As we eagerly anticipate Sunday’s Video Music Awards, we find ourselves thinking back on some of the more memorable fashion moments in VMA history. And thankfully, the good people at MTV have taken the time to reenact some of our favorites … with pets.

On Wednesday, two adorable pups decked out in meat regalia and studded leather respectively played out the 2010 incident in which Lady Gaga won the Best Music VMA and asked Cher to take her purse.

Feline Mona, sported a “Boy Toy” belt, channeling Madonna circa 1984 for a spirited rendition of “Like a Virgin” (which, we might add, was a lot better than others we’ve seen).

But the best was yet to come. Today, we’re treated to the 2003 three-way kiss shared by Madonna, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, as a trio of cats gamely acts out the notorious scene.



We bet all of this leaves you with a few questions … such as, how does a cat wear a top hat?

Cat costumer Ada Nieves tells MTV Style:

I made it from scratch. I had to review several ways of making a hat until I finally figured it out. The hat is actually made of cardboard covered with felt, and then covered with the same black fabric as Madonna’s tux. You can actually see machine stitches, as well as the sewing I did by hand.
