  • Stephen Hawking to guest star on 'Big Bang Theory'

LOS ANGELES, March 12 (TheWrap.com) - "The Big Bang Theory" is getting a visit from Stephen Hawking.

The renowned theoretical physicist will guest-star on the April 5 episode of the CBS comedy, the network said Monday. In the cameo, Hawking visits uber-geek Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) at work "to share his beautiful mind with his most ardent admirer," according to CBS.

Executive producer Bill Prady said that having Hawking on the show had long been a goal, though it seemed unattainable.

When people would ask us who a ‘dream guest star' for the show would be, we would always joke and say Stephen Hawking - knowing that it was a long shot of astronomical proportions," Prady said. "In fact, we're not exactly sure how we got him. It's the kind of mystery that could only be understood by, say, a Stephen Hawking."

Irfan Pathan dismissed Upul Tharanga to give Sri Lanka the eighth blow, bringing India close to victory in the Asia Cup clash at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

This came after Vinay Kumar dismissed Nuwan Kulasekara and Chamara Kapugedera in successive deliveries to dent Sri Lanka chase.

Ravichandran Ashwin scalped Kumar Sangakkara and Lahiru Thirimanne to put India on top.

Sangakkara played a patient knock of 65 that came in 87 balls included two fours and a six. Four balls later Ashwin struck to claim his third wicket he caught Thirimanne plumb in front of the wicket.

Irfan Pathan and Ravichandran Ashwin struck to dismiss Mahela Jayawardene and Dinesh Chandimal respectively in the Asia Cup clash against Sri Lanka at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Ashwin claimed in-form Chandimal to take his first wicket and gave India their third wicket. Chandimal could manage to score 13 runs.

Pathan removed dangerous Mahela Jayawardene to get India back into the match after the batsman entertained with his 78 off just 59 balls, smashing 10 boundaries and two huge sixes. Skipper also added 93 runs stand for the second wicket with Kumar Sangakkara to lead Sri Lanka chase.

Pathan ended Jayawardene's flamboyant knock when the batsman tried to run it to third man on a widish delivery that went to MS Dhoni's gloves.

Jayawardene took only 40 deliveries to reach his 66th ODI half-century studded with seven fours and two sixes.

Jon Hamm and Kim Kardashian have the most attractive disagreement in Hollywood

Kim Kardashian might be used to this sort of thing. After all, the ubiquitous reality star has earned her fair share of criticism about everything from her 72-day marriage to her offensively exorbitant lifestyle to her family’s general terribleness. Having already been called a ‘f—ing idiot’ by Daniel Craig, Kim should have suspected that other classy, handsome Hollywood gents might feel the same way. In fact, in an interview with Elle UK Jon Hamm found the same words for her. (And Paris Hilton, for that matter. Remember her, you guys? Guys?)

“Whether it’s Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated,” the Mad Men star told the magazine, adding, “Being a f—ing idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you’re rewarded significantly….It’s celebrated. It doesn’t make sense to me.”

While Jonah Hill would most certainly agree (the Moneyball actor griped to The Huffington Post, “The fact that the Kardashians could be more popular than a show like Mad Men is disgusting”) Kim took offense to the statement. Opting to take the high road — or, in this case Twitter — Kardashian responded, “I just heard about the comment Jon Hamm made about me in an interview. I respect Jon and I am a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that not everyone takes the same path in life. We’re all working hard and we all have to respect one another. Calling someone who runs their own businesses, is a part of a successful TV show, produces, writes, designs, and creates, “stupid,” is in my opinion careless.” READ MORE

Target of 305 runs Sri Lanka, Kohli - Gambhir of the Splendid Century

India set a challenging target of 305 against Sri Lanka after Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir slammed centuries in their opening One-Day International match of the Asia Cup 2012.

Kohli and Gambhir added 205 runs for the second wicket to strengthen India’s position in the game, after Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene opted to field first at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka bowler Suranga Lakmal jolted India early when he had star India batsman Sachin Tendulkar caught by Mahela Jayawardene for six.

Tendulkar faced 19 balls and hit a boundary before being dismissed in the sixth over.

Kohli then joined forces with Gambhir as they solidified Indian innings, batting for the next 37 overs.

Gambhir struck eight boundaries to complete his 10th ODI century, which came off 118 balls.

Kohli too completed his 10th ODI hundred, hitting 108 off 120 balls with the help of seven boundaries.

With this knock, Kohli became the quickest batsman to hit 10 or more ODI hundreds, which came off in 80 innings.

Towards the end, Mahendra Singh Dhoni played a rapid knock of 46 off 26 balls hitting six boundaries and a six to push India past 300.

