Paula Deen details how she lost 30 lb. in six months

Deen on the July 9 cover of PeopleKnown for her high-calorie creations, Paula Deen was widely criticized earlier this year when she revealed that she has type 2 diabetes — and had been diagnosed with the disease three years earlier. Around the same time the Southern chef went public with her health crisis, she also landed an endorsement deal for a diabetes drug, so there was backlash about her motivation for speaking out in the first place. Six months later, Deen — who completely overhauled her diet — has dropped 30 pounds and is talking about how she lost the weight.

"I was surprised by the depth of hate," Deen, 65, said about the backlash to People. "This is not something I chose. I had been given lemons and I had to try to make lemonade — without sugar!"

Since January, the 5-foot-6 foodie has lost more than 30 pounds and has gone from a size 18 to a 10. "The architecture of my plate has changed," said Deen, who has daily injections to regulate her blood sugar. "I double up on greens — whether it's salad or vegetables — and my carbs are just a spoonful." Her shopping cart is now overflowing with broccoli, sweet potatoes, and fruit instead of regular potatoes (her weakness) and bread. Where she used to skip breakfast, she now has a smoothie. And a typical dessert for Deen is "a bowl of sugar-free ice cream with strawberries and blueberries on top."

Deen says incorporating exercise into her routine has been another factor in her weight loss. She walks 30 minutes a day but doesn't love it. "I heard that exercise is addictive," she said to People. "So far, it's not like cigarettes." Speaking of cigarettes, she still smokes but says quitting will be her next challenge.

Although her goal is to lose an additional 15 pounds, Deen already feels like a million bucks. "I feel a thousand times better," Deen told the magazine. "I have more energy. I sleep better. The weight loss has made my health issues better."

John Roberts saves Obamacare: How does George W. Bush feel right now?

In his White House memoir, “Courage and Consequence,” Karl Rove recalls being the lone non-lawyer among the group of George W. Bush aides who initially interviewed John Roberts for the Supreme Court in 2005. Rove asked Roberts to go back in history to name the justice whom he most revered. Roberts’ answer, Robert Jackson, intrigued and reassured Rove. When appointed in 1941, Jackson was serving as Franklin Roosevelt’s attorney general and had been expected to be a pro-New Deal rubber-stamp on the court. But, as Rove put it, Jackson “instead demonstrated a fidelity to the Constitution that Roberts admired.”

Thursday, in a jaw-dropping turnabout worthy of Justice Jackson, Roberts provided the swing vote in a 5-to-4 decision that upheld the constitutionality of almost all of Obamacare, the president’s signature legislative achievement. While an army of armchair court watchers expected Justice Anthony Kennedy to determine the fate of the Affordable Care Act (a recent Time cover called him “The Decider”), it was Roberts who took his fidelity to the Constitution in an ideologically surprising direction. Kennedy voted with three other conservative justices to overturn the health insurance mandate at the heart of the law.

Constitutional law seminars and unlicensed political psychologists will spend years speculating about Roberts’ motivations in joining the liberal bloc in probably the most important Supreme Court decision since Bush v. Gore in 2000. While we may wait decades to know for certain, it does seem plausible that Roberts may have been partly triggered by a desire to prevent the court from being seen as overtly political. Polls showing public respect for the Supreme Court at a quarter-century low reflect the growing view that the justices pursue partisan agendas.

One of the most important passages in Roberts’ majority decision was the chief justice’s assertion: “We do not consider whether the act embodied sound policies. That judgment is entrusted to the Nation’s elected leaders. We ask only whether Congress has the power under the Constitution to enact the challenge provisions.”

In short, if you want a national referendum on the health-care law, then the proper arena is the 2012 campaign—and not the inner sanctums of the Supreme Court.

The majority opinion in the health care case points up the inadequacy of the political clichés used in the heat of an election year to describe the Supreme Court. Phrases like “strict constructionist” and “not making law from the bench” do not clarify complex Supreme Court opinions like Thursday’s ruling. Romney’s campaign website declares, “As president, Mitt will nominate judges in the mold of Chief Justice Roberts and Justices Scalia, Thomas and Alito.” There’s only one problem with this formulation: Roberts went in one direction and Scalia, Thomas and Alito went in the opposite on the constitutionality of the health care bill.

Zach Galifianakis Engaged: Actor Engaged To Quinn Lundberg

Zach Galifianakis and longtime girlfriend Quinn Lundberg are engaged!

Celebuzz reports that the soon-to-be-newlyweds (with equally consonant-heavy names) are set to be married August 11, according to invitations the couple sent out to friends and family.

The "Hangover" actor, 42, and former ballerina, 29, are forgoing any Vegas-sized shenanigans, however, at least when it comes to the gifting: The couple asked for donations to Growing Voices, an online forum supporting community-based projects co-founded by Lundberg. The couple divide their time between Brooklyn and North Carolina, Galifianakis' home state.

Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ Girlfriend Ola Ray Grateful For Opportunity

On Monday, it will be three years to the day that the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, died at the age of 50.

Ola Ray, the female lead in his iconic 1983 "Thriller" video, still can't forget the experience of working with him.

Ray -- now 51 and living in Sacramento, Calif., with her teenage daughter -- landed the gig after Flashdance actress Jennifer Beals turned it down. She almost didn't get it after video director John Landis learned she had posed in a 1980 Playboy centerfold. But Jackson didn't seem to mind her racy past. "He seemed taken by the fact that I was a Playboy model," Ray told the Sunday Mirror.

The 13-minute horror short -- which the Guinness Book of World Records calls the most successful music video of all time, selling more than 9 million copies -- depicts the two on a date. It takes a very dark turn when the singer transforms into a werewolf.

From day one, Ray said she and Jackson had chemistry.

Ola Ray on ABC News."When we did the dancing, when he had to walk around me and flirt with me … That was when I was like 'Oh my God, like Ola, I could not believe I was the girl, I was the one chosen,'" she told ABC News in a 2010 interview.

Jackson was playful off-camera as well.

"He kept saying, 'I can't wait until I do the werewolf scenes so I can chase you,'" she told author Mark Bego for his book On The Road With Michael.

Though the two flirted and shared some private time in his trailer on the set, she said they were never intimate because Jackson had eyes for someone else.

Ola Ray in "Playboy.""We had a working relationship, it was nothing other than that," she told ABC News. "He was into Brooke Shields."

She and Jackson remained friends after making the video. Jackson even flew her to Germany to accept an award for "Thriller" — which she later got to keep.

Bipasha Will Be A Good Wife: Madhavan?

Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu will make a good wife, feels her "Jodi Breakers" co-star R. Madhavan. "Whoever she will marry, she will keep him very happy," Madhavan told reporters here. The 33-year-old actress dated model-turned-actor John Abraham for eight years before calling it quits last year.

Ever since, Bipasha has been linked to actors like Rana Daggubati, Shahid Kapoor and her "Singularity" co-star Josh Hartnett. Madhavan is impressed with the lady. "I feel Bipasha is a wonderful person. I don't think I have ever worked with such a wonderful co-star till date," he said.

Romantic comedy "Jodi Breakers", directed by Ashwini Chaudhary, is a story of two individuals who break others' relationships but end up falling in love with each other. While everyone is talking about this unusual pairing, Madhavan seems confident about their chemistry. "I believe Bipasha and I share a very good chemistry on screen."The movie will release Feb 24. It also features Omi Vaidya, Milind Soman and Dipannita Sharma.

Veena Malik Fake Posing Nude for FHM Magazine ?

Malik is suing FHM for millions of dollars, accusing it of publishing photos she says were doctorede, her lawyer said. FHM editor Kabeer Sharma says they have received the legal notice. “The allegations are entirely false and we are investigating various options, including a countersuit,” he said.

Not only did Pakistani actress Veena Malik pose nude on the cover of the Indian edition of men’s magazine FHM, but she did it sporting “ISI” on her arm, the initials of Pakistan’s spy agency.

(FHM) BBC reports that the cover has caused quite the sensation in Pakistan, where local media are quoting a spokesman for Malik as saying she never participated in the shoot. The editor of FHM India, however, says nothing was doctored. “We have video footage of the shoot as well as e-mails from Veena about how she’s looking forward to the cover,” Kabeer Sharma told the BBC.

The controversy comes on the heels of a tense week for Pakistan, in which NATO airstrikes killed 24 Pakistani soldiers, an incident Sen. John McCain (R.-Ariz.) blamed on ISI, which he said was actively supporting terorrist organizations. Senior officials in recent months have repeatedly accused ISI of supporting militants based in Pakistan’s tribal areas. Pakistan has denied such allegations.

Sharma says having ISI written on Malik’s arm was just intended as a joke. “In India we joke about this . . . if anything goes wrong . . . we say the ISI must be behind this.”

But Pakistan’s media aren’t finding it funny, with the Express Tribune staunchly declaring that the “viral photo is fake.”

Malik has stirred up controversy before. In 2010, she outraged conservatives for appearing on Indian reality show “Bigg Boss,” a show similar to “Big Brother.” In March of this year, she challenged a Pakistani cleric on television.

“The soon to be b'day girl in the b'day suit,” Sherlyn Chopra wrote on Twitter and posted a raunchy photo. She received both positive and negative respond from people on Twitter, but she accepted every feedback very calmly.

“You can talk all u want. But my skin is very thick.I'm the leader of the crowd and my game is really sleek. I'm unstoppable!” she wrote and later posted more images.

    Top kissing scenes from Bollywood

Those olden days have vanished where hero and heroine represented as two beautiful red roses were rubbing against each other in order to make audiences understand a kissing scene. These days a kissing scene that is genuine and real is becoming a mandate and nothing is as sexy as compiling a list of top five kissing scenes from the grand movies of Bollywood.

    Madhuri & Vinod Khanna
    Dayanvan
    1.

The number 1 kissing scene that was quite hot was shared compassionately by young and beautiful Madhuri and Vinod Khanna who was much senior looking in the movie `Dayawan'. It was truly sensual where Madhuri played the role of a prostitute and Vinod Khanna was a gangster who was newly coming up. `Dayawan' is still today remembered by many people for this kissing scene between the lead pairs which was considered as super sexy.
    Karishma Kapoor and Aamir Khan
    Raja Hindustani
    2.

The number 2 kissing scene that was super hot was the one performed excellently by Karishma Kapoor and Aamir Khan in the movie `Raja Hindustani' which was one of the superhit movies of Bollywood. Aamir Khan is a perfectionist in all his features and even in this kissing scene, Aamir had shared an optimal chemistry with his lead heroine Karishma Kapoor.
    Rani Mukherjee and Kamal Hassan
    Hey Ram
    3.

The number 3 enigmatic kissing scene amongst top five kissing scene of Bollywood is undoubtedly by greater actor as well as kisser Kamal Hassan. In movie `Hey! Ram' he kissed the magnificent Rani Mukherjee. This kissing scene was sensuous and cannot be forgotten by viewers. Kamal Hassan has tried to play intimate scenes with many top heroines of Bollywood cinema and the outcome has always proved to be an exotic for viewers.
    Zeenat Aman and Shashi Kapoor
    Satyan Shivam Sundaram
    4.

The number 4 kissing scene was the one that was shared by ravishing Zeenat Aman and ever charming actor of Indian Cinema, Shashi Kapoor. They shared a lovely lip lock in the movie that was truly sensational. It was inevitably a rocking kiss in the grand movie of Hindi cinema, `Satyam Shivam Sundaram'.
    Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff
    Vardi
    5.

The number 5 kissing scene of Bollywood goes to sexy act which was elegantly performed by Madhuri Dixit and handsome looking Jackie Shroff. This kissing scene was performed in the movie `Vardi' which was an emotional one.
It is even quite interesting to explore few of the kissing scenes in the Bollywood cinema where it does not stand in the top five lists. This was a kissing scene shared by Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan in the movie `Salaam Namaste'. However, it may be because the kiss was quite urbanized to be listed in the top five kissing scenes of Bollywood. The other kissing scene is Indian cinema which could not be enlisted is the one shared by Bipasha Basu and her beau John Abraham in the film `Jism'. This kissing scene was also not much effective to be enlisted in the list of top 5 kisses of Indian cinema. Emraan Hashmi though denoted as serial kisser but his kissing scene which he shared with Mallika Sherawat in many of their movies cannot be enlisted since it did not at all magnified a natural scene of kissing according to the critics.

Aamir Khan wants Dhoom 3 to have a Superstar Rajnikanth touch!

More than a superstar, Rajinikanth is an enigma. His popularity is not limited to South India or India only but finds a place in overseas as well. No wonder that everyone aspires to be like him. Such is his craze that Shahrukh Khan felt obliged to have a small scene dedicated to Rajinikanth’s Robot character Chitti in Ra.One. Now it is Aamir Khan’s turn to do the same. Apparently, the actor is very eager to have Rajinikanth in Dhoom 3.

According to a source, Aamir is aware the kind of fan following Rajinikanth commands. There are people who swear by his films. His fame has reached overseas as well. Moreover, the superstar’s onscreen presence is unlike anyone else. His mannerisms and attitude have impressed many. Hence, Aamir is very keen to work alongside him in Dhoom 3. Aamir is believed to be a self proclaimed Rajinikanth fan and wants to work with him like his contemporaries namely Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan.

