channels we don't.

It's "the first crack in the dike," Michael Davies, a co-founder and senior partner at Endeavour Partners, a firm that consults for broadband, media and content companies, told The Huffington Post after HBO's announcement Wednesday. "If HBO will go, then pretty much everybody else will go in due time."

But it will probably be a while yet before people cut the cord en masse so they can hand-pick from the growing number of Internet-delivered offerings. The cable bundle is still tightly bound, and it's far from coming apart completely. Live sports programming, for one thing, remains a huge draw. CBS's new service, which for now is only available in 14 cities, won't offer Thursday and Sunday NFL games.

And depending on what you subscribe to, an unbundled world could wind up being pretty pricey. HBO hasn't announced how much its new service will cost, but The Information, a technology news site, has reported it'll be around $15 a month. Some observers have pointed out that once you add up your Netflix, Hulu Plus, HBO and CBS subscriptions, plus whatever additional networks come to offer standalone services (ESPN on its own could cost as much as $30 a month, according to one analysis), you could be paying more per month than it would cost to get a premium cable subscription.

Bloomberg's Lucas Shaw, citing data from Hudson Square Research, reports that it would cost over $100 a month to subscribe to Netflix, Hulu, HBO, CBS, the Tour de France, WWE wrestling and three of the four major pro sports leagues. And that's on top of what you're already paying for Internet.

"If you want all the sports, you should just get cable TV," Daniel Ernst, an analyst at Hudson Square Research, told Bloomberg.

But at least you'd have the ability to choose another way to get programming -- and choice is not something consumers have had a lot of when it comes to TV subscriptions. Cable bills have jumped a whopping 97 percent over the last 14 years, and that doesn't include fees, taxes or promotions, according to SNL Kagan, a media researcher.

Pregnant Blake Lively Holds Her Belly In Latest Preserve Photo

Blake Lively sure has something to smile about.

The 27-year-old actress is pregnant with her first child with husband Ryan Reynolds. She made the big announcement on her lifestyle website, Preserve, on Oct. 6.

On Friday, she shared another pregnancy photo on the site. In the shot, the blond beauty wears a Sam and Lavi floral blouse and printed skirt. She smiles, looking at the camera, with her two hands placed on her belly.
The photo appears on Lively's site within a post titled "Bringing Up Baby."

"With a new baby on the way there is so much to do!" the post reads. "But before experiencing the joy of 3am screams, seemingly impossible amounts of poop and having a favorite shirt covered in reflux… there are presents to open, onesies to dye, there is cake to serve, advice to be shared and all around celebration to be had."

The post includes pictures from a fall celebration the actress had with other pregnant women.

Jennifer Lopez's Abs Game Is Next Level

Jennifer Lopez's abs made an appearance Wednesday in West Hollywood, California. The singer was spotted pulling a tank top over her purple sports bra and black leggings outside the gym. Later that evening, she was photographed heading to dinner in a white midriff-baring ensemble.
In May, Lopez revealed she tried the 22-day vegan diet that Beyonce and Jay Z completed last year.

"I did the vegan 22-day plan and it was really good, and I kept on with it for a few more weeks and now I've incorporated a little bit of fish here and there," she told Ryan Seacrest. "But I've got to tell you, I enjoy it. I enjoy eating that way. I never did and I didn't know how good you can feel when you put healthy stuff in your body. I was so used to just eating the way I grew up."

James Franco And Seth Rogen Are Naked, Just Chillin' In The Wilderness

James Franco and Seth Rogen's latest ridiculous stunt involves hanging out naked in the wilderness together and, of course, documenting their nude adventures on Instagram. Franco shared two photos of himself with Rogen on his Instagram account Friday and another on Saturday. While Franco references "Naked And Afraid" in his caption we can't say for sure if these two are officially filming an episode for the reality show. Let's face it: It's totally believable that this is simply Franco and Rogen's idea of a good time.

'Outlander,' The Wedding Episode And TV's Sexual Revolution

It would pain me greatly if critics and viewers dismissed "Outlander" for irrelevant, trivial or condescending reasons.