Suresh Raina remained unbeaten on 30 off 17 balls hitting three boundaries and a six.

Farveez Maharoof was Sri Lanka's most successful bowler bagging two wickets for 57 runs.

    Miley Cyrus Debuts Belly-Baring Dress

Miley Cyrus came out to support her boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, at the 'Hunger Games' world premiere in Los Angeles. The singer arrived in a two-piece red carpet outfit. Recent belly-baring dresses from Rooney Mara and Gwyneth Paltrow prompted comments like "I dream of Jeannie," so no surprise critics are already weighing in on Miley's unconventional choice.

E! Online labeled the Pucci dress "skimpy" and she was called out on Twitter for wearing a glittery bustier and "gypsy skirt," while others are already praising her unconventional choice and saying she "makes it work."

Miley added an unusual touch when it came to jewelry, as well, and wore a bracelet chained to a ring. She completed the look with a very specific shoe choice. "His mom made me wear stilts," Miley explained, saying her boyfriend Liam's mom steered her towards sky-high Christian Louboutin heels. "I'm like five feet, so I need my 'Liam shoes.'"

The couple, who have a foot of height difference between them, walked the black carpet together and appeared closer than ever. Miley even offered up some advice for Liam after spending years in the spotlight, saying she emphasizes staying close to the people who love you for who you truly are.

Miley went on to say the two try to keep the fame out of their relationship, and explained that this will be the first time she sees Liam onscreen as Gale Hawthorne. The 19-year-old added that she was happy to be there to support him for this particular movie, since she knows her boyfriend is very excited about the part. And for the premiere, Miley had a much simpler role in mind: "I just have to be arm candy tonight."

Farming communities facing crisis over nitrate pollution, study says

Nitrate contamination in groundwater from fertilizer and animal manure is severe and getting worse for hundreds of thousands of residents in California’s Central Valley farming communities, according to a study released Tuesday by researchers at the University of California, Davis.

Nearly 10 percent of the 2.6 million people living in the Tulare Lake Basin and Salinas Valley might be drinking nitrate-contaminated water, researchers found. And if nothing is done to stem the problem, the report warns, nearly 80 percent of residents could be at risk of health and financial problems by 2050.

High nitrate levels in drinking water are known to cause thyroid cancer, skin rashes, hair loss, birth defects and “blue baby syndrome,” a potentially fatal blood disorder in infants.
The report is the most comprehensive assessment so far of nitrate contamination in California’s agricultural areas.

“The problem is much, much, much worse than we thought,” said Angela Schroeter, agricultural regulatory program manager for the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board, a state water agency.
Nitrate-contaminated water is a well-documented fact in many of California’s farming communities.
The agricultural industry, however, has maintained that it is not solely responsible because nitrates come from many sources. While the report focused on California, nitrates in groundwater is a problem that plagues farming communities around the U.S.
But, according to the UC Davis report, 96 percent of nitrate contamination comes from agriculture, while only 4 percent can be traced to water treatment plants, septic systems, food processing, landscaping and other sources.

Obama And Hollywood: Democrats Still Giving To Obama, But Not To Super PACs

Looks like Barack Obama's star power hasn't dimmed after all.

In 2008, Hollywood insiders donated $9.2 million to the presidential hopeful's campaign. This year, despite much talk of softening support among entertainment professionals, they are expected to contribute even more.

According to Michael Janofksy of TheWrap, Tom Hanks, George Clooney, Alec Baldwin and many other major figures have already maxed out their $5,000 personal contribution limits.

The trouble, for Obama, is that many in Hollywood do not want to dirty their hands with contributions to Super PACs, the controversial new groups that can accept unlimited donations as long as they don't direct their funds to a single candidate. Many Democrats have criticized Super PACs for giving wealthy donors outsize influence over the political process -- and if there's one thing Hollywood heavyweights understand, it's the power of bad publicity.

Jeffrey Katzenberg and Stephen Bing have waded into the Super PAC waters, but other big names are opting instead to bundle donations to the Obama campaign itself. The Wrap cites statistics gathered by the Center for Responsive Politics (often referred to as Open Secrets), which values producer Harvey Weinstein's bundle at $688,026 and agent Ari Emanuel's at $447,290.

Over the past year, reports of declining overall donations to Democrats (a $2.5 million decrease year over year at the end of 2011) and sharp criticism of the President from the likes of Matt Damon have created the impression that Obama was losing his hold on Hollywood.

The Obama campaign responded by sending a former ambassador to Los Angeles to set up a series of high-profile fundraisers.