Well, if Rajinikanth gives his nod to Aamir’s desire, Dhoom 3 will become a supernatural movie without having any superhero. After all, it will have the Rajni touch. Jokes apart, we think besides Aamir and the film, this will also fulfil Katrina Kaif’s dream of starring with Rajinikanth after losing out Kochadaiyaan to Deepika Padukone. Fingers crossed!

Kabul Hotel Siege: Taliban Attack At Spozhmai Hotel Ends, Afghan Police Say

Thirteen people were killed before a long siege was ended at a popular hotel outside the Afghan capital, during which Taliban gunmen took scores of hostages, another bold attack that showed a potent insurgency remains after more than a decade of war.

Five militants armed with rocket-propelled grenades, suicide bomb vests a nd machine guns attacked the exclusive, lakeside hotel around midnight on Thursday, bursting into a party and shooting dead hotel guards.

Kabul police chief Ayoub Salangi said on Friday four civilians, three hotel guards and a policeman were killed in the 12-hour gunbattle at the Spozhmai hotel, overlooking Qargha Lake. All five attackers were also killed.

The attack, quickly claimed by the Afghan Taliban, again showed the ability of insurgents to stage high-profile raids even as NATO nations prepare to withdraw most of their combat troops by the end of 2014 and leave Afghans to lead the fight.

Many terrified guests jumped into the lake in the darkness to escape the carnage, Afghan officials and residents said. Up to 300 people had been inside the hotel when the attack began.

"Insurgent Taliban were using civilians as human shields to protect themselves, and even this morning around 50 locals were still held as hostages," Sediq Sediqqi, a spokesman for the Afghan Interior Ministry, told reporters.

Earlier, elite Afghan quick-response police backed by NATO troops freed at least 35 hostages in an operation that only began in earnest after sunrise to help security forces avoid civilian deaths in night-time confusion.

NATO attack helicopters could be seen over the single-storey hotel building and a balcony popular with guests for its sunset views, while a pall of smoke rose into air.

The Taliban complained wealthy Afghans and foreigners used the hotel, about 10 km (6 miles) from the centre of Kabul, for "prostitution" and "wild parties" ahead of the Friday religious day holiday.

Launching their annual offensive this spring, the Taliban threatened to attack more government officials and rich Afghans, but the hotel assault was one of few in which multiple hostages were taken since the start of the war, now in its 11th year.

"This is a crime against humanity because they targeted children, women and civilians picnicking at the lake. There wasn't even a single soldier around there," said General Mohammad Zahir, head of the Kabul police investigation unit.

Television pictures showed several people wading out of the lake onto a balcony and clambering over a wall to safety.

Sex After Baby: One-Third Of Swedish Parents Have Had Sex While Infant Is In Their Bed

Swedish moms are already known to benefit from living in a country with universal healthcare and outstanding maternity leave policies. Now, it appears they also have more sex. Mothers living in the "land of the midnight sun" may have even found a solution to age-old questions American parents are still asking: Where and when do you have sex once kids are in the house?

Their answer? The Local reports that, according to a survey done by the Swedish magazine "mama,” one-third of Swedish parents have sex while their infants are asleep in the same bed.

    Yes, you read that right.

And, as poll after poll reveals U.S. parents as having generally unsatisfactory sex lives, Swedish moms have fewer complaints. The Swedes agree that everyday life sometimes stands in the way of "fulfilling their sex dreams," yet they seem to be more sexually active than their American counterparts. Of the over 600 Swedish moms surveyed, 48 percent have sex once or twice a week (4 percent said daily, the rest varied greatly). In comparison, 40 percent of American parents, cited in a different survey, said that sex was so rare, they might as well be sleeping in separate beds.

The usual excuses are, We’re too tired, The kids are always around, and, of course, There just isn’t time. When HuffPost blogger Jenny Isenman took women's and parenting magazines to task for running so many "hot sex life" tips for moms, she joked, "Whoever writes those stories somehow has more than 24 hours in her day." And writer Liz Ryan says she's had such a difficult time finding time and privacy for sex with her husband that they choose to pay $100 for a hotel room just to have an hour to themselves.

Of course, Walsh only had to get creative like this once her kids were old enough to know what goes on behind closed doors. With babies in the house, moms may be exhausted, but 59% of U.S. parents admitted to doing it while an infant was in the room. Still, having sex while bed-sharing is a much more shocking concept to Americans.

American actress and attachment parent Mayim Bialik advocates co-sleeping and says that one of the questions she gets asked the most is how she is able to be intimate with her husband. Bialik says they simply don't use the bed for sex. “We can be intimate in any other room of the house,” she explained in her book.

Choosing to be intimate while babies are in the bed doesn't necessarily mean Swedish parents are "freakier” or even more desperate to get it on. Co-sleeping is just much more widely accepted there. "Swedish children often co-sleep with both their parents until school age,” a 2005 study concluded. In contrast, bed-sharing is controversial in the States -- a large number of American co-sleeping parents go so far as to hide their choice which makes any data on how common the practice is likely to be inaccurate.

It's not all roses and romance for the Swedes, though. The new survey revealed that Swedish parents do have complaints about their sex lives -- having a baby in the bed isn't exactly preferred. Most participants said they wish they could have more -- and better -- sex. In a perfect world, one 32-year-old mother of two revealed her fantasy, "New positions and not just quickies. And in more exciting places like outside.”

Easy Tricks to Feel Fabulous This Summer

It's that time again! Take out your teeny weenie yellow polka-dot bikini and catch some sun by the pool.

Although summer brings warm weather and beach days, it may also lead to fad dieting and unhealthy habits. If you're like most women, you'll try anything to de-bloat and slim down. Don't be fooled by quick fixes that are temporary and leave you feeling dissatisfied. Soon, cravings consume the mind, and one binge later you're back to hiding in a sarong. Not this year! My easy tips are proven to help you lose weight while eating all of your favorite foods. These easy "no diet" tips will help boost your confidence so you feel firmer, more energized, and ready to hit the beach!

    • Drink enough water. Although research varies on the subject, men and women need about two liters per day.

    • Downsize plates so eating is a visual experience. Portion your meals and sit down to really enjoy the flavor.

    • Try new things and make sure to have a diet full of variety. Visit a local farmer's market to check out the treats of the season -- there is always a new fruit or vegetable to sample.

    • Eat quality foods and fewer processed snacks, meals, and drinks.

    • Watch your salt intake. Eating excessive salt can lead to weight gain.