Don't mistake my purpose: I'm not here to tell you "Outlander" is a perfect show. I like it, I loved a couple of episodes, but I outlined some of my issues with it in my original review.

That said, sometimes a show on the margin of the public's attention does something radically different -- even revolutionary -- and it'd be a real shame if the show's non-trendy status prevented people from recognizing the fantastic thing it has done.

"Outlander" has blown up a lot of the received ideas about sex on television -- how it's shot, who it's for, who it's made by and who it's about. The show's Sept. 20 episode, in which the two lead characters get married and have a lot of sex, was nothing short of revolutionary in its depiction of nudity and intimacy, and in its willingness to entertain the female point of view.

I'm not saying other shows haven't done compelling and interesting things with sex on occasion, or even on a regular basis. As Emily Nussbaum tweeted the other day, "we are living in a dirty honest TV wonderland." I agree, and this development is tremendously exciting.

It's a distinct relief that "Outlander" is not alone. We've now seen two full seasons of the twisted power dynamics that inform those strange, intense hotel-room encounters in "Masters of Sex." "Girls," obviously, has an honest treatment of sex as one of its main goals, and Jill Soloway, partly inspired by Lena Dunham, just unleashed "Transparent," a fantastically complex depiction of all kinds of desires. Thanks in part to streaming options and an expanding array of adventurous creators and networks, shows with sexually unapologetic women suddenly seem to be all over the place: "The Fall," "The Good Wife," "The Americans," "Orphan Black," "New Girl," "You're the Worst" and "Orange Is the New Black" are all part of a seemingly unstoppable wave of shows that treat the sexual activities of their leading ladies with refreshing matter-of-factness and genuine interest.
Even a few years ago, it was not like this. Shows like this cropped up here and there, but they were not thick on the ground.

To overgeneralize, you could say that the post-"Oz," post-"Sopranos" revolution in television was all about what a protagonist could do. The wave of ambitious dramas that crested in the mid- to late-'00s (and still lingers in sizable pockets of the TV landscape) explored the outer limits of the behavior of a complex individual ... as long as that individual was a dude.

The last two or three years have seen a welcome and overdue explosion in who a protagonist could be. "Looking," "Happy Valley," "Borgen," "The Honorable Woman," "The Bridge," "Enlightened," "Broad City," "Top of the Lake," "Sleepy Hollow" and the shows mentioned above -- these and other programs often dominate conversations about adventurous television, and they aren't all that concerned with changing definitions of masculinity, the status anxiety of white guys and all that anti-hero baggage. They often feature diverse ensembles; they're often about how communities and individuals regard each other and change each other. A new set of thematic concerns has joined the big TV party, and that's also exciting. ax

Ayperi Alekseeva Gets 9-Pound Hairball Removed From Her Stomach

A 18-year-old girl in Batken, Kyrgyzstan went through a hair-raising medical procedure in order to have a nine-pound hairball removed from her stomach.

Ayperi Alekseeva was admitted into a hospital recently after she complained of stomach pains so severe that she was unable to eat anything, or even drink water.

X-rays revealed the hairy blockage and realized they needed to operate quickly.

“It was actually the only alternative, nothing else would solve the problem," surgeon Bahadir Bebezov said, according to News.com.au.
Bebezov said the hairball formed in Alekseeva's stomach because she had a nasty habit of picking up hair from the carpet and eating it and also chewing the tips of her hair.

"In fact her stomach was so badly swollen from hair and bits of wool from the carpet that it literally just oozed out as soon as the wall of the stomach was cut," Bebezov said according to the Telegraph.

After going through the ordeal of major surgery, Alekseeva has promised her hair-eating days are over.

She's not the only person who paid a price for having a bizarre taste in snack foods.

In October, 2012, doctors in Indore, India removed a hair ball weighing nearly four pounds from the stomach and small intestine of a 19-year-old girl.

Like Alekseeva, she too had a taste for hair, but combined it with chalk.

Sickening moment suspected British paedophile leads 11-year-old Cambodian girl up to 'secret sex abuse room

Michael Jones, 55, is in jail awaiting trial for carrying out indecent acts against minors and paying for child prostitution

This disturbing video shows a suspected British paedophile leading an 11-year-old Cambodian girl up to his rented room.