TheWrap notes that Obama's latest fundraising trip was meant to raise $3 million and ended up bringing in $4 million. The dinners, hosted at the home of soap opera producer Bradley Bell, featured celebrity hosts, including Will Ferrell and his wife, Viveca Paulin. Tickets were priced at $35,800 each.

Meryl Streep As Hilary Clinton: Should The 'Iron Lady' Actress Play The Secretary Of State?

Meryl Streep is fresh off her Oscar win for playing Margaret Thatcher. But she had an entire theater at Lincoln Center wondering if an even better role for her would be a political icon closer to home: Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The question arose as Streep paid a glowing and affectionate tribute to the secretary of state at the Women in the World summit, an annual gathering of prominent women leaders and unsung heroines from across the globe that closed over the weekend.

"This is what you get when you play a world leader," Streep said Saturday, hoisting up her best-actress Oscar for "The Iron Lady."

"But if you want a real world leader," Streep continued, "THIS is what you get!" Clinton strolled onstage at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts' David H. Koch Theater, and Streep enveloped her in a hug.

The three-day summit, now in its third year, is organized by Tina Brown, editor in chief of Newsweek and The Daily Beast. Besides Streep and Clinton, feminist icon Gloria Steinem and former secretary of state Madeleine Albright, Brown harnessed the star power of Angelina Jolie, who came to read the words of Dr. Hawa Abdi, a Somali humanitarian facing danger from Islamist rebels there.

Also given star treatment was International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde, who delighted the delegates at dinner Thursday when she suggested that the financial crisis might have been averted, or at least been much less serious, if more women had been at the helm of financial institutions.

"If Lehman Brothers had been a bit more Lehman Sisters ... we would not have had the degree of tragedy that we had as a result of what happened," Lagarde said.

She added that recent studies have shown "what the level of testosterone in a given room can produce when you do trading."

Many global problems were addressed by the dozens of panels attended by some 2,000 delegates each day. But a constant undercurrent was an issue at home: the debate in Washington over women's reproductive health care.

Clinton and other speakers referred, obliquely and not, to conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh's insulting remarks about law student Sandra Fluke, who came under attack after she testified to congressional Democrats in support of their national health care policy that would compel her Catholic college's health insurance plan to cover birth control.

The 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winner Leymah Gbowee, of Liberia, was the most blunt, saying women had been too passive: "Where are the angry American women?" she asked.

From Liberia to Egypt: Panelists discussed whether the Arab Spring risked becoming an Arab Winter for women, who were central to the popular uprising but now fear being marginalized. READ MORE

Breast-Crazed Hacker Steals Naked Phone Photos of Christina Hendricks and Olivia Munn Glee Star

The images—grainy and certainly phone-birthed—range from salacious to full on bare-breasted, and appear to have been taken on both a phone and webcam. Hendricks' people deny on the fully nude shot. Munn, on the other hand? Who knows! Does she have a publicity rep, or do her creepy nerd fanboys speak for her through Reddit? We're awaiting a statement. We do know that her pics—allegedly intended for a boyfriend at the time—date back to 2009, and were taken on two different BlackBerries, judging by EXIF data stored inside the images.
The shots appear to have been taken with an iPhone 3GS, based on EXIF data, and thanks to our modern era of embedded GPS, we know at least one of the racy pics was taken directly inside Paramount's studios.

    Full size
But the lesson here remains the same. As we said when this happened to ScarJo: If You Are Famous and Take Nude Photos of Yourself, They Will End Up on the Internet. As impossibly good looking people, pictures of your impossibly attractive body are coveted by legions of Internet People who want to look at them briefly, email them around, grin, high five, and then go back to work. And there are a select few with the guile to yank those photos off your phone—where they are certainly not safe:

Once directed to the malicious site, the phone's web browser and operating system can be silently compromised. Imagine something like jailbreakme.com, which swiftly frees your iPhone of Apple's customization restrictions. Except instead of inviting a program into your phone to help you free it from Apple's beautiful bondage, you've actually invited in a Trojan horse filled with horribleness. A maliciously crafted file creeping from the site to your phone could add code to your phone's web browser and operating system. That code could persuade it to do things it usually wouldn't want to do, like shipping out photos to unintended recipients.

More likely, though-and more applicable to you and me-security experts suspect that someone broke into an online service that stored the pictures, not the phone itself. (In other words, no Swordfish antics here. Your BlackBerrys and iPhones are safe!) If she emailed the pics to the person she intended to please, or used a photo syncing service to send her photos to the cloud for sharing, a simple compromised password or a lame security question is all it took to give the hacker entry.

So, yes, here they are. Enjoy, be outraged, hide your child's eyes. But whatever you do, do this:
