Gold rate today: Yellow metal at Rs 25,540 up Rs 298 from its previous close
The October contract on the Multi Commodity Exchange of India was at Rs 25,540, up Rs 298 from its previous close.
In morning benchmark gold futures extended gains by more than 3 per cent and hit a new peak of Rs 26,198 per 10 grams, tailing a rally in the world market and on a weak rupee. It has risen over 11 percent in August.
Rupee fell sharply to its lowest in 10 weeks as a selloff in global equities ignited fears of foreign fund outflows.
International spot gold gained more than 2 percent on Tuesday, roaring to all-time highs for a second consecutive session to stand above $1,750 as equity markets dived on growing fears of a global recession following last week's US credit downgrade.
Asian shares tumbled on Tuesday as investors scrambled to adjust to a rapid downgrade in the outlook for US and global economic growth, but later staged a sharp rebound from early lows, helping cushion expected losses in Europe.
US S&P 500 index futures pulled back sharply from earlier lows and crept into positive territory, while European index futures also pared early losses and were trading down around 0.5 percent.

‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadephia’: Fat Mac Explains Weight Gain At TCA Tour
‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadephia’: Fat Mac Explains Weight Gain At TCA Tour: "
“It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” has broken a lot of television rules over the years, with its assault on societal mores, racial boundaries and religious taboos. Like a demented, extreme Seinfeld, its stars are all fundamentally selfish, and, in pushing past its bourgeois New Yorker predecessor, are inherently unlikable to a a prude stranger to masochism.
Now, the next frontier: getting fat.
Series co-creator Rob McElhenney, who stars as the self-absorbed, very vain Mac on the show, gained 50 pounds for the upcoming season, creating a juicy storyline which sees his character try to deal with the sudden onset of obesity. But his intention wasn’t just to nail some easy fat jokes; at the Television Critics Association tour over the weekend, McElhenney said he was trying to make a statement with his expanded waistline.
“It came when I was watching a very popular sitcom, and I noticed the people were getting better and better looking as the seasons were going on,” McElhenney said (via TV Guide). “I always thought that what we were trying to do on Sunny was the deconstruction of the sitcom.”
To get there, McElhenney said that he ate 5,000 calories a day; he has since lost 20-25 pounds, but is still a far ways from his old weight.
Its a similar sentiment to one he gave to Collider in July, and part of a larger theme for the show. Operating on a tight budget, the crew, which also includes Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton and Katilin Olson, tried to bring the sitcom back to its basics.
“Our philosophy from the very beginning is when you’re making a situation comedy that it really is just a group of people sitting in a room talking to each other,” McElhenney (via The Hollywood Reporter). “We thought, ‘Well, let’s just figure out a way to do that as cheap as possible… we just wanted to break it down to its basics.”

orge Posada Benched: Yankees Catcher Says ‘It’s Very Disappointing’
Slumping Jorge Posada was pulled from the New York Yankees’ lineup Sunday night against Boston and manager Joe Girardi suggested the five-time All-Star might be on the bench for a while.
“We’re going to see how this works,” Girardi said.
A former catcher, the 39-year-old Posada has been the Yankees’ primary designated hitter this year against right-handed starters. But Girardi had Eric Chavez as the DH against Red Sox righty Josh Beckett.
“It’s very disappointing. You want to be out there,” Posada said. “But right now it’s about winning ballgames. He told me he wants to put the best lineup out there.”
Posada is just 3 for 18 this month and is hitting only .230 overall with nine homers and 31 RBIs. Chavez, who was activated from the 60-day disabled list on July 26, is batting .323.
Said Girardi: “We think Jorge’s going to be a big part of the team. He was disappointed. You could see it.”
It’s not the first time that Posada’s lack of production has affected his spot.
In June, Posada asked out of the lineup when he was dropped to ninth in the order in a game against Boston in New York. Posada apologized the next day.
“He’s just struggled to find a way to get his hits,” Girardi said. “It’s just been a tough year for him. … Jorgie and I have a relationship. That has gone a long way.”

How to Make a Wi Fi Booster Using Only a Beer Can
How to Make a Wi Fi Booster Using Only a Beer Can: "Not only is this clever use of a beer can an ultra cheap tech hack, it also means less fiddling around with cardboard and aluminum foil as required by other hack methods. This method has been proven to improve Wi-Fi reception from around 2 bars to about 4 on average, varying between 3 and 5. Give it a go – all you've got to waste is a beer can!
Edit Steps
- Gather the required materials and tools. These are listed below under 'Things You'll Need'.
- Clean the beer can. Make sure there is no residue left inside.
- Take the ring-pull off the can.
- Cut the end off the beer can where there's no opening. Do this using the Stanley knife or similar suitable safety knife.
- Cut around the end with the opening almost all the way. Leave a little bit of metal to keep attached the part that will be the base (see the white line in the illustration).
- Cut along the middle of the can in a straight line, opposite to the piece of metal attaching the base.
- Being careful, open up the middle piece of metal by bending it until it vaguely resembles the shape of a radar dish.
- Place the completed Wi-Fi booster on your router. Place it so that the antenna pokes through the opening, and stick the base of the can to the router with a small piece of poster tack or other suitable adhesive. It's time to test how much your Wi-Fi is now boosted!

Real Wedding of the Week: Anna and Chris in Audubon, PA
Photos: Lorraine Daley Wedding Photography and Allure West Studios
Anna and Chris met in Chicago in 2007—they were teammates on a co-ed softball team and the couple became engaged in the fall of 2009. "Chris slipped a ring on my finger while I was sleeping," says Anna. "When I woke up, he was on one knee, asking me to check my finger." For their wedding day, she chose a silk organza gown with a sequined bow by Cymbeline, purchased at the salon in New York City. "It was the first dress that felt like 'me,'" Anna says. She made her hair accessory using netting and a vintage pin. Following the ceremony, cocktail hour was held in the nineteenth-century fieldstone barn. Guests enjoyed bluegrass music by Noggin Hill and sipped spiked Arnold Palmers—the couple's signature cocktail—in old-fashioned mason jars. We’ve seen our fair share of weird and creepy iPhone accessories, but this one might reach a new height. Coming from Japan, let me introduce you to the Hand Case.
We don’t know much about this case. I can’t tell you where you can get it or how much it costs, but that shouldn’t be too much of an issue as I doubt you’d be interested in buying it anyway… (...)