    • Also watch your sugar intake, as most people indulge their sweet tooth too frequently.

    • Get enough electrolytes in your diet. Boost your potassium! Foods rich in this nutrient include bananas, potatoes, and dried apricots. Other low-calorie, high-potassium foods include carrots, peppers, and brussel sprouts. Increase your levels of magnesium! This electrolyte is involved in more than 300 essential metabolic reactions and plays an important role in energy production, specifically ATP.

    • Consume more calcium. Calcium-rich foods include milk, yogurt, spinach, kale, and sesame seeds. Calcium supports nerve and muscle functions, which is critical to keeping your body on the weight loss track. Also, getting enough vitamin D in your diet from fatty fish, mushrooms, eggs, and meat may lead to a greater weight loss.

    • Eat enough protein. Protein-rich foods contain valuable amino acids that are linked with weight loss, increased energy, and lower fat levels.

    • Make time for breakfast. It is still the most important meal of the day. It fuels your morning and kickstarts your metabolism.

    • Sleep more. Sleep deprivation can lead to fatigue, clumsiness, and weight gain. Getting enough sleep is crucial to proper cognitive function as well as controlling hunger.

    • Find ways to deal with stress. When we feel that we've lost control of events, we tend to overeat and use food as an outlet to our problems.

    • Make time for relaxation. Stress less, enjoy living, and you will see a change in your body.

    • Adding simple exercises such as walking and yoga will help burn calories and calm your senses.

Lara Croft's 'Tomb Raider' Reboot Origin Story Misses The Mark

When I hear the name Lara Croft, I think "badass." The (virtual) woman is a brilliant archaeologist, she can jump into hand-to-hand combat matches with the best of them, she carries her gun in a garter holster and Angelina Jolie played her in a movie. In my opinion, the girl doesn't really need any help from anyone. Apparently, the heads behind "Tomb Raider" -- the video game -- beg to differ. A revamped Lara Croft is on her way, and this heroine needs a protector.

Kotaku's Jason Schreier spoke with "Tomb Raider" executive producer Ron Rosenberg about the "Tomb Raider" reboot, which is going to be a prequel of sorts to previous "Tomb Raider" games, at this month's Electronic Entertainment Expo. When Schreier asked about the difficulties of developing a female lead character, Rosenberg said:

"When people play Lara, they don't really project themselves into the character. They're more like, 'I want to protect her.' There's this sort of dynamic of 'I'm going to adventure with her and trying to protect her.'"

And according to Schreier, the way the producers plan to make gamers harness these protective instincts is to make Croft suffer through her friend getting kidnapped, being taken prisoner by "island scavengers" ... and an attempted rape. (The studio has since issued a statement saying that the scene in question has been "incorrectly referred to" as attempted sexual assault, but I agree with Salon's Mary Elizabeth Williams that "there's an unmistakable sense of sexual menace in the scene." Click here to view the clip.) Some human suffering is par for the course when it comes to heroes' "how they became how they are" narratives (one classic example is Spider-Man losing his Uncle Ben). However, do kickass female characters really need to endure attempted sexual violence to be sympathetic?

Less-than-empowering representations of women in video games are nothing new. A 1998 study of violence and gender roles in video games found that 41 percent of games with characters in them didn't include women at all. Of the ones that did feature female characters, 28 percent presented them predominantly as sex objects and 21 percent featured violence specifically directed at women. More recently, culture critic Anita Sarkeesian launched a project called "Tropes vs. Women," which examines the stereotypical roles that women play in video games. She focuses on major archetypes including "the sexy villain," "the damsel in distress," "the fighting f**k toy," "the sexy sidekick," and "women as background decoration."

So Lara Croft, in all her badass-fighter glory, is somewhat unique to begin with. Although her original avatar is definitely sexed up -- hence the famous booty shorts and crop top -- her outfit was always secondary to her skills. (And really, if she could engage in extreme fighting while rocking some short shorts, more power to her.) Giving her an origin story that rests on making (the presumably male) gamers want to protect her from other "bad men" is an unnecessary plot device. Jezebel's Erin Gloria Ryan interviewed a female game designer who called it simply "lazy storytelling," and Ryan argued that "the whole sexy victim thing is played out," as well as insulting to both male and female gamers.

Drones over America: Are they spying on you?

Most Americans have gotten used to regular news reports about military and CIA drones attacking terrorist suspects – including US citizens – in Pakistan, Yemen, and elsewhere abroad.

But picture thousands of drone aircraft buzzing around the United States – peering from the sky at breaches in border security, wildfires about to become major conflagrations, patches of marijuana grown illegally deep within national forests, or environmental scofflaws polluting the land, air, and water.

By some government estimates, as many as 30,000 drones could be part of intelligence gathering and law enforcement here in the United States within the next ten years. Operated by agencies down to the local level, this would be in addition to the 110 current and planned drone activity sites run by the military services in 39 states, reported this week by the Federation of American Scientists (FAS), a non-government research project.

The presence of drones in the US was brought home Wednesday night when some people thought they saw a UFO along the Capitol Beltway in Washington. In fact, it was a disc-shaped X-47B UCAV (Unmanned Combat Air System) being hauled from Edwards Air Force Base in California to Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland for testing.

'Beltway UFO' sparks saucer frenzy in D.C.

Civil libertarians warn that “unmanned aircraft carrying cameras raise the prospect of a significant new avenue for the surveillance of American life,” as the American Civil Liberties Union put it in a report last December.

“The technology is quickly becoming cheaper and more powerful, interest in deploying drones among police departments is increasing, and our privacy laws are not strong enough to ensure that the new technology will be used responsibly and consistently with democratic values,” reported the ACLU. “In short, all the pieces appear to be lining up for the eventual introduction of routine aerial surveillance in American life – a development that would profoundly change the character of public life in the United States.”

Steven Aftergood, who directs the Project on Government Secrecy at the Federation of American Scientists, highlights one potentially controversial part of US Air Force policy regarding military drones flown over the United States.

Lindsay Lohan Exhaustion, Dehydration: Actress Speaks After Health Scare

When reports broke Friday afternoon that paramedics rushed to Lindsay Lohan's Marina del Rey hotel room after the actress was found non-responsive, fans feared the worst. But, as it turns out, Lohan, who has been hard at work on her forthcoming Lifetime film "Liz and Dick," was just tired and a little thirsty.

"Note to self.. After working 85hours in 4days, and being up all night shooting, be very aware that you might pass out from exhaustion & 7 paramedics MIGHT show up @ your door.... Hopefully theyre cute. Otherwise it would be a real let down. XL @mrsalperez -back on set," Lohan tweeted early Saturday morning.