Michael Jones, 55, is currently in jail awaiting trial after being charged with carrying out indecent acts against minors and paying for child prostitution.

Undercover surveillance, given exclusively to MirrorOnline, shows Welshman Jones nonchalantly strolling through the back streets of the country's capital Phnom Penh followed by an 11-year-old girl.

They then climb up a ladder to a rented hotel room.

The girl later told police a man paid her just £3 for sex. She says she has been abused a total of four times.
In other footage, Jones, originally from South Wales, is followed by three half-dressed eight and nine-year-olds from an impoverished local family.

The children follow him to a restaurant where Jones is said to have bought them pizza and ice cream.

Their parents say Jones asked to take them away in exchange for paying their rent.

They refused but allowed him to spend time with the children.

The girls have since alleged he touched them inappropriately.

Charity campaigners Action Pout Les Enfants (APLE) took the pictures and video after being tipped-of about Jones' alleged activity with underage girls.

He is later filmed being confronted by police who arrested him at a taxi rank in him in front of his 22-year-old Cambodian girlfriend.

California Quietly Adopts Landmark Condom Law To Protect Sex Workers

Last week, without fanfare or media attention, California became the first state in the nation to adopt a law aiming to protect sex workers from being prosecuted as prostitutes merely because they're carrying condoms. The police practice of targeting for arrest those in possession of multiple condoms undermines critical efforts to help this vulnerable population avoid sexually transmitted diseases, advocates for sex workers argue.

The advocates applauded California's legislation as a step in the right direction, but they said the measure as written doesn’t go far enough.

"It's great that the California Legislature has contemplated this issue and taken it seriously," Sienna Baskin, managing director of the New York-based Sex Worker Project at the Urban Justice Center, told The Huffington Post. "That said, I do think a more comprehensive bill would be more effective."

The California legislation, which Gov. Jerry Brown (D) signed into law on Sept. 19, requires a court to state explicitly that the presence of condoms is relevant to the individual case before prosecutors can use them as evidence of prostitution. The original bill, authored by California Assemblymember Tom Ammiano (D-San Francisco), would have banned the use of condoms entirely as evidence of prostitution, but it didn’t have the votes to pass.
"Right now, there’s no process, and condoms are admitted into court even when they aren’t actual evidence," Wendy Hill, Ammiano’s senior legislative assistant, said to HuffPost. "There are very few cases [against sex workers] in which an actual condom is listed as a valid piece of evidence."

A report released by Human Rights Watch in 2012 looked at prostitution cases in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington. It found that in all four cities, police officers frequently seized condoms from sex workers and used them as justification for arrest. "The practice makes sex workers and transgender women reluctant to carry condoms for fear of arrest, causes them to engage in sex without protection, and puts them at risk of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases," stated the 112-page report, published in advance of that year's International AIDS Conference.

Advocates for sex workers hope the additional legal requirement under California’s new law will act as a deterrent against specifically targeting those sex workers who carry condoms. "We believe that the process of having to seek a court’s permission on a repeated basis will ultimately prove too burdensome for many district attorneys to pursue," Whitney Engeran-Cordova, senior director of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s public health division, said in a statement. "As a result, sex workers, prostitutes and others may now possess more than one condom without the current -- and rational -- fear of incriminating themselves."

Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra meet with an accident

Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra met with an accident. Fortunately, they escape unhurt. While coming back from Jalandhar, Shilpa and Raj narrowly escape the mishap. The couple went to Jalandhat to address some promotional event.
The accident took place when the other car tried to overtake Shilpa’s car at the venue and at the last minute major clash was averted. They were all saved because of skills of Shilpa’s driver. The rash driver almost hit Shilpa's car. The scene turned worse when Shilpa and Raj’s bodyguard got down to thrash the rash driver.

The incident was reported to the police station.  Restless and frightened Shilpa said that due to the blessings of Maa Durga their lives were saved. a

Female Farmers Make Nude Calendar To Raise Money For New Land

Two Florida women hope that by selling a pin-up calendar featuring naked female farmers and strategically placed produce, they can raise enough money for a down payment on some new land.