Although reports that Lohan was transported to a hospital when she was found "unconscious" by paramedics flooded the Internet, the actress' rep, Steve Honig, released a statement that paramedics left Lohan's hotel room after discovering that she was in no danger; she was never admitted to a hospital.

"Lindsay worked a grueling schedule the past few days. She was on set last night at 7 pm and worked through the night until 8 am this morning. She took a nap before shooting her final scene. Producers were concerned when she did not come out of her room and called paramedics as a precaution. Lindsay was examined and is fine, but did suffer some exhaustion and dehydration. Lindsay was never taken to a hospital; reports to the contrary are false. She is resting now and is hoping to be back on set later this afternoon."

Lindsay's mother, Dina Lohan, confirmed to The Huffington Post that after the ordeal, her exhausted daughter was at home sleeping.

Circus Music: Rockies miscues turn Miguel Cabrera grounder into Little League home run

Despite a rare win on Friday night that snapped their eight-game losing streak overall and a nine-game losing streak in interleague play, the Colorado Rockies continued their desperate search for rock bottom on Saturday afternoon in Detroit.

The expected news: Colorado lost again, 4-1.

The potential good news: It's possible they finally found rock bottom in the form of a Little League style series of errors that allowed Miguel Cabrera — yes, that Miguel Cabrera — to circle the bases on a simple one-hopper back to the pitcher.

I think it might be time for Colorado to retire the Justin Bieber cardboard cutout, because whatever inspiration that was good for has certainly worn off over their dreadful ten game stretch.

But perhaps the most interesting part of the whole fiasco is that Cabrera — who hit a more conventional home run earlier in the game — didn't even break out of the batter's box until he saw pitcher Christian Friedrich misplay the ball. He was completely prepared to give 25% effort down the line, if that, until the Rockies forced him to give about 90%. And even 90% was good enough as Colorado's defense melted down all around him.

Crew scurries as stage collapses before Radiohead concert, killing 1

Crew members ran for their lives when overhanging metalwork crashed onto a stage in a Toronto park Saturday afternoon, pinning and killing one man, authorities said.

The collapse happened around 4 p.m., one hour before spectators were set to begin streaming in for a concert by the alternative rock group Radiohead.

Several people were on the stage at the time, preparing for the show, when scaffolding-like material towering about 50 feet above collapsed.

"Unfortunately, four people were hurt," Toronto police Constable Tony Vella said. "The remainder of the people, when they heard the stage coming (down), ran from the area."

Firefighters arrived to find one man "trapped under the structure," said Toronto fire Platoon Chief Tony Bellavance. They helped to extricate the man, then moved away from what was then still considered an "unstable structure," Bellavance added.

Paramedics, who happened to be at the scene in preparation for the concert, "immediately rendered aid," according to on-site Toronto Emergency Medical Services commander Peter Rotolo. The victim -- who has not been identified, amid efforts to contact his next of kin -- was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he was in his 30s.

Another man who suffered serious injuries due to the collapse was transported to Toronto's Sunnybrook Hospital, Ian McClelland of the city's EMS department said. The 45-year-old man suffered a head injury that isn't considered life-threatening, according to Toronto police.

Two other men with minor injuries were assessed and released, McClelland said.

Aerial footage afterward showed that some metal framing -- some of it covered in a blue material -- crumpled on the stage, which was in front of a large grassy area. Some of the scaffolding-like material remained standing, reaching about 50 feet in the sky.

The stage was being set up especially for the Radiohead concert, Vella said. At the time it came down, the weather was good with no storm rolling through or significant winds, added fellow police Constable Harrison Ford.

"The big question is how" this happened, Vella said. "And that's something we will be working closely with the Ministry of Labor to determine (the cause) exactly, to prevent any future cases."

Reports: Indiana State Fair stage where 7 died was inadequate

The gates were scheduled to open at 5 p.m., allowing fans onto the concert grounds for the sold-out concert, according to CNN affiliate CBC.

The show was canceled due to what the production company Live Nation Entertainment described as "unforeseen circumstances."

"Radiohead concert canceled. There has been an incident, more details forthcoming," said a post on Downsview Park's official Facebook page.

The band was to be joined by the Canadian musician known as Caribou.

The Toronto incident comes 10 months after metal scaffolding supporting stage lights fell onto a crowd of fans and workers as a storm swept through at the Indiana State Fair right before the band Sugarland was to perform.

Joy and anger as Obama relaxes deportation rules

Undocumented Mexican youths who came to the United States as children reacted with joy to an Obama administration rule change on Friday that could spare them deportation, although opponents slammed it as amnesty and ridiculous.

"It hasn't really sunk in entirely, but I feel a sense of joy and happiness because I know this is really going to change my life," said Justino Mora, 22, an undocumented computer science student at UCLA in Los Angeles.

Mora is among an estimated 800,000 illegal immigrants up to 30 years old who came to the United States as children and will benefit by the surprise order announced by U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.

"I will have the opportunity to ... create my own business so that I can help ... my family financially and create the jobs that the U.S. needs," Mora told Reuters.

The rule change applies to undocumented youngsters like Mora who do not pose a risk to national security and who will now be eligible to stay in the country and apply for work permits. Mora came to the United States at age 11 from central Mexico with his mother.

Those eligible under Obama's plan must have come to the United States under the age of 16 and lived in the country for at least five years. They must be in school or have graduated from high school or be honorably discharged from the U.S. military. They also must not have been convicted of any felony or significant misdemeanor offenses.

For 18-year-old high school honors graduate Yolanda Medina, in Phoenix, Arizona, the rule change means a shot at studying at the city's Grand Canyon University in the fall and the chance to escape a life toiling in menial jobs open to illegal immigrants.

"Most of us ... are forced to take jobs like cleaning houses, cleaning someone's car or babysitting, when you have so much more to offer," said Medina, who came to the United States with her mother from Durango, Mexico, at age 3.

Saudi Prince Salman seen as likely heir to throne

Saudi Arabia's Defence Minister Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, seen as more moderate than his hawkish brother Crown Prince Nayef who died on Saturday, is likely to be anointed heir to the throne of the world's top oil exporter.

Although the choice of a new crown prince must be confirmed by a family allegiance council, analysts said it would be highly surprising if Salman, now 76, was passed over.

"The most obvious candidate is Prince Salman," said Saudi politics professor Khalid al-Dakhil.

If appointed, he is likely to shoulder much of the burden of state immediately, given that King Abdullah is already 89.

An imposing figure, Salman controls one of the Arab world's largest media groups.

He believes that democracy is ill-suited to the conservative kingdom and advocates a cautious approach to social and cultural reform, according to a 2007 U.S. diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks.

A familiar figure to the kingdom's top ally - the United States - he is someone with whom Washington would be comfortable doing business.

"It appeared to me he had a good handle on the delicate balancing act he had to do to move society forward while being respectful of its traditions and conservative ways," said Robert Jordan who was U.S. ambassador in Riyadh from 2001-03.

"He doesn't blindly accept everything the United States says, but at the same time he understands the importance of the relationship, which goes beyond oil," Jordan added.

After nearly 50 years as governor of Riyadh province, Prince Salman now controls the big-spending Defence Ministry.

The ministry has long used arms purchases to turn the Saudi armed forces into one of the best equipped in the Middle East and to bolster ties with allies such as the United States, Britain and France.

Since being named defence minister last year, he has been to both Washington and London, meeting President Barack Obama and Prime Minister David Cameron.

A family insider, Salman has been part of the inner circle of the al-Saud ruling family, which founded and still dominates the desert kingdom in alliance with conservative religious clerics, for decades.

In a royal family that bases its right to rule on its guardianship of Islam's holiest sites in Mecca and Medina, Salman is reputed to be devout but relatively outward-looking.

"He's not extravagant, whether in his personal life or professionally," said Khaled Almaeena, editor-in-chief of Saudi Gazette, who has known Salman personally for more than three decades.

"He's not a spendthrift and makes sure public money is spent well on projects. If you go to his office he's there every morning meeting people. He has a knack of remembering people and events... He has travelled abroad a lot and is very well read and is very well versed in dealing with the tribes."

Apple, Samsung account for 90%of smart phone profits

Korean mobile maker Samsung and US-based tech giant Apple have captured over half the global market for smart phones and over 90% of its profits, according to a research firm.

According to ABI Research, global smart phone shipments grew 41% year-over-year to 144.6 million in the first quarter of 2012.

The report said that Samsung and Apple accounted for 55% of smartphone shipments and over 90 percent of the market's profits, News24 reports.

The report revealed that Samsung and Apple delivered 43 million and 35 million units in the quarter respectively.

Nokia was third with 11.9 million and BlackBerry maker Research in Motion (RIM) just behind with 11.1 million.

Of the top ten smartphone makers, only Samsung and Sony saw sequential growth from the fourth quarter, which is traditionally strong, the report said.

    Saudi Crown Prince Nayef dies

Saudi Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz, a hard-ine conservative who is credited with pushing back al Qaeda, has died, Saudi state TV said on Saturday.
Nayef, who had been named crown prince in October by his brother the king, was heir to the Saudi throne. State TV is broadcasting Quran readings as an expression of mourning for the prince, who died in Geneva, Switzerland.
"It is a shock. We are knew his health was frail but his death is a shock," Saudi Foreign Ministry spokesman Osama Nogali told CNN. "We still don't know the reason behind his death."
The Saudi Press Agency published a statement from the Royal Court, saying it "condoles the Saudi people on the deceased prince pray to God to bless his soul and to reward him for his services to his religion and homeland."
Nayef's body will arrive in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia Sunday and will be buried after afternoon prayer in Mecca, Nogali said.
After the funeral, a period of mourning -- most likely for three days -- will be announced, a Saudi official told CNN. The official asked not to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media.
It is expected that authorities selected by the king to choose a successor will meet as soon as the mourning period is over, the official said. A new crown prince could be named with next three to four days, the source said.
Nayef served as Saudi interior minister since 1975, having overseen the kingdom's counterterrorism efforts.
He also served as deputy premier.
A classified U.S. Embassy cable leaked by the website WikiLeaks described Nayef as a hard-line conservative who was lukewarm to King Abdullah's reform initiatives.
Nayef led the crack down against hard-ine Islamists who took control of Mecca in 1979, and also oversaw the smashing of Saudi-based al Qaeda cells in the mid-2000s.
In recent years, his son, Prince Mohammed bin Nayef has led the Kingdom's fight against al Qaeda as the elder Nayef seemed to have taken more of back seat.

China launches first woman, first manned docking mission

A Chinese Shenzhou spacecraft carrying a space veteran and two rookies, including China's first female "taikonaut," rocketed into orbit Saturday on a mission to dock with a prototype space station module, an incremental but critical step on the road to building a Mir-class space station later this decade.

Broadcast live on Chinese television, the Long March-2F rocket carrying the three-seat Shenzhou 9 spacecraft roared to life on time and quickly climbed away from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in north central China at 6:37 p.m. local time (GMT+8; 6:37 a.m. EDT), arcing to the east through a cloudless blue sky.

The Shenzhou 9 spacecraft, perched atop a Long March-2F rocket, blasted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in north central China Saturday evening.
    (Credit: CCTV)

The mission commander is 46-year-old Jing Haipeng, veteran of China's third and most recent manned mission in 2008 and the first Chinese astronaut to make a return trip to space. His crewmates are both making their first flight: Liu Wang, 43, and Liu Yang, 33, the first female Chinese astronaut. She is an air force major in the People's LIberation Army with 1,680 hours of flying time.

Live television from the spacecraft during the climb to space showed Jing, strapped into the capsule's center seat, with Liu Wang seated to his right and Liu Yang to his left. All three appeared relaxed and in good spirits as they monitored cockpit displays, occasionally waving at the camera.

"I am grateful to the motherland and the people," Liu Yang told reporters during a pre-flight news conference. "I feel honored to fly into space on behalf of hundreds of millions of female Chinese citizens."

Along with achieving the technical goals of the mission, "I want to experience the fantastic environment in space and appreciate the beauty of Earth and our homeland," she said in a report from the Xinhua news agency. "I will live up to your expectations and work with my teammates to complete this space mission."

Joan Johnson-Freese, an expert on China's space program, said Liu Yang's selection "will play well domestically. They're always quoting that Mao said women hold up half of heaven. So this is a big nod to half of 1.3 billion people. It plays well domestically and internationally."

Liu Yang, a 33-year-old Chinese air force major, is the first woman from China to be launched into space. She is seen here during training.

The goal of China's fourth manned space mission is to carry out the first manned rendezvous and docking with the orbiting Tiangong 1 module, a prototype of the much larger laboratory components that will be assembled into an operational space station by the end of the decade, a program that was approved by China's leadership in 1992.

Following a deliberate, step-by-step approach to that long-term goal, China became the third nation, after the United States and the Soviet Union/Russia, to launch a manned spacecraft in October 2003 when Yang Liwei blasted off aboard the Shenzhou 5 spacecraft. Shenzhou 6, carrying two crew members, was successfully launched in October 2005 and Shenzhou 7, carrying a three-man crew -- including Jing Haipeng -- flew in September 2008.

The Tiangong 1 -- "Heavenly Palace" -- research module was launched Sept. 29, 2011, to serve as a target for unmanned and then manned docking missions. One month after Tiangong 1 reached orbit, China launched the unmanned Shenzhou 8 spacecraft, which carried out an automated rendezvous and televised docking with the research module two days later.

"Currently, China is still experimenting with docking technology, which is critical to its ability to transfer people and material from the ground to a long-term outpost in space," wrote Gregory Kulacki in a background paper distributed by the Union of Concerned Scientists.

"Docking requires careful and accurate control of the space capsule to allow it to rendezvous with and attach itself to a port on the station. Experience with docking will also allow China to gain valuable information and experience needed for the design and construction of the space station, which will be assembled from a series of large modules joined together with a similar docking mechanism."

Police: Breakup led Buffalo doctor to kill lover, self

In the end, the gifted trauma surgeon widely beloved as a lifesaver turned to violence, killing himself with a gunshot to the head as he was being sought in the fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend.

A two-day nationwide search for Dr. Timothy Jorden ended when police found his body in thick brush a half-mile from his Lake Erie shoreline home. A neighbor had reported hearing a gunshot from the area on Wednesday morning, and police with dogs found the body, dressed in surgical scrubs, on Friday morning.

Authorities had been looking for Jorden since Wednesday morning, when 33-year-old Jacqueline Wisniewski was found shot to death in a stairwell at the Erie County Medical Center, where they both worked. Friends said Wisniewski was afraid of the 49-year-old Jorden and had broken off their relationship some time ago.

Police said Timothy Jorden killed himself with one shot to the head from the .357 Magnum and didn't leave a suicide note. He had withdrawn large sums of money recently and had given friends gifts.

Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda said Jorden went to the hospital with a shotgun and a .357 Magnum pistol intending to kill Wisniewski because of their breakup. Jorden lured her to the hospital basement, where he shot her five times at point-blank range, Derenda said. He then ran from the hospital and drove home, where surveillance video showed him arriving about 30 minutes later.

Just four minutes later, Jorden is seen leaving the house, down a path to a ravine and disappearing into the woods.

Derenda said Jorden killed himself with one shot to the head from the .357 Magnum and didn't leave a suicide note. He had withdrawn large sums of money recently and had given friends gifts.

Police say they found body of fugitive surgeon suspected of murder

As Jorden's tailspin accelerated, friends, neighbors and colleagues painted a picture of a man in decline. Jorden, once 250 pounds and clean-shaven, had lost up to 75 pounds and let his face get scraggly. His neatly manicured lawn got overgrown. He just didn't seem the same; not as "nice" as before, was how neighbor June Dupree put it.

Dupree said she was distraught over what had happened.

"It doesn't make any sense that he did that and that he killed himself," she said. "Oh, my God, it's just terrible. I can't get over it. I'm just about in tears right now."

Jennifer Lopez' Sheer Catsuit In Panama Channels Britney Spears

Forget colored jeans and bright lipstick. The hottest trend for spring 2012 is dressing like Britney Spears.

No, we don't mean wearing Uggs and tattered jorts. Think 2004. Think the "Toxic" video. Think... catsuit.

Jennifer Lopez brought her newly recharged musical act (and style!) to the Figali Convention Center in Panama part of the Dance Again World Tour on Thursday night and during one of her myriad costume changes, she whipped out this little Zuhair Murad number, which consists of nude mesh, sparkles and not much else.

Thanks to rows of well-placed bling, though, the 42-year-old singer managed to avoid a serious wardrobe malfunction. After all, it's not like this is her first time at the catsuit rodeo; girl's been a big fan for years, whether they're made of leather, cobwebs, -- or even a similar diamond version that she donned at the 2011 American Music Awards.

Sheer bodysuits are having a total renaissance this month. Earlier, Jessica Chastain donned a sheer and sparkly dress to the 2012 Tony Awards that definitely gave us a hint of a Britney vibe.

But hold the phone, everyone. We need to think about the societal repercussions of ladies donning catsuits again. Is fabric about to be "so over"? Will we all start showing up to work with just two rhinestones in place of a bra? How can we make this look work for the office? Next time we run into Anna Wintour, we'll run all these questions by her.

Jennifer Aniston, Justin Theroux Match In Rome

It's official: Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are the matchiest (yes, it's a word) couple in Hollywood.

We first caught on when they ran errands in jeans, black leather jackets, black hats, work boots and dark shades several months ago. Since then, they've been seen in all sorts of coordinating looks, mainly consisting of Jen's beloved jeans and tees and Justin's signature leather jackets.

Currently on a closely chronicled European trip, the attractive pair showed up to the Eiffel Tower in matching black suits (although she chose a tight tank instead of a classic white button-down). Today, they jetted off to Rome in gray tees, Justin pairing his with jeans and Jen wearing a dress version.

Jeans and tees, of course, are a fairly common clothing choice for anyone, couples included. But you'd think Jen and Justin would check with each other before leaving the hotel room, no?

'Rock Of Ages' Reviews: What Do The Critics Think Of Tom Cruise's Latest

    Rock Of Ages Reviews

"Rock of Ages" is the story of a small-town girl (Julianne Hough) and city boy (Diego Boneta), but it's Tom Cruise who critics are praising most.

"Cruise is without question the best thing about 'Rock of Ages' and certainly the only reason to see it," writes Will Leitch for Deadspin about Cruise's performance as Stacee Jaxx. "It's not necessarily good, but it's insanely watchable, and every scene he's not in, you keep waiting for him to come back."

Echoed Manhola Dargis in the New York Times, "A whispering and writhing Mr. Cruise makes ['Rock of Ages'] watchable."

This is not to say every critic enjoyed Cruise's shirtless take on Stacee Jaxx, a rock god in the mold of Axl Rose.

"He’s fun to watch in his first few scenes, hamming it up as a spoiled rock’n’roll satyr," Movieline critic Stephanie Zacharek notes. "But the role quickly becomes a retread of the one he played in 'Magnolia,' only in a different costume. Cruise can’t hide his cockiness -- it’s in his blood. But even when he tries to kick back and poke fun at himself, he takes the job so seriously that it becomes a sort of grind. There’s nothing sexy about him, unless you find studied posturing erotic."

As for the film itself, there seem to be two camps forming: one which found "Rock of Ages" to be a cheesy -- if overlong at more than two hours -- delight; the other which found it unbearable.

"I haven’t seen a movie this bad since 'Battlefield Earth' and 'Howard the Duck,'" writes New York Observer critic Rex Reed. "The filthy, disgusting script is by three people who should remain nameless, but I can hardly believe one of them is Justin Theroux, a good actor who would do the world a favor if he dropped his laptop off the top of the Chrysler Building." Reed later compares "Rock of Ages" to an iron lung.