That's the pitch behind an Indiegogo campaign from Ten-Speed Greens Urban Farm. The company's owners, Claire Mitchell and Danielle Krasniqi, are currently farm-less; the landlord of their previous farm wanted to build homes there instead. So the ladies and their friends decided to strip down -- tastefully -- and rally folks to donate to their cause.

There was a time when Ten Speed Greens Urban Farm, in Tallahassee, totally cranked. With only a six-person staff, it produced about 90 pounds of salad greens -- arugula, red mustard, kale, broccoli shoots and more -- every week for restaurants, local markets and their community-supported agriculture program. The farm produced more than a ton of tomatoes in its first year.

But they were just renting their land. Now, Krasniqi and Mitchell have decided they wanted a more permanent arrangement. "We wanted it to be an urban farm," Krasniqi told The Huffington Post, "but land is more expensive in the city." Being close enough to the city to deliver their produce by bike is important to them (hence their name, Ten-Speed Greens), so they started brainstorming ways to fund the dream.
According to their Indiegogo page, they "looked around one day and realized, 'All our friends are babes! Let's put them in a calendar with our vegetables, and raise money for our future urban farm.'"

Their "Farmer Tans Calendar" will feature 12 months of women wearing nothing but fruits, vegetables and their farmer tans.

The photos were snapped by a volunteer at the farm who is also a professional photographer, Jess Drawhorn.

"For most of the photos, not only were we completely naked but we were at the farm on a busy street without a lot of personal coverage," Krasniqi (Miss January and November) said. "It resulted in a lot of funny moments because people like to stop by randomly to see if we’re open. We’d be in the tomatoes and someone would say, 'Hello?' So there was a lot of laughter in every single shoot that we did."

Krasniqi said she's already thinking about next year's calendar. "I'm also a massage therapist, so I love bodies and the human figure. I think celebrating that and being able to celebrate it with the other job that I love so much, farming, is awesome." Next year, she says, she wants to do a "work-oriented calendar, so tools, tractors, that kind of aspect." And, of course, naked ladies.

Lenovo has sent out invites to an event on September 30, where the company is widely expected to launch the Vibe Z2 Pro in India.

The invite to "Make way for the Pro" includes an image of the Vibe Z2 Pro's rear panel with a tagline that says, "The Pro awaits you."

Interestingly, the Chinese handset maker has listed the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro on the company's India website - pointing to an official launch soon.

Another smartphone that can be expected to launch alongside the Vibe Z2 Pro is the Lenovo Vibe X2, which was listed on the company's India website on Wednesday. The official listing of the Vibe X2 does point to an imminent launch soon; however, there is no word from Lenovo.
The Vibe Z2 Pro was announced last month with an expected availability of September. The Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro sports a 6-inch Quad-HD (1440x2560 pixel) display, which will be up against the likes of the LG G3 and Oppo Find 7, which also sport QHD displays.

India play China in crucial last game, need draw to progress

Shattered after the close 1-2 loss against arch-rivals Pakistan, Indian men’s hockey team will have to regroup themselves quickly and eye atleast a draw in their last crucial Pool B fixture against China in Incheon on Saturday, to qualify for the semifinals of the 17th Asian Games.

After dishing out an insipid display, both in attack and defence, against Pakistan on Thursday, The Sardar Singh-led side will need to tighten their belt and come up with a much more convincing display against China.

A draw on Saturday would be enough for India to seal their semifinal berth as the second best team from Pool B as they enjoy a better goal difference than the Chinese.

India, thanks to their superior goal difference of plus 17, are lying second in the pool ahead of their crunch game against China which they have to win or draw to ensure their berth in the last four.

But if they manage to qualify, it won’t be easy for India in the semifinals as they clash against hosts and four-time champions South Korea, who will end up in the top spot in Pool A.

The danger of going in with a defensive mind-set to force a draw in the match might just backfire for the Indians which was the reason for chief coach Terry Walsh to say that his wards needed to win the game against China after the defeat against eight-time champions Pakistan.
While the Indian forward-line functioned disjointedly against the skilful Pakistanis with hardly any support from the midfield, besides missing a few gilt-edge chances.

The Indian defence was also panicked whenever the rivals attacked deep into their area.

India hardly produced a defence-splitting pass during the entire duration of the game and failed to stitch together enough number of passes to break through the determined Pakistan defense.

Surprisingly, even the ever dependable Sardar Singh did not have a great match as he was called upon more to bolster the fumbling defence and, as a result, could not control the midfield as he does.

Roving forward Akashdeep Singh and Ramandeep Singh were guilty of not grabbing the chances that came their way which cost India dear.

Even though India are above China in world ranking, it would be a mistake to take them tomorrow and Walsh also warned his wards not to be complacent.

“We have a very big game coming up against China tomorrow and we have to win that match to reach the semifinals. It’s not going to be an easy game as China are a tough team to beat,” said the former Australia forward.

China and India have both come to this stage after winning by big margins against minnows Sri Lanka, back in Asiad fray after 32 years, and Oman and losing to Pakistan.

Sierra Leone Restricts Travel For Over 1 Million To Stop Ebola Spread

Sierra Leone on Thursday took the dramatic step of sealing off districts where more than 1 million people live as it and other West African countries struggle to control the Ebola outbreak that has claimed thousands of lives.

With three new districts under quarantine, about one-third of Sierra Leone's 6 million people are now living in areas where their movements are heavily restricted. In parts of Sierra Leone and in neighboring Liberia where these cordons have been used in this outbreak, food prices have soared, some markets have shut and the delivery of goods has slowed.

"There is a desperate need to step up our response to this dreaded disease," the Sierra Leone government said. "The prognosis is that without additional interventions or changes in community behavior, the numbers will increase exponentially and the situation will rapidly deteriorate."

President Barack Obama warned a meeting at the United Nations on Thursday that the world is not doing enough to stop the outbreak, saying there is "a significant gap between where we are and where we need to be."

The Ebola outbreak, the world's largest ever, has hit Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea hardest and is believed to have sickened more than 6,200 people. Senegal and Nigeria have also had Ebola cases, but it appears the disease has been contained in those countries.
U.S. health officials warn that the number of infected people could explode to 1.4 million by mid-January, adding that the outbreak could peak well below that if efforts to control the outbreak are ramped up.

The outbreak's unprecedented scale and geographic spread have pushed governments to impose severe measures like the cordons, but the disease has continued to overwhelm efforts to contain it.

In an address to Sierra Leone on Wednesday night, President Ernest Bai Koroma put Port Loko, Bombali, and Moyamba districts under isolation with immediate effect, allowing only people delivering essential services to enter and circulate within these areas. The restrictions will remain in place until the chain of transmission is broken, officials said.

In other parts of Sierra Leone, including the capital, Freetown, homes will be put under quarantine when cases are identified, according to a government statement. Security forces surrounded a house in a Freetown slum on Wednesday, quarantining residents inside, after a popular herbalist who lived there died from Ebola. The forces will ensure that no one leaves or enters until it's clear that no one else in the house has been infected.

India at kissing distance of Mars; Indian scientists script history

India Wednesday created space history by becoming the first country in the world to enter Mars' orbit in its debut attempt. A beaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi, wearing a red jacket symbolic of the Red Planet, described it as "achieving the near impossible", congratulated the feat of Indian scientists and called for challenging the next frontier.

India's Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) traversed over 650 million km through deep space for over nine months to successfully reach the planet's orbit. The US, Europe and Russia had failed in their first attempts.

"The spacecraft (Orbiter) successfully entered the Martian orbit at 7.55 a.m. and is located at about 515 km from its surface...," a senior space official told IANS at the mission control centre here.

Radars at the earth stations of NASA at Goldstone in the US, Madrid in Spain, Canberra in Australia and India's own deep space network at Baylalu near Bangalore received the radio signals from the Orbiter, confirming its insertion into the Mars orbit.

Modi, who witnessed the event from an Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) facility in Bangalore, said that the successful Mars mission "must become a base for challenging the next frontier".

The success "will go down as landmark in history", said a visibly delighted Modi.

India's Mars mission is "a shining symbol of what we are capable of as a nation" and we have gone beyond boundaries of human enterprise and imagination, he added.

The 475 kg (dry mass) Orbiter will take 77 hours or 3.2 earth days to rotate around the red planet over the next six months and will study its surface and mineral composition and scan its atmosphere for methane gas in search of life-sustaining elements.

The prime minister said that the MOM was built "indigenously, in a pan-Indian effort".

"With today's spectacular success, ISRO joins an elite group of only three other agencies worldwide to have successfully reached the Red Planet," he added amidst applause.

Modi, who spoke in English and Hindi, said that the "odds were stacked against us".

"Of the 51 missions attempted across the world so far, a mere 21 had succeeded. But we have prevailed...Travelling an incredible distance, of over 650 million or 65 crore km, we have gone beyond boundaries of human enterprise and imagination."
Indians, including those living abroad, were elated and many took to Facebook and Twitter saying "mission accomplished".

#Mangalyaan #MissionMars #proudindian were some of the top trending topics on Twitter and Facebook since Wednesday morning.

The success of the Mars mission has made India join the elite club of the US, Europe and Russia, which reached the second smallest planet of our solar system after initial failures.

The state-run ISRO became the fourth international space agency after National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the US, Russian Federal Space Agency (RFSA) and European Space Agency to have undertaken successful missions to Mars.

India also became the first Asian country to have entered the Mars sphere of influence (gravity) Tuesday, as a similar mission by China failed in 2011.

The success of the mission to Mars will "inspire our scientists to make even greater strides", said President Pranab Mukherjee who described it as a "historic achievement".

The final orbiting exercise began at 4.17 a.m. Wednesday.

After rotating the Orbiter towards Mars at 6.57 a.m., the main engine was ignited at 7.17 a.m. for enabling the spacecraft enter its orbit from the sun orbit, where it cruised for over nine months and 24 days during its voyage to Mars from the Earth.

During the crucial operation, when a solar eclipse occurred on Mars from 7.12 a.m., the main engine started its burn at 7.30 a.m. and lasted for 24 minutes till 7.54 a.m. to swing the spacecraft into the Martian orbit. The speed of the spacecraft was also reduced.

Chloe Grace Moretz Answers “Naughty” Question About Brooklyn Beckham

Chloe Grace Moretz addressed her relationship with Brooklyn Beckham during an appearance on Monday’s “Watch What Happens Live.”

Let’s just say the young actress doesn’t like labels.

When a caller asked Moretz to confirm whether she and Beckham are “more than friends,” she replied, “That’s naughty! That was a naughty question!”

Host Andy Cohen and fellow guest Billy Bush both leaned toward the young star in anticipation of her answer.

“You have a 16-year-old daughter,” she told Bush, “You can ask her these questions, too.”
After stalling for as long as she could, Moretz replied,  “Um, I don’t know. He’s a very good guy. He’s a good person. I enjoy hanging out with him.”

Cohen continued to dig for more, asking Moretz if she wasn’t giving a definitive answer because she didn’t want to define Beckham as a “boyfriend” and “put a label” on their relationship.

“Maybe,” she said with a smile.

But Moretz had no problem gushing about her rumored beau’s mom Victoria Beckham.

“She’s an amazing person,” she said. “I really admire her work ethic. I love her line. As a family, they’re awesome people.”

Jasmine Tridevil Gets Third Boob 'Because I Don't Want To Date Anymore'

A Florida woman spent $20,000 to get a third boob surgically implanted on her chest in a twisted attempt to look less attractive to men.

"I don't want to date anymore," Jasmine Tridevil, 21, said in a recent radio broadcast when asked why she added the extra mammary complete with an artificial nipple and tattoo to resemble an areola.

But she's still proud of the triple nipple.

On her Facebook page, she thanks followers for sharing YouTube videos featuring her swiveling her hips in a tri-cup bikini. She also hired a camera crew to follow her around so she can pitch a reality show to MTV.

She told Real Radio 104.1 that she reached out to more than 50 doctors before one agreed to perform the surgery. The operation involved taking skin tissue from her abdomen, adding a silicon implant and grafting it between her two, natural breasts.
"It was really hard finding someone that would do it too because they’re breaking the code of ethics," she said. "But I got a breast implant and a mini implant to make it look like there’s a nipple poking out."

Tridevil -- a pseudonym -- says her parents aren't fond of the surgery.

Even in carnival sideshows, Tridevil's physique would strike many as out-of-this world.

"You couldn’t have done that in the early 20th century," Marc Hartzman, who literally wrote the book on American Sideshow, told HuffPost Weird News. "That kind of cosmetic surgery wasn’t around. People aren’t born that way, and I haven't even seen any sideshow actors with three breasts that I can recall."

Our own HuffPost UK thinks Tridevil may have taking the idea from Total Recall, a film that made one woman with three breasts famous in 1990. And since Tridevil isn't revealing who her doctor is, the site also casts doubt on the boob's authenticity:

We think you’ll agree [Total Recall's] prosthetics are pretty convincing –- could it be that Tridevil simply followed suit and hasn’t been under the knife after all?

Why didn't Katie be Katona's bridesmaid?

Former model Katie Price was upbeat about being a bridesmaid at Kerry Katona's wedding, but she pulled out last minute because her size eight dress didn't fit her.

Price gave birth to daughter Bunny just five weeks ago and her post-baby body, which she has been flaunting via sensual selfies, became furious after she couldn't squeeze into gown she had been to wear for her friend's D-day, reports dailystar.co.uk.

Price had refused to stand alongside Kerry, and instead attended the wedding as a guest, wearing a black and white jumpsuit.
"Kerry was disappointed, but wasn't going to let it ruin her day. Katie was not even prepared to consider wearing a dress that didn't fit her properly. As soon as she found out, she pulled out of her official role altogether," a source told The Sun newspaper.

Nevertheless, Katona had three bridesmaids - bandmate Liz McClarnon, school friend Karen Belton and Mel B's sister Danielle Brown, by her side.

Katona married George Kay Sep 14 at Totworth Court Hotel, Gloucestershire.

Khoobsurat- Royal pain in the neck :MOVIE REVIEW

    Khubsoorat
    Director: Shashanka Ghosh
    Actors: Sonam Kapoor, Fawad Khan
    Rating: *1/2

It’s one thing for a smart, carefree, sassy kind of girl to enter an uptight sort of household to loosen things up and have fun along the way. That was Rekha in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Khubsoorat. It’s quite another thing altogether when that same chilled out character comes across as a certified imbecile (Sonam Kapoor), perpetually prone to behave like an over-friendly dement, because her Punjabi mom, who she calls by the first name Manju (Kirron Kher), behaves even more demented.

This film is as much a remake of the gentle, warm Khubsoorat (1980) as Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan was a nod to Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s subtly charming Gol Maal (1979). The film is produced by Disney. Most people who have even seen its trailers will liken it more to the American hit, girly, teen franchise The Princess Diaries (2001).
Sonam plays a physiotherapist in the movie. She gets appointed to treat the jobless king of a mythical empire in the desert. Aamir Raza Husain plays this sombre king. Those who’ve grown up savouring the vibrant theatre scene in Delhi will know Hussain as the master director of stellar productions like The Fifty Day War (2000) and The Legend Of Ram (2004). It’s great to see him on the big screen. He looks and behaves every bit a blue-blooded royal, although talking in a decidedly UP accent, which is only mildly strange for an ‘emperor’ from contemporary Rajasthan.

Stranger by far is the Rajput king’s son. Together with the father and the bored mom (Ratna Pathak Shah), this thoroughly serious looking, busy as hell prince dude (Fawad Khan) lives in a massive palace that, by all accounts, appears to be located quite far away from urban civilisation. I suspect he works in the hospitality business, though it’s very hard to tell. Throughout the film and all through his day, all you can see him do is strut around in an astounding range of super-formal designer suits and bandhgalas, walking around all alone, inside his own house, between the drawing room, study or perhaps the restroom. No, seriously, who are these people?