On eve of health ruling, Ruth Bader Ginsburg predicts 'sharp disagreement'

With a wry smile, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg laid waste Friday to all those rumors about the fate of the Affordable Care Act in the Supreme Court.

“Those who know don’t talk. And those who talk don’t know,” she quipped Friday night at a conference hosted by the American Constitution Society at the Capital Hilton.

Ginsburg said she was responding to a "steady stream of rumors and fifth-hand accounts" about the court's deliberations on the law.

(Also on POLITICO: Democrats in the dark on how to respond to SCOTUS ruling)

Careful not to tip her hand on the court’s ruling — expected in the next two weeks — Ginsburg described the oral arguments in the case as unprecedented for the number of “press conferences, prayer circles, protests and counterprotests” that occurred on the courthouse steps.

Although she offered no insight into the tightly held decisions of her colleagues, Ginsburg did indicate that many of the court’s decisions over the next two weeks — which are also expected to include an FCC indecency ruling — might be close.

The 21 remaining decisions, she said, were “many of the most controversial cases” that the court reviewed this term.

“It is likely that the sharp disagreement rate will go up next week and the week after,” she said.

Although the oral arguments on the ACA spanned six hours over three days, she noted that a case cited during those arguments — McCullough v. Maryland — featured oral arguments that spanned nine days over two months.

Ginsburg noted that one ACA-related question the court must decide is whether the whole law must fall if the individual mandate is unconstitutional — “or may the mandate be chopped, like a head of broccoli, from the rest of it?”

The Worst Restaurants to Work For

Is your favorite restaurant mistreating its workers?According to a guide released earlier this year by a group dedicated to workplace justice, some of the most popular fast-food, fine-dining, and family-friendly restaurants in the United States -- including McDonald's, The Capital Grille, and The Olive Garden -- are also the worst ones at which to work.

"We all enjoy eating out," Restaurant Opportunities Centers (ROC) writes on the website for its National Diners' Guide 2012. "Unfortunately, the workers who cook, prepare, and serve our food suffer from poverty wages, no benefits like paid sick days, and little or no chance to move up to better positions. When the people who serve us food can't afford to pay the rent or take a day off when they're sick, our dining experience suffers."

Ninety percent of the more than 4,300 restaurant workers surveyed by ROC reported their employers did not offer employees paid sick leave. Two-thirds of those surveyed reported that their employees routinely cook, prepare, and serve food while sick.

Rich Jeffers, director of media relations for Darden Restaurants, owners of the Olive Garden,  the Capital Grille steakhouse, Longhorn Steakhouse, and Red Lobster -- all of which were called out in the survey over possible illegal practices because workers there have sought help for discrimination and wage theft -- said the organization never reached out to Darden about how employees are compensated before publishing its guide. He noted the average hourly wage with tips for the chain's wait staff is nearly $14.50, and the average hourly wage for a busser is $11. He took exception with a survey of 4,300 restaurant workers in an industry that employs 13 million people.

Workers are entitled to a minimum wage of $7.25 per hour if they do not receive tips and $2.13 per hour if they do, as well as overtime pay, if they work more than 40 hours per week; if tips and wages don't add up to $7.25 per hour, the employer is obligated to make up the difference. But many workers aren't aware that they're entitled to payment for all of the hours they work, let alone at what rate, the guide noted. And a wage gap exists even among workers making the bare minimum that the government requires employers to pay. "Women, immigrants, and people of color hold lower-paying positions in the industry, and do not have many opportunities to move up the ladder," the report found. "Among the 4,300 workers surveyed, we found a $4 wage gap between white workers and workers of color, and 73 percent reported not receiving regular promotions on the job."

The guide, which was published in January but gained some newfound attention this week when the New York Times' Mark Bittman and others wrote about it, ranked 150 of the most profitable restaurants in the United States on how much their workers earn, whether they get paid sick leave, and what kind of chances they have for advancement. Darden's Jeffers said 48.9 percent of its restaurant managers advance from entry-level positions, and that the company is keenly focused on upward mobility for its employees.

A sizable number of well-known restaurant chains earned "zero" ratings because they didn't meet any of the minimum requirements for their workers -- and, contrary to what you might think, there are more than a few high-end fine-dining establishments on the list. Take a look:

Jenny McCarthy Nude Photo: Actress Accidentally Sent Nude Pic To Dentist

Jenny McCarthy gave a dentist something to smile about when she accidentally sent him a nude photo of herself (hey! it works). The former Playboy cover girl said she had snapped nude photos of herself meant for her boyfriend, Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher. But things went awry one morning when her 10-year-old son, Evan, woke up with a curious "thing" in his mouth, prompting her to send a photo of his mouth to the dentist.

"So I'm taking a picture of it and I'm sending it to the dentist and I sent him a nude on accident! I swear to God!" McCarthy recalled.

"The dentist is, like, 80 years old. I literally screamed at the top of my lungs."

Last week, McCarthy told Howard Stern that son Evan, who has autism, misses ex-boyfriend Jim Carrey "almost weekly" and even attended therapy sessions as a result. McCarthy and Carrey split in 2010 after dating for more than five years.

Bristol Palin Won't Rule Out Running For Office

Bristol Palin weighed in on her political future on Thursday, telling Fox News' Sean Hannity that she wouldn't rule out the possibility of running for office one day.

When asked by the Fox host if she would leave the door open to follow in her mother Sarah Palin's footsteps, Palin said she was too young to eliminate the possibility just yet.

"I don't think I'd shut it completely yet," she said. "I'm only 21, but not any time soon."

Palin declined to state whether or not her mother would decide to run for office again. However, she said, her family is well prepared for the trials of campaign life.

"We all have tough skin. We're all strong. Our roots are very grounded," she said. "Whatever she does, we're going to support her."

Palin appeared on Hannity's show to talk about her new reality show, "Life's a Tripp," which chronicles her life as a single mother. According to Palin, she agreed to document her life on camera with hopes of showing what her life is really like.

"No matter what i'm doing, people are going to be talking about me," Palin, whose son Tripp will turn four this year. "I might as well have a platform and talk about things that are important to me, and show other girls that it's not easy."

While Palin was not as critical of Tripp's father as she has been on other recent occasions, she did admit she was "sad that Tripp doesn't have an active father figure."

Although the Lifetime series has yet to air, Palin has already expressed some regrets about how the show turned out.

"If I would have known it was my own name and so much in my life is gonna be shown on this show, I think I would reconsider it and think about it more," Palin said of the series.
